I WISH IT HAD CAME WITH REFLECTORS INSTEAD OF NUMBERS, ITS HARD TO FIND ONE THAT FITS THE SPACE. IT WOUL DJUST BE A NICE OPTION. I HAD TO CUT OUR POST, WHICH WAS ALWAYS AT A NORMAL HEIGHT, SO BEWARE AND HAVE A SAW HANDY JUST IN CASE. THIS ONE REPLACED OUR OTHER ONE AND IT WORKS GREAT. THE INSIDE IS A BIT TIGHTER THAN THE METAL ONES, BUT IT KEEPS IT DRY AND NO REPAINTING FOR LIFE! (ALSO WOULD BE NICE IF IT HAD A FLOOR FLOWER BOX NEXT TO IT, SINCE IT HAS A WINDOW AND LOOKS LIKE A HOUSE.

I do not like the back and front post of the mail box. I can not understand why ANYONE would put the green back cover on it, my neighbor has the same color as the post, and what a difference it makes. I know it is an older one and why can't you make two small covers to hide the bolts on the front. even if the price was a litter more, it sure would be worth it. and if I had not opened it, and my grandson put it up, I would have sent it back.
You have a very nice product, but I these changes would show much more quality in the design.

    Cons

    • Boring
    • Fades in Sun
    • No Newspaper Holder
    • Nothing Special About It

    Best Uses

    • Basic Budget Priced

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® Villager Mailbox:

It can't rust, and that is great, but anything that is metal on it, such as the nuts and bolts that attach it to the wood 4x4 will rust.

If you need just a basic mailbox & post and can't spend much money this one will work. Just make sure the architecture of your home goes with this mailbox. I would suggest something more appropriate if you have a high-end home.

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® Villager Mailbox:

It needs pop-in covers for the bolts. The bolts show on the presenting face of the product-distracts from the beauty of the product. we have had many strangers comment on the "Bird house appearance" of the product as opposed to "just another plastic mailbox". Even the mail carrier left a note on the unique design. Why isn't it available at [@] and [@] ?This is a classy product. Eye-catching. Very pleased.

Benny B asked: How long a post is necessary for this mailbox. You say 72 inches then say 2 ft below ground and 2 ft above ground????? Jun 26, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
John W: 2 ft below ground level is to deep - your not holding up a fence. - 12 to 16 inches max depending on the soil. Don't recall how long the post needs to be above ground level. Seems the inclosed instructions listed that info -- maybe 36 inches. Box works grea, no rust and stood up to hurican Sandy on the NJ shore Jun 26, 2014
Reply to John Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Ron G: The post should stick about 19 inches above ground because the mailbox has 2 holes to secure it to the post.
The top hole is actually a 3 inch long "hole" or slot and the top of this slot is about 19 inches high.
