My boy just turned 1 year old and I got it for his birthday; he loves it! He can't go fast on it yet as he can't quite coordinate his feet because he just started walking, but it helps him with his balance and it makes for great fun when I push him around the house. (it's definitely safe if your 1 year old is big like mine, otherwise, i'd wait 'till 18 months or so).
He gets upset if I don't do it fast enough!
Since he can't say bike he calls it his "vroom-vroom". Great experience.

Was very very disappointed in this model. We bought the previous version of it 12 years ago for our oldest and have looked for another one like it every since. We were so excited to see Step 2 was again putting it back into production only to find that this was the newer model. The 1st requires balance and taught young children much needed motor skills. All of our children including our girls have ridden the old one, that is still very much being used, and at the age of 4 taken off on a bike without the aid of any training wheels. Very disappointed in this newer bike and desperately wanting the old one to be put back into production.

Comments about Step2 Motorcycle:

Our son has thoroughly enjoyed his red motorcycle. It's very sturdy. He rides it all over the house. The only down side was it was a little challenging to assemble due to a couple of the steps requiring some skill and muscle. All in all we were able to put it together in the end and it was worth the struggle. Perfect Christmas present.

The Motorcyle Step 2 is used for morning exercise fun outside and after nap exercise fun. My neighbor had one before me and she shared with my foster children. We have had ours a month now. It is used daily. The children between 2 and 4 don't get tired of it and are learning to share since it is in so much demand.

      Comments about Step2 Motorcycle:

We bought this as a Christmas present for our friend's daughter because she loves my motorcycle. She really likes it but we felt it tips over too easily. After some practice she was more stable on it. The wheels need to be wider for more stability right from the beginning.

Mike K: I guess it would come down to the age of the rider considering the size of the bike prob under 3yrs old. I myself would never allow my children ages 3 and 5 to ride anything on 2 wheels WITHOUT a helmet. All it takes is one fall to cause a devastating head injury. Get in the practice of always suiting them up they will get used to it and you will feel better when they are scooting around. MY SON LOVES THIS little motorcycle... Nov 14, 2013

Susan G: Not if he/she only rides it inside the house. If it's ridden outside or on any hard surface like concrete, yes, I would say they would need a helmet. Nov 14, 2013

Nancy L: I don't think so. It has a pretty wide base and won't tip over. As most ride-alongs, both feet are on the ground most of the time. Nov 15, 2013

A shopper asked: After reading the many great reviews, I'm convinced that the motorcycle is highly recommended but to my surprise, I couldn't find any Q&A about whether the handle bars make the entire front end turn or just that front wheel to turn OR neither one? I'm asking because in the past, I've bought some off brand, much cheaper versions with steering wheels attached but not for steering and front wheels that don't turn side to side. I'd appreciate an answer from anyone that owns one, it's really urgent, my grandson will be 2 on March 7th 2014 and I would love to give this to him at his party. Thank you so much. Feb 27, 2014

Karen B: The motorcycle doesn't turn at all. The handle bars are basically just to hang on to. But don't let that deter you. I have 4 kids from 3-5 and they ALL love this motorcycle. Feb 28, 2014

Laura J asked: Hi! I am looking to get my son a step 2 motorcycle for xmas. There are two different ones listed on walmart's web site and one listed on yours. The product dimensions and price differ on all three. I guess I am wanting to know the difference between them. Walmart lists a step 2 ride on toy - motorcycle for $23, and a free wheeling motorcycle for $38.86. And then you have one on this site for $29.99 that looks like the one on Walmart's website for 23. But it is listed with different dimensions and weight requirements??

Please help me in this matter as I am clearly confused??

Steven A: I assume you've tried to pry it off and that didn't work. If the wheels are not yet attached to the motorcycle, Step2 might be able to send you replacement parts. If the whole toy is stuck together wrong, you may need to buy a new one. The assembly instructions are sometimes hard to read and occasionally just seem to be wrong. It's very frustrating and I sympathize with you. Jul 14, 2013

wanda a.: I bought this for my grandson for Christmas and made the mistake of messing up the bolt that goes on the motorcyle tire. It only goes on one time and locks in place. So if you mess up your out of luck because the company only sends you two one for each side. Now I have a motorcyle sitting here that doesnt work. It would be nice if a few extra parts would have been included. This thing was not easy to put together. Jan 20, 2014
