We bought this for Christmas for our then 26 month old twin daughters. They were small for their age, but quickly enjoyed playing with EVER option the house has to offer. We keep ours in the house, since we have the room. Eight months later, the girls STILL play in it everyday, and its a great "catch all" for their other toys. Also, they can mess up THAT house, instead of mine (meaning toys spread around the floor/house/etc). I plan on keeping the playhouse INSIDE for years to come. I am currently pregnant with my second set of twins and feel these little buggers will enjoy it just as much as the girls.
My husband had no problems putting the house together and said it was pretty easy. He did slide wooden dowels into some of the wall joints to add a little extra "sturdiness" to the house.
I would totally recommend this house to anyone who has kids. I can see how keeping it SPOTLESSLY CLEAN outside would be difficult, but, hey, its outside. But I've had no problems cleaning spilled milk out of its sink, or dusting it when it needed it. All in all, its a wonderful product, sturdy and my kids LOVE it, and really, thats all that matters!
Also, as you can see from my picture, the Step 2 "sticker" has fallen off the front of the house. That is the ONLY thing "bad" that has happened to this house, and those kids really play hard in there, as you can see! (Don't worry, every night, we pick up the mess, so they can do it all again the next day!)

My 2 1/2 year old son likes the playhouse okay but it isn't one of his top toys. Because it was a Christmas present we currently have it set up inside. He mainly takes some of his toys into it and plays with them in the floor inside of it. We could have accomplished this with a cheaper house or even a tent. He's not interested in the play sink or stove since they don't really do anything. I picked this playhouse because of the larger size. It is roomy enough for a few kids inside or one kid and one adult sitting on the floor (my husband and I both are tall). There are 4 very small shelves inside and some storage space under the sink. I wish there was more though. There is not much room to store play food or cookware. Also the phone does not stay on the little hook so I won't be surprised if it gets lost quickly. There is a play clock inside over the sink. The placement of the clock makes sense to adults but my son can't reach it and wants to turn the arms. I caught him climbing up on the sink trying to reach it. It would be better if it was at a lower level so that kids could actually play with it. Even better, put it at a lower level and make it talk to help them learn numbers and how to tell time. I'm hoping that as he gets a little older he'll do more pretend play inside. Overall, I think it is a nice playhouse but not I'm not sure it is worth the high price...maybe if they added a few more features.

fantastic playhouse. my girls love it. I love the spaciousness and foreseemany years of imaginative play in it. the only negative is that I wish there were window shutters in front of the kitchen sink so that thestickers don't eventually get damaged from the rain. my girls love the little table, the cubbies, the phone, and ringing the doorbell.

We bought this for our granddaughter. She absolutely loves it. We had two adults and her inside and there was still room for her to move about. We also purchased the chair set and they fit at the table perfectly. Nice little extras are included such as the stove, sink, faucet, table, phone, door bell, shutters, shelving, cupboard. Enough to keep her occupied for hours!

Searched for the perfect playhouse and this is it! It is spacious enough for adults to come in and play with the children. I am 5'2 and can stand straight up when inside of it. I had to replace a couple of items because of normal wear and tear, but the customer service was outstanding! Thanks Step2!

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful® Welcome Home Playhouse™:

It was a little expensive, but I wanted something that my 7 year old daughter could still play with. She and her 5 year old brother play/fit in it just fine. I also run an in-home daycare and all the kids love this house! My only concern so far is that it only came with 4 pins that are for the bottom of the house to hold the four walls together, the roof screwed onto the top of the house was supposed to hold the walls together on the top, but there is a gap in one corner where there walks just aren't staying together?!? I'm hoping I can maybe put an extra screw in there and fix the problem. Other than that it's great! I love the size!

Karen N: The playhouse does not have a floor so we had one made from mani-made deck material. We left a little deck on the front and put flower boxes. Looks amazig. This is an amazing house and we worried about not having. A floor, but once we put the deck under it we were really happy.my little girl loves it! We did buy the Step2 chairs so she and her freinds can sit at the table inside. Jun 13, 2013

Dawn M asked: I have 2 & 6 year old girls. I am looking for a Playhouse that will not be too small for my older (6) Daughter. In my research this is the best option. Does anyone have any feedback or thoughts on how this works with their OLDER CHILDREN? It is a lot of money to throw away if they can not both play with it. THANK YOU ! May 28, 2013

Taryn F: We bought this last year for our then 2 year old daughter. She also has two older brothers. My children are now 3, 6 and 8 and all three of them will often play in the house together. When my boys won't play with their sister, either my husband or I can also sit in the house with her. Since it was so big, and difficult to put together, we left it up over the winter with a large tarp over it. We recently moved and now have a large storage barn where we will store the house in the winter months. I also did a GREAT deal of research before purchasing this product. We have been very happy with our purchase. Jun 1, 2013

Michelle E: I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, both girls. We love this playhouse! Both girls play inside no problem and the older cousins and neighborhood kids, including boys, play in and around it. At least 3 kids fit inside at a time and the windows open so there is always one or tow playing from the outside through the windows too. This is a great option for multiple kid families. We even had plexiglass cut to put in the topof the door, and kitchen and bay windows for the winter so it stayed dry and snow free. I expect to get many years of use out of this. May 29, 2013

Nicole H: I got this for my 2 year old and was shocked at how large it is. I'm 5'4" tall and can stand up in the center of the house. Also, my husband and I can sit in the house while our daughter makes us 'food' and walks between the sink and the table. So size wise... definitely large enough for older children playing.

As far as the entertainment value for older kids, I think it could be hit or miss. With the younger kid around I think your six year old would enjoy this for at least a few more years before outgrowing it.

Ann M: I also did research on this type of house. I have grandchildren and their friends who come over to play in it! I walk inside of it and play with them. Sometimes there are five or six including myself in the house! It is very nice and very much worth the money! I left it out for a NY winter weather season and it did very well!!! I am so happy with it as I always am with Step 2 products!!! Recommend it highly!!! Sometimes you spend that extra to get something of better quality!!!! May 29, 2013

Cherry Ann L: My kids are ages 2 and 5 years old. The older one is a boy and the youngest is a girl. They both enjoyed playing with it by pretending it is a take out place for ordering. We even sat inside and brought in our own chairs and have meal time. My older son pretended to be a cook. There's much you can do, just need to let their imagination do the trick. Ask them what they would like to do. I hope this helps. May 29, 2013

Brandy A: I also have a 6 & 2 year old daughters, they both love it and play in it almost every day. They enjoy being outdoors. There is even room for my husband and I to be in there with them. We also have the stools from step 2, and they are awesome (made very well) May 29, 2013

Amanda A: TO be honest I am not really happy with this. It is already sun faded and the stickers peeled off a long time ago and my 2 girls (2 and 4) barely play in it and it is too small for them both to be in there comfortably. May 29, 2013

Alissa F: I have a 4 yr old, but I'm 5'9 and can squeeze through the door and sit comfortably in this playhouse. I don't feel it would be too small for your older daughter AT ALL :) I hope that helps! Jun 1, 2013
