Comments about Step2 Animal Park Shape Sorter™:

This is a decent shape sorter but I think in trying to add extra features to the product they forgot about its need to serve its primary purpose.

I like that there are spaces for the little animal shapes to go in the base so it acts like a puzzle as well. It's very colorful and attractive and the little carrying handle is convenient for an older baby who wants to be able to pick it up.

Where this product goes wrong is that the open & close doors feel flimsy and are definitely frustrating to a baby just trying to get the shapes in the hole.

Also the handle while a neat feature is not really a handle but a hole cut into the roof which makes you think it should be the place for a shape that is missing.

Lastly I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that this teaches kids to identify animals since the animals that appear on the shapes don't stand out very much and have no color differentiation from the shapes themselves.

It's an OK purchase but if I had to do it over again I would skip this and get something else.

Step2.com Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Tiffiny S: Children can still play with this even before they're able to correctly sort shapes. It's also easy for kids to remove the shapes themselves and continue playing. Apr 13, 2013
