Permission given by City Transportation to put KidAlert in our busy crosswalk. We will soon have two KidAlerts on our two busy streets. It has been the only type of caution we were allowed to display.

Totally love the child likeness. Our green "Franklin" is well known in the community. Several related stories have been shared regarding his importance. We have had to replace two "KidAlerts" as they have been taken from their site. I have had many calls from people who would like to get one for their personal use. I definitely recommend it to friends and families.

Our preschool families are concerned when we do not have our KidAlert out for them.

We have had the green "KidAlerts" previously and they had two stands for each of them that we weighed down with sand. Our newest "KidAlert" is yellow and it has one stand. I prefer having two stands in order to keep the figure in place in the street. Time will tell about the color and figure change.

    Comments about Step2 KidAlert! V.W.S.:

bright, visible, drivers seem to pay attention to it. we have it at the edge of our driveway and put it out when we play basketball.

very happy with it, easy to put together and looks like it will be sturdy.

only drawback so far is that it comes with a red warning flag that comes rolled up and so far has not straigntened out.

Loved that it was heavy enough to stay in place, but easy to move with one hand, while carrying child in other hand for setting out, or clean up time. It is very visible, even when we set it out during night parties at our farm.

        Comments about Step2 KidAlert! V.W.S.:

GREAT product to get people's attention that there are children playing in the area. We place it at the beginning of a circle that people tend to speed around even though it is a condo complex and not a public road. Neighbors know there are children that may not be seen until the last minute, but they still speed so this is used at the entrance as a reminder. We do not leave it up 24 hours a day, but only put it out when the kids are outside; otherwise, the drivers will get used to seeing it and ignore it over time.

I have been looking for something to put at the end of my driveway to slow down drivers who speed down my street- this is it. This is very attractive, well made and actually does the job- drivers slow down! We're very happy that we purchased this little guy and recommend him.

            Comments about Step2 KidAlert! V.W.S.:

As all of our Step2 items, the Kid Alert "sign" is made of high quality, durable plastic. The assembly was easy (you need some strength to push the boy into the stand) and took about 1 minute, including placing the decals onto the boy. The signs work and I believe that they will last a long time (we store them in our garage when not using them).

The bright yellow boy and the orange flag get the attention of drivers who always slow down upon seeing the warning sign of kids playing. We live in a cul-de-sac at the end of a long, suburban neighborhood road (.3 miles). Cars/trucks often use the circle to turn-around, while driving much faster than they should (and above the speed limit). We put two of these "signs" out in different locations to get the attention of drivers and so that they cannot easily whip around the circle.

Also, with a coupon from Step2 (10 dollars off), we found the best price right here even with shipping charges.

Lastly, the kids (3 to 5 years old) love the signs and love helping to set them up and take them down. The only "issue" is that sometimes the kids want to play with their safety signs. I must admit, they little sign guys are pretty cute. Thanks Step2!!

Jessica asked: The flag poll of this product is not safe at all. The sun beats on it and makes it splinter. It is fiberglass and when that gets into the skin it is very painful. Could you please consider a safer poll? The turtles are wonderful but the polls need a better composition. Aug 8, 2013

Dawn M: We love using this child to remind parents to drive slowly in our parking lot. We dress him/her up for the different seasons - a scarf in winter or swim goggles for summer- now it has a Halloween hat on. Oct 15, 2013

Bess Z: You would have to check with your local police department.

However, wouldn't think so as it could be a traffic hazzard. Ours is as close to the street as we can get it and the orange flag hangs slightly over the pavement which draws attention to it.

Step2Staff: We wouldn’t recommend putting them in the middle of the road as they could cause an accident. They are meant to be put in a yard or near driveway to warn drivers that children are playing nearby. They should be taken in when children are no longer playing. Nov 5, 2013
