We bought this swing set for our daughter's 2nd birthday. She absolutely loves it. We put a baby swing in place of one of the swings for our 6 month old. This is a great set that they will enjoy for many years to come. My husband put it together all by himself in less that an hour.

Swing set is OK. For the price, I expected much higher quality. One of the U shaped stakes broke in half during installation, and the ground was very soft at the time. One of the bolts for the swing extension was completely missing threads. Had to run to the hardware store in the middle of the assembly for a replacement bolt. Most frustrating is the bottom step of the ladder is "squishy". It is a single piece of injection molded plastic, but the bottom step isn't hardened like the rest of the steps. I am not sure if the plastic undergoes some sort of oven hardening process or a chemical is added to harden it, but the bottom step feels very different from the rest of the piece. We went with Step2 for the durability and quality of other Step2 products we have purchased. Despite the additional cost for Step2 products, this is the first time we've been underwhelmed. May have to think twice before purchasing such a big item from Step2 again.

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful® Playhouse Climber & Swing Extension:

There were a few areas that were difficult to assemble. The slide didn't go in very easily as well as part of the pole portion. We also wish there was at least another foot added on the swing portion because it needs just a little more room so child doesn't go into the side. It is a bit boring overall. Swings and slide. We will be adding a sand pit inside the house portion so maybe just a couple more bells and whistles like spinners or something would help but really overall for younger children. Not too bad.

LOVE this swing set I bought it 15yrs ago for my youngest son who is now turning 18y/o. It has been moved 5 times I have loaned it to friends who had grandchildren and then when my grand daughter was born took it to my older son's home and yesterday moved it back to mine. My son and his family are home again and we are expecting a new granddaughter next month and I'm sure she will enjoy it as much as her 5y/o sister has. We have replaced the swing ropes a few times and added the pool for the slide and of course the baby swing but it has all been worth the investment.

work with preschoolers...had a set that was donated to the school after the original owners had it for 8 years, it still has life in it and the kids really enjoy it...That is why I purchased it for my grandchild...don't see any child over 5 being interested in it for long...great for little ones 2-4...I would strongly recommend it BUT it's only 1 month old and most of my praise is for the one at the school

Hi, I received this slide and climber from a friend, but it did not come with the swing extension. Can I purchase this add on separately? Thanks
        A shopper on Apr 21, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You can purchase this separately through our Customer Service Department. Please call toll free 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET and we will be happy to assist you with this request. Please note, the shipping price of this extension is pretty expensive. I just want you to be aware of this in advance.
        Hello,

Buying used from a friend and the swings are completly missing on the extension bar. Where can i purchase the parts needed to install new swings? Thanks:)

I would like to prepare the ground by removing the grass and adding rubber playground mulch prior to installation of this play set. Could anyone tell me what the dimensions of the prepared space should be?
        Crystal G on May 26, 2013
BEST ANSWER: We recommend the prepared space for this swingset should be about 6 ft
How bad does the sun fade the naturally playhouse climber slide swingset? is there anything i can put on it to help that problem? Besides full shade which i do not have. does watering the yard or rain do damage to it? looking for long time owner to tell me about fading, how it weathers the seasons, wear n tear etc. Thank you
        A shopper on Jun 9, 2013
BEST ANSWER: We have owned our playset for almost two years now and it has held up really well. No real fading from the sun. It is in direct sunlight and we live in the desert. Ours is hit by the sprinklers and has some white spots due to hard water stains. So it just depends on what kind of water you have. The only problem we have with it not being in the shade is the slide gets VERY hot! It is best to run some water on it for a few minutes to cool it down in the summer before the kiddos slide down. Otherwise this is a great product and I would highly recommend it. Awesome for little kids.
Will the Step2 Toddler Swing be able to be used with the playhouse Climber & Swing Extension?
        Laura F on Mar 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Not sure. We used the toddler swing that my son and daughter in law already had. It was not a step 2 but it worked fine. Hope this helps.
What are the dimensions of the slide support walls? Can i get them in my town and country minivan? Or what is the size of the shipping box?
        A shopper on Apr 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Was delivered to us via freight delivery. Packaged in huge boxes, so can't be delivered via standard shipping. However, if you purchased at a store, I believe you could take the pieces out of the boxes and they would fit (stacked up) in your van. The walls and the stairs are separate pieces that you put together to assemble, so they are not that tall/long until after assembly. The longest/tallest piece unassembled is the slide - which out of the box would fit in a van. The shipping boxes would not fit in a van.
I have a 4 year old and a 7 year old and would like to purchase a Step 2 swing set for them but I'm wondering how much use my 7 year old will get out of it. He is small for his age and I know the age recommendation is up to age 8 but these playsets look pretty small. Any advice???
        Carrie A on Jul 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Definitely too small for a 7 yr old. My petite 3 1/2 yr old has to bend over when standing in the playhouse part and the slide is very narrow. A 7 yr olds feet would not be high enough off the ground to enjoy swinging either. I would recommend this playset for your 4 yr old but your 7 yr old would probably not enjoy using it!
How much space (LxW) does this set safely require to be used? I have a small backyArd with a small patch of grass, the rest is concrete. Thanks.
        A shopper on Mar 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: When installing this swing set, create an obstacle-free site to reduce injury. Maintain a minimum distance of 6.5 feet (2 m) from structures or obstructions (examples: a fence, buildings, garages, houses, low hanging branches, tree stumps/roots, large rocks, bricks, concrete, laundry lines, or electrical wires). Do not install playground equipment over hard surfaces such as concrete asphalt, packed earth, grass, carpet or any other hard surface. For detailed installation instructions, please visit http://images.step2.com/media/pdfs/709300_assembly.pdf
What's the best way to secure this set in the ground?
        A shopper on Jul 9, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I comes with big stake type things to secure it. My babies are 3.5 and 1.5 and have never had any issues with it moving.
How tall is it from the deck to the ground?
        A shopper on Apr 17, 2013
BEST ANSWER: the playhouse climber is 37" from the top of the deck to the ground.
Where can I get the The Swing Extension Instruction sheet? I don't see it online. We received this from someone who's son out grew it and I'm trying to set it up but I think I may have missing parts.
        Jim W on Apr 10, 2013
BEST ANSWER: That is for the fort/house/slide part. On page 12 it states "If adding the Swing Extension stop here and refer to The Swing Extension Instruction sheet." That part is not included on your site or the link you just sent.
Can a glider swing be attached to this swing?
        A shopper on Jul 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: We have a 2 and 3 yo so we took off both regular swings and attached toddler swings. The hooks open like d rings so you can pretty much put on any swing you'd like.
I bought this from a friend. The swing next to the tower is too close, and bumps into the tower as the child swings. I wonder if the wrong end of the swing pole is inserted into the tower frame. Is there a "right or wrong" way to insert the swing extension pole into the tower frame?
Or is it because I have the whole set on unlevel ground? It definitely is not level.
        Anna C on Jun 6, 2013
BEST ANSWER: We have this set and do not have that problem. I feel the unleveled ground is the problem.
What does the pool look like that hooks to the slide? I didn't see a picture of it but a person selling hers says there is one.
        Rita R on May 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: There was a pool addition, but it is no longer available new. Take a look on Ebay, many of the sellers have a photos.
We have seen a basketball backboard on the adventure lodge play center and wonder if it is available for the playful playhouse climber and swing set extension that we have? Could that be a part that we could order and would it even fit the set that we own? Looking to add more for a five yr old to play with. Thanks
        A shopper on May 10, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I think this is a question for Step 2 directly. I am not sure why it was sent to me. I have this play system but don't know anything about a basketball backboard. My boys are 2 and 1. Sorry I can't help.
Hi I'm getting this climber and swing set from a friend. Is there any disassembly instructions or videos that could help me take it down myself? I'm sure it would be easier if I had assembled it once before which I have not. Thanks
        Mark F on May 9, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The best way to disassemble this swing set (or any of our kids toys) is to follow the instructions backward. Attached is a link to our assembly instructions for this Playhouse Climber & Swing Extension. http://images.step2.com/media/pdfs/709300_info.pd There is also a product assembly video that you can watch that may be helpful. http://www.showuhow.com/Home/Pre_sale_widget/Pre_sale_widgetStep2/tabid/10421/language/en-US/Default.aspx
Can you get a canopy for this? It looks like it's missing something...
        Falon J on Apr 20, 2013
BEST ANSWER: This set does not have anything to attach a canopy. We have it placed in partial shade so this was not an issue for us. Our granddaughter who was almost 2 when we got it loves it even now that she's almost 3. Maybe you need a different set?
Can you get a canopy for this? It looks like it's missing something...
        A shopper on Apr 20, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I don't think there is anywhere to mount a canopy.. If there was one...only short kids could play on the top. Not much height if covered with roof...but the little play house underneath is cute and covered.
Can you take this apart to move and reassemble?
        A shopper on May 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the Naturally Playful Playhouse Climber & Swing Extension was designed to be disassembled and reassembled as needed.

Our yard has a mild but noticeable slope (no truly flat areas). Any recommendations on how to set this up and orient it for safe play on an incline?
        Naomi F on Oct 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Naomi, I wish I could help but I am not sure how it would be set up on an incline since it comes with steel U bars that you use a rubber mallet to drive into the ground to keep it from tipping over. Maybe Step 2 has some information about installation on uneven ground...? I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
What is the manufactures suggestion for safety surface for this product?
        A shopper on Sep 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: We recommend that you do not install playground equipment over hard surfaces such as concrete asphalt, packed earth, grass, carpet or any other hard surface.
Can this slide hook up correctly to the big splash pool that step2 used to produce?

@Step 2 staff - can the bar that holds the swings can be cut to fit only one swing? My yard is long buy narrow and want to have more room on the sides of the play set. Only need one swing so did not know if this could be a option. Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Bill, no, we do not recommend any product modifications including, but not limited to, cutting the bar that holds the swings.
We have had this swing set for a few years and love it, we just moved and our new house does not have a backyard but does have a large porch. Is it possible to just use the playhouse/slide portion and not attach the long pole and side support that goes with the swing part? Is it sturdy enough without the swing part?
        Stephanie L on Aug 18, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You can use the playhouse/slide portion without the swing part, however, we would not recommend using it on a porch. Please refer the assembly instructions for warning and installation recommendations http://images.step2.com/media/pdfs/709300_assembly.pdf

Is there any way to put this together where you just have the swing part and not have the house or slide part? We have this but moved and now it is taken apart in a big pile.
