I recently was given the opportunity to review the Step2 Cozy Kitchen. This awesome kitchen has everything your little chef needs:

    Refrigerator
    Oven
    Stove
    Two cabinets for storage
    Sink with movable faucet
21 piece accessory set (pot with lid, pan with lid, salt and pepper shakers, coffee pot, spoon and spatula, 2 cups, 2 bowls, 2 plates, 2 forks, 2 spoons and 2 knives)

I'll be honest, I usually dread the idea of having to assemble any of the kids' toys. However, I was VERY pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to put together the Step2 Cozy Kitchen. The entire process of assembly took only 20 minutes from start to finish - and I did it all by myself! :) Measuring in at 20" wide x 38" H x 11"D, this kitchen's compact design won't take up a lot of space, but will still give your little one everything he/she needs to whip up a special meal!

The Step2 Cozy Kitchen comes complete with 21 kitchen accessories - everything your little chef needs in the kitchen! When my 3 year old little girl first saw the Cozy Kitchen, she immediately got busy organizing the accessories into the oven, refrigerator and cabinets. After everything was put in its proper place (according to a three-year-old!), she decided that she would make us some soup. She got out her pan, turned on her stove, added salt and pepper (lots of it, I might add :)) and started stirring! Once it was "just right," she spooned it into the bowls and poured us each a cup of coffee because "Mommy loves coffee!" After we enjoyed our meal, she made sure we both washed our hands in the Cozy Kitchen sink!

We have always loved Step2 products and the Cozy Kitchen is no exception! Like all the other Step2 products that we have tried, the Cozy Kitchen will provide your child with years of imaginative play while providing you with the durability that you have come to expect from Step2 products.

My daughter seems to like it sometimes, but I really don't. She gets frustrated because the pots that fit in this tiny kitchen can't even hold a few of her play food, she tried to put an egg and a slice of cheese and it was way too big for the tiny frying pan that comes with it, she couldn't even put the lid on! When my son tries to play with her there is no room at all! So they end up fighting. I also got bigger pots and pans for them to play with and they don't fit, This kitchen is soo small! Looks pretty, but for the size and the few accessories it is way overpriced. Too bad I threw away the box because I would have returned this tiny play kitchen wannabe.

      Comments about Step2 Cozy Kitchen™:

I bought this for our granddaughter to keep at my house for when she comes over. She loves it and has gotten many hours of use out of it. It's lightweight so I can put in whatever rooms she wants to "cook" in. It's very sturdy and has nice features. If kept indoors, it will stay looking good as new...good resale value too. I often see it listed on Craig's list for a decent price.

Kathy B: My two granddaughters (4 and 1 1/2) enjoy playing with this kitchen and have acquired many accessories to allow them to emulate actual cooking and serving. This kitchen is located indoors. I would be concerned about losing decals for microwave, oven, etc. if left outside due to the elements. The structure itself would fare well as with any Step2 product. Apr 16, 2013
Reply to Kathy Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Carol Jean H: The sturdy structure would probably hold up in the weather, but most of the detail that you see on it is stickers that you put on while assembling it, which are made of plastic coated paper. I'm not sure how they would hold up long term out in the open outdoors. It would probably do fine if it was on a covered deck or patio. Apr 16, 2013
Reply to Carol Jean Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Janice T: I bought this for my great-niece who lives in another state, so I am not sure how it would hold up outside. It is mostly plastic, but has lots of decals that would surely weather. If it were unprotected. water would lay in places and could possibly freeze and crack the toy. Apr 21, 2013
Reply to Janice Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
cheryl p: It can be used outdoors, I think the plastic parts will be fine. However, there are a lot of stickers on the piece that I assume will dry up and peel off if exposed to outdoor weather. It's a very sturdy toy. Apr 16, 2013
Reply to cheryl Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
H A: Maybe if the weather where you are is not too extreme. It is mostly plastic. My only worry would be the stickers (decals) that decorate it may peel off with exposure to rain or extreme heat. Apr 17, 2013
Reply to H Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Mary H: No, it's not an outdoor toy - the stickers, etc will be damaged by the elements. I imagine you COULD put it outside, just expect it to wear quickly. Apr 16, 2013
Reply to Mary Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Christina S: I don't think it would do well outdoors the stickers would fade and peel. The sink would fill up with rainwater and be difficult to empty. Apr 21, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Cheryl H: The stove knob makes a clicking sound, but I don't think that's a "feature" of the kitchen, per se -- I think it's just a result of the way it was constructed. So, in general, no, no sounds. (That was actually a selling feature for me!) Also, there is no microwave -- just a stove, fridge and two upper cabinets. Feb 14, 2014

Jacob W: Amazing item, I purchased it 2 years ago and my children play with it daily as if its a new item!
The only noise you would hear is when turning the knobs on the stove, very slight clicks, no microwave in this specific model so that wouldn't be aplicibale.

Susan H: I bought this 2 years ago for my then 2-yr. old granddaughter. She still plays with it a lot. it's very basic and compact. If he's going to play with it a lot, I think you might want to get a little bit bigger one that is more elaborate. I keep this one at my house. She has a bigger one at her house. Nov 19, 2013

Jessica N: This is not easy to topple over. I never have this happen since i purchased this for two years. it wont hurt the kids even if it fall off. The better way is to put it against to wall if you could. I bought this when my kids were at age of 2 and age of 8 months, they both like it until now, they are 4-year old and 2-year old. They pretend they are chefs, very cute... Jul 23, 2014

Suzanne S: I have a 3 year old and a 10 month old and it hasn't fallen over yet. I do feel that it would if we didn't have it placed against a wall. My daughter likes to play with the opening behind the faucet open to play "cooker and shopper", but I havent turned it since the little one now is always standing at the kitchen. Jul 23, 2014

Nora B asked: I am having trouble with assembly. Are there supposed to be holes in the plastic sink top part where the directions say to screw 2 screws on each side? I can't get the big long screws in because there are no real holes. Am I missing something? If I don't screw it down my toddler can just pull that piece off on to himself. Help?!! Sep 4, 2013

Step2Staff: All of our screws are self-tapping. You can either use the screw or a nail and hammer to start the screw into the plastic and then use a screw driver to insert it the rest of the way. Sep 5, 2013

cheryl p: It's been a while since I put my kitchen together, but the screws do on into the side of the sink, 2 on each side.
You may have to drill a pilot hole into the plastic to insert the screws. Hope that helps.
