Nice mail box

Good product packaging. Fast shipment. Simple instructions. Looks like the mailbox would last for a long time(good construction).

If I had known the mail box has a gaping hole in the base front, I would not hve purchased the mail box. I cannot believe technology in this country would turn out such a glaring design failure. I definitely will not recommend this product without informing the potential customer of the design faults.

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® Stone Hill Plus Mailbox:

After reading several comments regarding the unattractive cutout in the bottom post and seeing the situation in the assembly plans, I examined the possibility of reversing the bottom post so that the good-looking insert faced forward toward the street. Turns out that the upper mailbox part is symmetrical and it works! First remove the two screws holding the newspaper flap and move the flap to the other end of the receptacle and reattach with the screws. Then insert the upper mailbox in the OPPOSITE direction of that shown on the assembly instructions. Now you can use the nice filler part for the front of the post and avoid the ugly cutout!

Thanks Step2 for a terrific mailbox (hope the vandals leave it alone).

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® Stone Hill Plus Mailbox:

We bought this as a gift for my son, whose old mailbox mounted on a pipe gave up the ghost. The pole is substantial and bent at an angle because a car had taken it out a few years ago. This product permitted us to still mount to the same pole and have a surprisingly straight vertical mailbox. I'm so impressed, I can't wait til my mailbox needs to be replaced, cause I'm buying one of these for us.

Timothy B: Yes you need a post to go into the ground and for the mailbox to bolt to. This is going to be the easiest way. You can call your local lowes and I am sure they can give you a number to call to have someone come over and install it for you if you don't know anyone. Oct 28, 2013

            Nonnie S: Hi Timothy,
Thanks for answering my question about stabilizing the mailbox...guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get someone to help me install it ... want to do it the best way, and your comment helped. Oct 29, 2013
RHONDA D: I do not know of any way that this mailbox could be installed without using a
4x4. The box is hollow to fit over the 4x4 and than bolts secure the actual mailbox to the 4x4 (that is the anchor) which keeps the mailbox sturdy and in place.

Berton B: I think you would like this mailbox...I have gone thru four that were vandalized in the past eight years. One of the reasons I selected this one was because of the 4X4 post supporting it. I don't think it would stand up with out the post. Nov 2, 2013
