My ex wife has this same bed for my son I was excited to find it online and purchased it... I was super disappointed that it did not come with the doors!?

Why aren't the doors even an available item anymore with this bed? Can they be purchased seperately? Alot of people I have seen are complaining about it missing the doors!

I was so excited for this bed to come when I ordered it. I saw online that the bed did not come with doors but was expecting it to come with atleast the totes. It doesn't. After the bed was put together I stepped back and took a good look and thought for sure there were missing pieces. The front looks unfinished and upon doing some research online I found it was because the item doesn't come with doors. If I would have know the finished product would look like it does, I would have never purchased it! Very disappointed. I will not be recommending this to anyone.

        Comments about Step2 Boy's Loft & Storage Twin Bed™:

We purchased two of these beds for our 5 and 4 year old boys last March. We are now getting ready to move our youngest into his first big boy bed. I went online to purchase a third one since all my boys will be sharing a room. I was shocked to see that the doors have been removed and replaced with totes. The new bed looks unfinished and ugly. I do like the new added color but I prefer the natural look better. I think you should have the option of doors/totes and a color option.

Tremendous screwup removing the doors. Bed would be worth the additional money with doors. Not like this. And the hinges are clearly visible. Usually like Step 2 but this was a huge letdown

The reviews of people who love this bed but almost changed my mind when I read the totes must be purchased separately and are not even offer as an option to purchase. The wonderful reviews of the older version of this bed with doors makes me hope I am not disappointed once I receive and assemble or when I cannot find totes to match. Crossing my fingers!!

I currently have two boys that each have the old version of this bed with the doors. Now I have 2 girls I would like to buy this bed for in the pink and white, but really no doors???? Looks unstable and incomplete, you can clearly see from the pictures that the hinge holes are even there. Can you please make some pink doors and put them on this bed? I would order two right now if they had the doors. PLEASE listen to us consumers, we all want the doors back!!!! Love the girly colors though!
          MommyMcGetrick on Sep 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I am in the exact same position myself. I wouldn't pay half price the way the new look is without the doors.
Has the company decided to make storage doors for this product? Interested in the colors but love the old product style
          tmcurry21 on Jun 4, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for this feedback. We have passed this over to our Product Team.
Can you purchase doors for the bottom like the older version has? Also, will you be selling the toy box that matches? I see the toy box in the video but not under toy boxes or storage.
          A shopper on May 17, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The toy box will be available for purchase as well as a room organizer. Please keep a watch out for their availability during June 2013. At this time, the doors are not available for separate purchase, but we will pass this feedback along to our product development team.
When will you complete this bed with the doors? You can clearly see the attachments for them. This is not a complete product :(
          Rebecca C on Aug 9, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I would purchase this bed today if it came with the doors!! I love the color of the new but prefer the doors on the older version.
When will it be possible to get doors to match? I love the new colors and the fact that the storage area is there but not that there are no doors to cover the items that would be stored underneath. Plus the lack of doors leaves the bed looking "unfinished."
          Carolyn D on Jun 25, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Please make the doors for the new beds. I have the tan bed and have 2 other kids who would love the new beds but they look unfinished without the doors. I tried ordering the replacement doors from the other bed but the customer service rep said they discontinued the bed so they don't sell the doors either. They need beds now though as they are getting too big for the cribs so I may need to go with a different bed. Too bad because I love step2 products and always recommend them. Please let us know if you decide to make the matching doors.
The current design truly looks like it is missing doors in the pictures on here that I am looking at. Are there pictures to show those hinge areas no longer there? Or will doors be available in the future?
          Mommy on Oct 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: how far is the development for the doors?
I want to get this as a big boy bed for my 3 year old but I also agree that it needs doors. I tried to find the old model but I do prefer the newer color palette. It matches his outer space theme perfectly. Any thoughts to product redesign and if so, how soon?
          Brenda B on Feb 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your feedback. We have received multiple requests to add doors to this kid's bed and we are taking these suggestions to heart. We have been working with our product development and manufacturing teams to find the best solution for this product moving forward. For the foreseeable future, this bed is only available as pictured. If and when this product is available with doors, it will only be on a newer model of this bed. We will not be able to sell the doors separately for this current model as it would require a special tool for assembly.
I have 2 storage doors from the previous model, if i order this new model, will the doors from the previous model fit the new model? Can i install them? When will you have purchase availability for the storage doors?
          A shopper on Aug 30, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I went to Lowes brought a drill and put holes where the doors should be and added the doors from the older version. My daughter hates pink so I brought her the blue one.
I was wondering why the storage doors were not put on this boys loft bed like the older version had. The bed now looks weird without the doors...it looks like something is missing, it looks incomplete. Will the storge doors be put on this bed and can i buy the doors through your company?
          Patricia P on Jul 15, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I have a child with disabilities that I was planning on purchasing this bed for. However, without the doors the storage area becomes a safety issue for him. I would definitely be willing to pay the additional fee for the doors to protect his safety.
My boys are 3 years apart and I knew that I would be buying a second one of these when my second child was old enough to convert to a toddler bed, so I log on to buy a second one for my younger child and the bed is now sold incomplete...seriously??? Completely disappointed!!! Why did you remove the doors from this model??? The holes/hinges are even still in the picture...it will look as though you forgot to put the doors on, it really looks incomplete. I own one of these beds and it has the doors...was there a problem with the doors and I was not notified??? If not, why would you remove them...what's the old saying; "if it's not broke, don't fix it!" I see that other consumers are requesting you put the doors back on...
Step2 has always been a trusted company and I've always felt safe to buy your products due to how solid the product is...I'm disappointed that the company has decided to start cutting corners and create cheap and incomplete products.
          Samantha H on Jan 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I apologize for the inconvenience. The decision for the Loft & Storage Twin Bed™ to not come with doors was a design change to allow easier access to the underneath storage area.
Has the company decided to create a new "version" of this bed WITH doors?
          A shopper on May 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: At this time, a version with doors is not available.
I would buy this bed immediately if it came with doors!?
          A shopper on Sep 5, 2013
Where are the doors!? Why can't we purchase the doors for this bed or why were they removed from the previous model to the new one? My ex wife has this bed for my son and I was super excited when I found it, but it looks cheap and useless without the doors on!? Completely bummed because that was the whole reason I wanted it, was to have a place to hide/store his toys or have a play area for him to hide in!

Please add the doors or make them available as an accessory purchase?
          Matthew P on Oct 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: At this time we do not currently have plans to add doors to the bed but we will be sure to pass the suggestion on internally.
Is the support board available on the website? If not, is there any support board that step2 recommend for this bed??
          A shopper on Jun 3, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Dear "staff" Why on earth do I have to go out and buy a bunkie board? Why does this $300 require purchasing more parts? It makes NO sense at all why you do not recommend a box spring and don't provide the board. So what does $300 provide? It sounds like it provides a BIG hunk of plastic and apparently missing doors. For GOODNESS sake put the doors back on. I am reading all of the screams for the doors back and "staff" keeps answering with nothing but...we are bringing it to our product development team.
Hello I want to know can I use a boxspring mattress or does it need the support board then the standard mattress ???
          A shopper on Dec 29, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The directions stated to use a "bunkie board".
We were going to use a boxspring under the mattress, but ended up just cutting a piece of particle board under the mattress.
You do have to use something, there are not enough planks to fully support the mattress.
I want to order this bed for my son. Where do I purchase the matching bins for this bed?
          Jessica n on Apr 8, 2015
          BEST ANSWER: Hi Jessica,

We do not sell the storage bins shown with the Loft & Storage Twin Bed. The storage bins shown in the photo with the Loft & Storage Twin Bed are 16 gallon storage containers.
What is the height of the mattress that should be used? Can you use a thick one? 12-18 inches? thanks!
          Trish D on Mar 21, 2015
          BEST ANSWER: Hi Trish. Our twin bed requires a standard twin mattress size: 38” (96.52 cm) x 74-1/2” (189.23 cm) x 7” (17.78 cm) and a bunkie board (support board) size: 38” (96.52 cm) x 74-1/2” (189.23
cm) x 1-1/2” to 4” (3.81 cm to 10.16 cm). These items are not included.
I almost purchased the bed for my three year old but If im understanding correctly the blue doors on the bed are not included anymore? If that is true can you replace the picture on the website with a true picture of what ACTUALLY comes with the bed so consumers can make an informed purchase and maybe cut down on the negative reviews.
          A shopper on Jan 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Apparently there were doors that covered the two opening where the toy bins are in the picture.. I bought this bed for my three year old grandson and we don't miss the doors at all..! He loves it.. I love it..! I would buy it again..!
Why exactly is a box spring not recommended and your supposed to use a board instead? Is it dangerous? I can't see how.
          A shopper on Jun 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: A box spring would elevate the mattress which is not recommended, where a bunkie board only provides support.
I actually have the old version of this with the doors on the bottom and 1) want to know if both sides had handles cause mine only has them on 1 side. And 2) is anyone else's child awkward about getting out of this thing? My 3 year old looks weird getting off, like the top stair step is just a bit too high.
          A shopper on May 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have the new model and there are no doors on bottom, both sides are open. No problem for my 3 year old to get out, no. He & we love this bed!
I have been looking at this bed both in the blue and pink for my children but I must agree that im worried becuase I have a children with special needs and having the doors on the bed not only complete the look but also makea it safe for children. Will there be add doors back soon? If not ill keep looking.
amanda bright on May 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Amanda, we do not have plans to add the doors back at this time.
