Permission given by City Transportation to put KidAlert in our busy crosswalk. We will soon have two KidAlerts on our two busy streets. It has been the only type of caution we were allowed to display.

Totally love the child likeness. Our green "Franklin" is well known in the community. Several related stories have been shared regarding his importance. We have had to replace two "KidAlerts" as they have been taken from their site. I have had many calls from people who would like to get one for their personal use. I definitely recommend it to friends and families.

Our preschool families are concerned when we do not have our KidAlert out for them.

We have had the green "KidAlerts" previously and they had two stands for each of them that we weighed down with sand. Our newest "KidAlert" is yellow and it has one stand. I prefer having two stands in order to keep the figure in place in the street. Time will tell about the color and figure change.

I use it on my yard. It is very cute. I notice that after I have it out, one neighbor bought it too. I really want everybody with kids on my street to have the same. The shipping was very fast. I thought because it was Christmas week I wouldn't get it on time for our family party, but I did! I was very happy! The only concern is to keep it safe. We don't leave in the safest place on earth anymore... Things have changed... So I put a steel chain around de waist and around the palm tree and tied up. Maybe this is something that should be added to a future design!

            Comments about Step2 KidAlert! V.W.S.:

Safety Sam really does work great. We put SS out only when the children are playing outside, and cars really do slow down, whereas they would not before, even when the children were playing in the same area.

When assembling, I could not get the "foot" into the base. I called customer service, who said to take a blow dryer to it to soften the plastic a little. I heated up one of the nubs in the base that the foot snaps onto, and sure enough, the foot snapped on no problem.

It's durable and, even when the base is filled with sand, is easy to move around.

THOMAS G: BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS. I PUT THIS OUT IN MY STREET ON LONG ISLAND, NY. CARS ACTUALLY SLOW DOWN FOR THE CHILDREN WHILE THEY RIDE BIKES AND WHATNOT. Apr 7, 2013
Jessica asked: The flag poll of this product is not safe at all. The sun beats on it and makes it splinter. It is fiberglass and when that gets into the skin it is very painful. Could you please consider a safer poll? The turtles are wonderful but the polls need a better composition. Aug 8, 2013

Dawn M: We love using this child to remind parents to drive slowly in our parking lot. We dress him/her up for the different seasons - a scarf in winter or swim goggles for summer- now it has a Halloween hat on. Oct 15, 2013

Erin M: It's supposed to look like a kid wearing a hat, holding the flag. Ours did not come with the decal saying "slow down" or whatever it says. It still serves its purpose when we place it near the curb. Oct 15, 2013

Bess Z: You would have to check with your local police department.

However, wouldn't think so as it could be a traffic hazzard. Ours is as close to the street as we can get it and the orange flag hangs slightly over the pavement which draws attention to it.

Step2Staff: We wouldn?t recommend putting them in the middle of the road as they could cause an accident. They are meant to be put in a yard or near driveway to warn drivers that children are playing nearby. They should be taken in when children are no longer playing. Nov 5, 2013

Heidi B: I doubt it. I put mine on the curb. It's very visible and seems to get everyone's attention well. People drive very fast on my street and I notice them slow down to a crawl when the sign is out. Nov 4, 2013
