    Great product

Comments about Step2 Playmats - 20 piece set:

Bought this product after walking across the floor in a friends house. At that moment I kmew I wanted to get some for myself not for any children but for the area infront of my workbench. After having a broken knee standing on the hard concrete made it unenjoyable to work in the garage. Now with these mats in the area where i do most of my standing it is like walking onto a fluffy cloud of awsomeness, I can once again enjoy working in the garage.

Comments about Step2 Playmats - 20 piece set:

I searched high and low for a weather resistant playmat for outside to use on my decks for my grandson - altho they're made in China, they are made of EVA which is a great! My almost 11 month old grandson is getting great use out of these mats - some under and around his pool and others under and around his climber/slide. Only way to make them better would be if they were made in the USA...sometimes one has to compromise...

Really like these mats. I bought one box to place around the slide and ladder, now I want to cover my whole patio. Only thing though, I wish the cats didn't like it so much, they sharpen on the matts and will eventually tear them up.

Comments about Step2 Playmats - 20 piece set:

We wanted mats for our infant daughter to crawl & walk on. She had bumped her head on the hardwood floors, and we thought, "OK, time for some mats." I did a ton of research, and these mats are the best in every way. They are thicker than almost every other type of mat out there. They don't have silly letters & numbers in them that get lost. More than anything, they are safe. I emailed Step 2 and they told me that they are made entirely out of EVA. EVA is non-toxic and is approved for use in teethers. So my daughter won't be poisoned by them. We bought a full pack and are buying another pack of 20 mats. Everyone that comes to my house says, "Wow, these are the best mats, where did you get them?"

nichole h: Hmm. not sure what your intentions are with this mat....they are thick enough to help soften the fall of a child learning to walk...but not much more than that. We have hard wood floors, so I covered our play room with these mats for a soften place to sit and play etc....they work out very nicely for this purpose! Sep 12, 2013

A shopper asked: I was wondering how this works with furniture on it, since I plan to cover the whole playroom. Does furniture leave indentations? Will I be able to move and rearrange pieces on it? Jul 21, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Adelita G O: I have my living room floor covered with the playmats, but I placed them AROUND the sofas and armoire so that I could cover a larger space. I have a slide, activity cube, and other big toys on the mats and I can easily move them around with no problems. Walking with high heels on the mats leaves indentations, so i'm sure that heavy furniture would do the same. These mats are fabulous. I've used them for over 2 years with twins. Very durable! Easy to clean and have helped cushion lots of falls!! Jul 21, 2014
Reply to Adelita G Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Chrystal B: Yes, anything that weighs much more than a couple of lbs will leave indents in the foam. You can rearrange furniture as you like but if you aren't covering the same areas and don't want to see them, you'll have to flip the affected pieces over. Unfilortunately, that probably means you'll have to flip the entire series of mats because of the way they puzzle together. Jul 21, 2014
Reply to Chrystal Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Samantha P: Yes, furniture will leave indentations. The surface is not smooth so you would need to pick up furniture to move it. These are really nice mats. My 2 girls fall on the mats constantly and they just stand right up and go back to whatever they were doing. Jul 22, 2014
Reply to Samantha Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Harold L: It depends on how heavy is the furniture you're trying to put on it and for how long. It will surely make an indention, but if it's a light-weight item and not for long time, it will have a mark but not that deep... Jul 21, 2014
Reply to Harold Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Nicole Z: It does leave indentations, it holds together well but once you place furniture you probably will have to leave as is. We have it in 1/2 our garage, put lawn chairs on it and they cut through a bit from chair legs. Jul 21, 2014

A shopper asked: According to the description, these mats are not recommended for hardwood floors...why? Jul 23, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Christian M: Hi, I don't know the exact answer to that, but I'm guessing that you would risk some moisture buildup under the mats that could cause discoloration of the floor. I don't think this is specific to these mats but rather to covering a wood floor with rubber or plastic that doesn't let the floor breathe for an extended period of time.

            Hope that helps!

nichole h: We've used them on our hardwood for almost 2 yrs now and all seems fine...great to have them in our play room covering our hard floors! The only problem is our house was new, so our floors have gotten darker, and when we removes the mats....the play room wooden floor will take a while to get as dark as the rest of the house. Kelly I asked: I am looking for soft flooring to use as they base for our outdoor swingset. I have read reviews on these mats and have found that some people have used them outdoors and left them out all year round with no problem. I would be covering a 30' x 30' area. Do you think these will hold up? May 26, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Maxine J: I double my mats because they cover a driveway and they are under two Step 2 climbing structures. I probably have over a hundred of them (some were used). The plain ones are slippery when wet. I do not have the newer ones with the holes but I would recommend those for under any place where there will be lots of water. Mine have been outside for 4-5 years. They are fine except where the neighbor cats use them for a scratching post. Some will put blue coloring on the kids clothes. Most will not. I haven't figured out why that is. It could be that the cats scratching the surface have removed some kind of protective surface.
The edges of the mats will allow dirt and rocks to slide under. I just sweep under the edges of the mats and they are good for another year. (I live under oak trees). My tallest climbing structure is 4' and I think a fall from that height would have a soft enough landing. You'll have to judge based on what material is underneath your mats and how high a fall might be from a swing set. Hope this helps. (Child care provider.)

Laura M: I purchased these mats for my grandchildren about 2 years ago. I used them by my pool deck under there outside toys. They have held up very well even with all the water by the pool. I highly recommend these. May 27, 2013

Lizette M: No they don't, but I used them for daycare on vinyl flooring and the kids did great. The early walkers had trouble at first but then as they grew, they got used to the edge and didn't trip. Apr 9, 2013

Samantha S asked: Do the Step2 playmats contain Formaldehyde, Lead, Phthalates, BPO, or anything else toxic or harmful to humans? Jul 5, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Step2Staff: These playmats are made of EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) and do not contain silicone nor flame retardants. Phthalates are plasticizers mainly used to soften and enhance the longevity and durability of plastics, typically PVC plastics. Current testing technology cannot defect zero levels of phthalates. When the level of phthalates falls below an independent test lab's ability to detect the presence of phthalates the lab issues a report stating that the phthalate levels are undetectable, or passes the CPSIA phthalate requirement. Many toy manufacturers use these reports to make the claim their products are "phthalate free". Step2 chooses to make the accurate statement that our products are compliant to the CPSIA phthalate requirements as independent, CPSIA test labs cannot and will not state a product is "phthalate free." The soft plastic materials used in our products are routinely tested and are compliant to the CPSIA phthalates standards.

To check the Confirmation of Conformance on, you can visit our website at www.step2coc.com and type in the name of the product and it will give you specifics on testing.

Step2Staff: Although no small parts come with this playmat or are provided for assembly this product it has been age graded for children 3+. Normal use and abuse testing conducted suggests through biting, torque, and tension a small part of foam could possibly detach. That is the reason for this this warning. Jul 31, 2013
