If you buy this because you live in a snowy area and think it is sturdy enough to withstand a snowplow- guess again! Ours has been taken out too many times to count and is currently being held together w/ metal straps and wire! Will replace it with something cheaper in the spring. Bought this one after our cheap one was destroyed the first winter and figured this would fair better! Wrong! I know there is no claim from the company to the effect it could stand up to a snowplow, but the sturdy appearance would make you think so! (According to our highway dept. the plow never actually hits the mailbox- it's the force of the snow!)

This mailbox has plenty of space inside for letters, magazines, etc. The walnut color is very attractive. It's very sturdy and will likely last for many years. It required very little assembly unlike other mailboxes we considered. We're very satisfied with this product!

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® Plus Mailbox:

I have owned a Step 2 mailbox for several years and it provided maintenance free service for all those years.
However, the model I owned did not have a newspaper tube, and that's why I ordered a new Step 2 Plus which I received in a timely manner. Furthermore, it was very easy to remove the old mailbox and install the new one on the same post.

Can you get replacement parts (front door & flag) for the Mailmaster Step2 model?
          A shopper on Jul 9, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You can purchase the front door and flag for this mailbox through our Customer Service Department. Please call toll free 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET and we will be happy to assist you with this request.
are the doors held shut with magnets?
          A shopper on Nov 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes. At the top near where the handle is.
What is the flap for hanging down from the back door?? Instructions are very vague. Thank you.
          A shopper on Apr 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I agree about the insructions being a bit confusing regarding the flap, but the flap really is just a back to what we refer to as the newspaper slot below the mail area. The flap allows easy access while still protecting contents from the elements.
How tall (in inches) are the address decals? TIA.
          A shopper on Jun 9, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The numbers provided with the box are 2 3/8" x 1 3/8"
Can the "door" be fixed by just inserting into the holes in the mailbox? Someone took mine off last night and put it inside the box.
          A shopper on Jan 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: yes...i believe it just pops back into place if it hasn't been damaged
The lower compartment I use for delivery of fliers and newspapers. There is no door on the front and the back opening has a flip-flop cover hinged to the box that flip-flops in the wind. When we have storms and/or wind, the newspaper gets blown away. Suggestion is to close off the back of the mail box compartment and the newspaper apartment. Then add a door on the front of the newspaper compartment. Should be cheaper to manufacture and protects both compartments during strorms. Knowing this can not be done for those on slaes shelves, could you supply a fitted insert that could be secured on the end and greatly reduce air flow through the newspaper compartment?
          A shopper on Jan 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your suggestion. We will pass it along to our Research & Development team.
I just picked up this mailbox from Lowes, the box shows what looks lik an updated design as pictured on the website here (screws on inside & number location). However the actual mailbox seems to be an older unit (screws on the outside) and no location for the house number. How can i make sure i get a new unit?
          A shopper on Oct 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Why were the screws moved to the outside? It seems to me that that's a step in the wrong direction. On the outside, they're exposed to the elements and will quickly rust, and the ensuing rust staines will look awful.
Does this type of mailbox come with provisions for 2 mailboxes on 1 post?
          Robert B on Jul 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: No, designed for only one mail box
Are parts available for repairs?. I am interested in the fasteners that hold the top portion to the base.
          A shopper on Jun 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You can order replacement parts through our Customer Service Department. Please call toll free 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET and we will be happy to assist you with this request.
Where can I find the step2 mail master deluxe with 2 paper compartments in black or stone.?
          A shopper on Apr 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, we no longer offer the MailMaster Deluxe Mailbox at this time.
Is this product available in T3 size? Since I can't see the unit locally, to touch/feel, I normally fill a T3 size regularly with mail and packages. Thanks. I like the look at stying of these units.
          Bob W on Feb 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The MailMaster® Plus Mailbox letter compartment dimensions are 8" high by 7" wide by 18" deep.
Is there a similar product available with just the mailbox, NO post? I love this mailbox and would like to post it on my brick entry wall, so the post is not needed.
          A shopper on Feb 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No. Unfortunately, we do not offer the mailbox portion only. All MailMaster® mailboxes come with the mailbox and the post (does not include wooden 4x4 post).
Does the MailMaster Plus come with 2 newspaper slots under the mailbox?
          earl k on Jan 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, the MailMaster Plus Mailbox only has 1 newspaper slot.
I've had this mail box for 5 months . Why do I get snow inside the box ? How can this be corrected ?
          A shopper on Jan 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The MailMaster Plus Mailbox creates a seal when closed and should not allow any snow inside the mailbox. Please make sure the magnetic latches on your mailbox are working properly. If a magnetic latch is not securing properly, please call our Customer Service team at 1-800-347-8372 and we will be happy to assist you with this issue.
          From this website,
          We are given the external product dimensions - (H x W x D) 51” x 23.25” x 12.5” (129.5 x 59 x 31.8 cm)
          We are also given the packaging dimensions - (H x W x D) 39” x 22” x 13.25” (99 x 55.9 x 33.6 cm)
And we are even told what size post to use - standard 4”x 4” (10.2 x 10.2 cm) post

But we are not given the dimensions of the "Spacious interior to hold letters, magazines and catalogs with room to spare"

Where I am I cannot go to a shop where I could measure one of these but I would really like to know what are the practical internal dimensions of this box? To put it simply, what are the measurements of the largest box you could put into this mailbox (and take out again)?

          Thanks in advance
          A shopper on Aug 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The interior dimensions of the MailMaster® Plus Mailbox are 8 inches high by 7 inches wide by 18 inches deep.
does this require cement in the post hole?
          A shopper on Jun 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This mailbox requires a standard 4" x 4" post cut to 48-inch length. For detailed assembly instructions, please visit: http://images.step2.com/media/pdfs/540200_assembly.pdf
What is the interior size of the mail box?
          A shopper on May 26, 2014
          BEST ANSWER: The interior dimensions are: 8.25" H x 7.25" W x 18.75" D
We just purchased a new mailbox and it is great! My question is we have a letter "N" in front of our address numbers, why aren't there any letters included?
          A shopper on May 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately we do not offer letters for the mailbox. These may be found at your local craft or hardware store. We appreciate your feedback and will pass the suggestion on to all of the appropriate departments for review.
No instructions inside the box. However, installation seems pretty simple. Problem is I have too many screws...looks like two extra from what is shown on the box. Any ideas?
          A shopper on Apr 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The instructions are also available electronically here: http://images.step2.com/media/pdfs/540200_assembly.pdf For further assistance with assembly, please give us a call at 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET.

          Thanks.
          A shopper on Apr 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This mailbox can be painted with Krylon Fusion found at most retail and hardware stores.
The mail door will not stay shut. The magnet doesn't seem to work anymore. Can you buy a replacement one or have a suggestion?

I purchased my first mailbox from you when you first introduced them many years ago. A car finally plowed directly into it at speed and totaled it. Replaced it with a new one. Anyways, I need to throw out the pieces of the old one. Is the plastic a type that can be put out with my recyclables? If so, what is the number designation of the plastic for recycling?
CB in Cleveland on Mar 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this mailbox can be recycled at level 4.
Are you going to re-stock the Walnut color for this mailbox?
          Scott H. on Mar 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The Walnut color is currently out of stock. This mailbox will be available again once it is back in stock.
Our mailbox is getting a green tint on one side (I assume its moss) do you recommend a safe cleaner for the plastic. Also the flag is getting a white chalky look, do you recommend a wax or protective product to condition and protect both the mailbox and flags plastic?
          Kim B on Nov 20, 2013

seems the piece C to attach in the back of post is about 1/2" too narrow, is this normal? also the 3" screws seem to be too short and also do not seem to be stainless or galvinzed. I have notice alot of my neighbors are rusted. Please advise.
