I WISH IT HAD CAME WITH REFLECTORS INSTEAD OF NUMBERS, ITS HARD TO FIND ONE THAT FITS THE SPACE. IT WOUL DJUST BE A NICE OPTION. I HAD TO CUT OUR POST, WHICH WAS ALWAYS AT A NORMAL HEIGHT, SO BEWARE AND HAVE A SAW HANDY JUST IN CASE. THIS ONE REPLACED OUR OTHER ONE AND IT WORKS GREAT. THE INSIDE IS A BIT TIGHTER THAN THE METAL ONES, BUT IT KEEPS IT DRY AND NO REPAINTING FOR LIFE! (ALSO WOULD BE NICE IF IT HAD A FLOOR FLOWER BOX NEXT TO IT, SINCE IT HAS A WINDOW AND LOOKS LIKE A HOUSE.

I do not like the back and front post of the mail box. I can not understand why ANYONE would put the green back cover on it, my neighbor has the same color as the post, and what a difference it makes. I know it is an older one and why can't you make two small covers to hide the bolts on the front. even if the price was a litter more, it sure would be worth it. and if I had not opened it, and my grandson put it up, I would have sent it back.
You have a very nice product, but I these changes would show much more quality in the design.

    Pros

    • Can't Rust

    Cons

    • Boring
    • Fades in Sun
    • No Newspaper Holder
    • Nothing Special About It

    Best Uses

    • Basic Budget Priced

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® Villager Mailbox:

It can't rust, and that is great, but anything that is metal on it, such as the nuts and bolts that attach it to the wood 4x4 will rust.

If you need just a basic mailbox & post and can't spend much money this one will work. Just make sure the architecture of your home goes with this mailbox. I would suggest something more appropriate if you have a high-end home.

It needs pop-in covers for the bolts. The bolts show on the presenting face of the product-distracts from the beauty of the product. we have had many strangers comment on the "Bird house appearance" of the product as opposed to "just another plastic mailbox". Even the mail carrier left a note on the unique design. Why isn't it available at [@] and [@] ?This is a classy product. Eye-catching. Very pleased.

we purchased this about 13-14 years ago and drove it home from Ohio to NJ. It survived and still looked great until today's latest snow storm and a young inexperienced winter driver. We love the look had to have it again.

A gift! And we liked it! We shopped at our local stores but didn't find a good selection. This was perfect for the price and appearance.

I have had this mailbox for 10+ years and I love it, especially because it is the same color combo as my house. However, it has finally faded out in the sun to where it's not cute anymore. So happy to be able to order a replacement that will once again add to my home's curb appeal!!

How long a post is necessary for this mailbox. You say 72 inches then say 2 ft below ground and 2 ft above ground?????
      Benny B on Jun 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: 2 ft below ground level is to deep - your not holding up a fence. - 12 to 16 inches max depending on the soil. Don't recall how long the post needs to be above ground level. Seems the inclosed instructions listed that info -- maybe 36 inches. Box works grea, no rust and stood up to hurican Sandy on the NJ shore
what are the inside dimensions of the mailbox?
      b z on Apr 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The inside dimensions are 71/2 inches wide by 18 inches deep. The height is 8 1/2 inches.
Should this product included a back cover for the exposed post ?
      Donna R on Apr 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It is SUPPOSED to be included. However, mine was not included when the mailbox was shipped to me, but I called STEP 2 & it was sent under a separate mailing. The cover is dark GREEN. I really love this mailbox!
      WHAT COLOR IS THAT ?
      A shopper on Dec 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The mailbox is a light tan color with a green roof. It has held up well and has not faded.
I'm looking for a box that looks like your villager but it has the paper box on bottom. Ive searched and search but I only found a photo and it was the exact box you sell but had no info with it. I guess what I'm asking is do or have you ever made the villager box with a paper box attached?
      Michael S on May 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Michael. Unfortunately, the MailMaster Villager Plus Mailbox with the newspaper compartment is no longer available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
I need a locking mailbox, does this one lock?
      john L on Sep 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, the MailMaster® Villager Mailbox does not have a lock.
