We live on a busy road and my mailbox has been run into and knocked down a couple of times but has not actually been damaged at all. Most recently my daughter's friend hit it with her large SUV and while the post was knocked over, there wasn't a scratch on it! This is the most durable mailbox I've ever owned and I would highly recommend this product!

nice LOOKING mailbox. now I have to buy one for the winter months. if ya hope/plan to have this product for more than one year? treat it like a bird bath and store it for the FROST season.. in below freezing temps. plastic cracks like glass. and snow plows don't slow down for fair weather mailboxes... for the portion of us that don't have to worry about extreme weather?? never mind. but if you can relate? you've been warned. 10 years working in blow molding for Hasbro and living in the northeast.. is how I know these things...

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® Classic Plus Mailbox:

The gray color is the reason I purchased it and it looks much better then most mailboxes. The door that faces our home would not stay closed and since we don't use it we caulked it shut. The street facing door's tabs broke off this winter and we hope we can replace just the door. The mailbox was just purchased in 2013 but we have had two very rough winters.

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® Classic Plus Mailbox:

I cannot yet respond to how it holds up to weather because it is relatively new and has not "experienced" severe weather (snow, extreme cold or extreme heat).

I especially like the gray color in lieu of the more common dark green or tan mailboxes.

I currently have this exact mailbox. I have had it 6-7 years now. Loved it, right color and design with the house. I live outside Buffalo NY and snowplow just blew it up!! and many others along streets. No fault of the product, it has survived many nasty winters here, but plow drivers are more reckless nowdays !!

We previously owned the same box. But sadly was run over by a car. What would have been the cost of just the post-the box itself survived?

I chose this mail box for its color and looks as well as usefulness.

Does Step 2 make a double mailbox (in this or any other model?)?
    KenInOhio on Dec 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, no. You can find all Step2 Mailboxes here:

Is bottom column hollow all the way to top & how tall is column?
    James W on May 25, 2013
BEST ANSWER: yes it is. I would have to measure the column to answer that. we bought this mailbox because it was gray and matches our shutters and roof. we have purchased it 3 times in the last 3 or 4 years. once for a rental house we own and twice for our personal mailbox. our 1st one was "exploded" by vandals. it is a nice mailbox.
How is this round base attached securely to a square post? Does it have a square insert within the column?
