We bought this for Christmas for our then 26 month old twin daughters. They were small for their age, but quickly enjoyed playing with EVER option the house has to offer. We keep ours in the house, since we have the room. Eight months later, the girls STILL play in it everyday, and its a great "catch all" for their other toys. Also, they can mess up THAT house, instead of mine (meaning toys spread around the floor/house/etc). I plan on keeping the playhouse INSIDE for years to come. I am currently pregnant with my second set of twins and feel these little buggers will enjoy it just as much as the girls.
My husband had no problems putting the house together and said it was pretty easy. He did slide wooden dowels into some of the wall joints to add a little extra "sturdiness" to the house.
I would totally recommend this house to anyone who has kids. I can see how keeping it SPOTLESSLY CLEAN outside would be difficult, but, hey, its outside. But I've had no problems cleaning spilled milk out of its sink, or dusting it when it needed it. All in all, its a wonderful product, sturdy and my kids LOVE it, and really, thats all that matters!
Also, as you can see from my picture, the Step 2 "sticker" has fallen off the front of the house. That is the ONLY thing "bad" that has happened to this house, and those kids really play hard in there, as you can see! (Don't worry, every night, we pick up the mess, so they can do it all again the next day!)

My 2 1/2 year old son likes the playhouse okay but it isn't one of his top toys. Because it was a Christmas present we currently have it set up inside. He mainly takes some of his toys into it and plays with them in the floor inside of it. We could have accomplished this with a cheaper house or even a tent. He's not interested in the play sink or stove since they don't really do anything. I picked this playhouse because of the larger size. It is roomy enough for a few kids inside or one kid and one adult sitting on the floor (my husband and I both are tall). There are 4 very small shelves inside and some storage space under the sink. I wish there was more though. There is not much room to store play food or cookware. Also the phone does not stay on the little hook so I won't be surprised if it gets lost quickly. There is a play clock inside over the sink. The placement of the clock makes sense to adults but my son can't reach it and wants to turn the arms. I caught him climbing up on the sink trying to reach it. It would be better if it was at a lower level so that kids could actually play with it. Even better, put it at a lower level and make it talk to help them learn numbers and how to tell time. I'm hoping that as he gets a little older he'll do more pretend play inside. Overall, I think it is a nice playhouse but not I'm not sure it is worth the high price...maybe if they added a few more features.

I was happy with the product but, could not believe the ordeal of scheduling delivery (someone has to be there to sign for package)Scheduled and rescheduled delivery dates 5 different times. 4 of the dates the trucking co. set up were no call/no shows. This delivery tied up several family members time as someone needed to be available for the delivery. Ordered the playhouse on May 21st and finally received it June 5th at 4:30 p.m. That morning rec'd a message on machine from the SAIA trucking co. that stated if I didn't schedule a delivery date I would be charged a storage fee. I thought my head was going to start spinning around like that little girl possessed in the movie The Exorcists.

My 3 year old grandson loves this house. We haven't had other kids over to play yet, so I can't comment on group play. But he is having fun with his own house and we got him a grill as well, and he can grill just like his dad. We live in the country, on a hill, with lots of wind. So far, the house has stayed put. I would recommend this playhouse to anyone.

We bought this playhouse about four years ago when my daughter was a baby and my son was about three. I wanted something that they wouldn't grow out of too soon, and this was it! For a kid's playhouse, it is tall and big inside. My 7.5 year old still fits well in it and plays in it regularly. I can get in there with the hose and powerwash everything (they like to make mudpies in the sink) with the hose, no problem (I am about 5'8"). I know the price is so much higher than other toddler playhouses, but this has been a fabulous investment for our family. When we moved to another state, we disassembled it and brought it with us. I highly recommend!

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful® Welcome Home Playhouse™:

My 2 year old son loves to play in this house. Everytime he walks in, he rings the doorbell. I haven't put batteries in the play phone yet, but he pretends to makes calls all the time.

We have the house set up outside. I picked this house because I wanted a large one for him. I am 5'4" and am able to stand almost completely straight up in the middle of the house, so I don't feel he'll out grow it. There is plenty of space for me to sit inside, and he still can move around with ease.

I stocked the house with some play pots and pans and plates, bowls, and cups. He loves pretending to cook something and serve it at the table. It's got a good amount of storage space in the cabinet below the sink. I keep the 4pots under there along with the cooking utensils. I plan to get some sort of small storage bin to go under there for some play food. On either side of the drop-down table (can be fixed if desired) are 2 small shelves each. They aren't very deep, but his plates, bowls, cups, & pitcher fit on them no problem.

I didn't want this playhouse to sit on my grass, because I didn't want a big dead spot, nor did I want to have to move it weekly. We have an area of crushed granite, so I didn't want that to be the flooring. I bought some outdoor flooring tiles and placed the house on top in the crushed granite area. It has been working great.

Step2's customer service was excellent. When you buy this playhouse, toward the end of check-out they warn you it will be shipped by a delivery service and to not refuse delivery. If there is any damage or missing pieces, notify Step2 and they will ship the replacement pieces immediately. You must acknowledge this warning. Unfortunately, I had forgotten and the email confirmation/shipping notification never mentioned it. So I didn't tell my husband not to refuse delivery. The boxes were badly damaged with gaping holes and one of the walls had a hole punctured through it. My husband refused it. When I called customer service, the rep reminded me of this warning. She was very nice though and worked to notify the warehouse that it was coming back without a return number. She also got a replacement shipped out the next day with no extra charges. It arrived the following week. Boxes damaged, but product intact. We got it put together in under an hour.

I've attached pictures, but for some reason they load a bit stretched out.

I bought this house for my niece(2 1/2) last summer and she's growing into it. From the minute she went into the house, she loved it. We all play with her. I think she loves the fact that more than two people fit and can eat at the table while she's cooking. Awesome house.

Hello, have you got instructions for disassembly?
              Javier J on Apr 28, 2013
BEST ANSWER: We just had to disassemble ours to move it. It was actually very easy. Remove the screws on the inside of the house along the roofline and then push the roof off. You can then pull the walls apart. There are also four rods at the bottom of each corner. It might be easier to tip the house over and remove those first, but we were able to get the walls apart without removing them or damaging the house.
I have 2 & 6 year old girls. I am looking for a Playhouse that will not be too small for my older (6) Daughter. In my research this is the best option. Does anyone have any feedback or thoughts on how this works with their OLDER CHILDREN? It is a lot of money to throw away if they can not both play with it. THANK YOU !
              Dawn M on May 28, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, both girls. We love this playhouse! Both girls play inside no problem and the older cousins and neighborhood kids, including boys, play in and around it. At least 3 kids fit inside at a time and the windows open so there is always one or tow playing from the outside through the windows too. This is a great option for multiple kid families. We even had plexiglass cut to put in the topof the door, and kitchen and bay windows for the winter so it stayed dry and snow free. I expect to get many years of use out of this.
Is there any way to get new stickers?
              A shopper on Mar 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can purchase decals for this playhouse through our Customer Service Department. Please call toll free 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET and we will be happy to assist you with this request.
How do you get the water out of the walls? There appears to have mold inside the walls and I have no idea how to clean it.. any advice?
              JaimeB on Oct 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: If your product is accumulating water, you can drill a ¼ hole on bottom away from any seam line, tip it and this should drain out the water. If you have additional questions about this process please call toll free 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET and we will be happy to assist you.

BEST ANSWER: I purchased the playhouse for my granddaughters. I would guess it is about 5' x 6'. I am 5' tall and can stand up in it. The stated dimensions are very close. The girls are having a wonderful time playing in it and I would highly recommend it.
Does this playhouse have a floor?
              diane g on Jun 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The playhouse does not have a floor so we had one made from mani-made deck material. We left a little deck on the front and put flower boxes. Looks amazig. This is an amazing house and we worried about not having. A floor, but once we put the deck under it we were really happy.my little girl loves it! We did buy the Step2 chairs so she and her freinds can sit at the table inside.
The video makes it look like there is a floor...I'd rather a floor than on the grass.does anyone know?
              A shopper on May 18, 2013
BEST ANSWER: No floor...we built a wooden platform to put ours on finally because I hated it being on the grass. Everything stays much cleaner that way!
What is the size of the shipping box ?
              Afranio C on Jun 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The box was quite large and heavy. A delivery truck brought it to the end of the driveway. My son and son-in-law moved it into the house.

My grandchildren love the house and play in it a lot. I like that it is large enough for me to enter and have tea parties with them.

I have had it for a year and a half and I can say that it is durable. I do have it indoors though. Not sure how it would take the weather.
do you think this would be a good item for an almost 2 year old little girl?
              Magan M on Jun 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! This was a 3rd birthday present, but our 2 year-old also plays with it quite a lot. Worth every penny. One recommendation, build a foundation of patio stone or put on a hard surface. The interior of the playhouse has no floor, so grass will quickly turn to dirt (which turns to mud when wet) inside the house.
Is there a floor in this play house?
              A shopper on Mar 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, there is not a floor with the house. We just laid an outdoor rug under it so it is soft and easy to vacuum.
how tall is the door opening?
              A shopper on Mar 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The door opening is 46" tall and 18" wide. I am about 5'6 and I can easily bend though the door way and just have to bend down a little once inside. It is pretty tall for room space for a parent My 4 year old son is 42 inches tall and we both for inside
I noticed that our playhouse has developed a large in the roof. Anyone have any suggestions as to what product i can use to mend this crack, i.e. bathroom caulk, silicone caulk, some kind of patch, or what?

              TIA
              Big M on Mar 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Wish I could help, but our playhouse has held up very well. I would imagine what method to use would depend on the size of the crack and where it is located. You might take a picture to your local hardware store for suggestions.
              Good luck!
