I have had this mailbox for over 10 years and last night someone decided to try and move it. They hit it with their car, hard enough to knock it across the driveway and scatter my stones, that I had around it, all over the place. Thanks to the concrete, the 4 x 4 post and the indestructable plastic it will be put back up. There is about a 2 inch dent where the bumper hit it and it did stop the car, before they ran away. Great product.

I already had an existing 4 x 4 post holding the old mail box. I only had to measure up 24" and saw it off. The new mailbox went right onto the old post. Total installation time was 30 minutes.

I am writing to let potential buyers know that the quality of this mailbox is great. My mailbox was apparantly hit with a baseball bat yesterday. I found it over 25 ft away from the post/base. Upon impact Both doors, front & back flew in two different directions. With the help of a neighbor we were able to snap the doors back on, slip the mailbox onto the base, and re-attach with the screws. The only real damage is that the red flag was broken off, looks like that was the impact point with the bat. I would recommend this product for durability!

Have had a step 2 mailbox for several years. Need to replace only because it has been hit twice now by the snow plow. Going to keep the one we presently have for the winter time and put new one up for the warmer weather. Good product !!

        David H on Sep 30, 2013
I like that the mailbox actually bolts to the post for more durability. Most others simply slide on and are easily knocked off & broken (like my old one) I hope it works... my faith is in Step2!
        Mike A on Jul 18, 2013
I had a stone one before for about 15 years. Beautiful!!! No problems whatsoever until someone this winter (might have been a school bus) actually ran right into it and split the plastic to a point it could not be repaired. I have it taped together with duct tape now but I did not want to replace it until after all the snow storms were finished for the winter. I really love this product. Normal wear and tear cannot ruin it. Get one, you cannot go wrong.

Janie B: Is the TrimLine a post and mail box in one like the standard size one. I want to replace a standard size MailMaster that was hit and run. Is it still made and available?? Has anyone bought a standard size recently and if so where?
        Janie B on Dec 27, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure what you mean exactly by "in one like the standard size one," but yes, it is standard size. As I recall the top slides onto the plastic base when you are putting it together. It does not come off though, if that is your concern. You will need a standard wood post to slide the base over. You can purchase that at Ace or home improvement store. I ordered the mailbox online, since all I could find in stores had the newspaper/package slot, which I didn't want. I really like this mailbox. It is durable and nice looking, and most importantly, opens from the back-which I need since I live on a busy street.
What is the Int. dimensions on the trimeline box?
        A shopper on Jul 5, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Length is 19 to 19 1/2 inches depending on whether or not you're measuring just the plastic "floor" of the box or including the space between that and the outer door. It appears to be 5 5/8" wide and 4 3/4" high, except by the doors (it fans out by the doors to make it easier to see what's inside and reach in.
how deep in the ground should the post be?
        Daulton T on Aug 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: We recommend a 4 inch by 4 inch post that is 4 feet long. 2 feet in the ground and 2 feet out of the ground.
