My Grandson, London (2 1/2 yrs.) just loves his workshop. He loves putting things together and then taking them apart. Grandma & Grandpa purchased the workshop for Easter...much better than giving a lot of candy. My daughter said that she loves the shelf on the bottom to store all of the pieces. It is realistic and a great learning tool. Boys just love to tinker no matter what the age. My daughter would recommend it for any child 2 and up.

Overall, we were pleased with the realistic nature of the bench & wooden pieces and the overall quality of the items. Although the "wooden" pieces have many blueprints of projects for toddlers to make, the bench itself is quite small in height for our 3 & almost 5 year-old sons. The bench doesn't have ample storage for all of the "wooden" pieces which I dislike. I would like to see a bigger bench for toddler-aged children. There isn't one out there-this is the closest we found. Finally, the drill that came with the set didn't work when we opened it Christmas day, so our sons had to wait for a replacement drill to play with their present.

Comments about Step2 Real Projects Workshop:

This was a great gift for my two-year old. He loves the tools that come with workshop, especially the drill that comes with different bits. It took him a few attempts but he was able to use the drill to screw the nails into the tabletop. He is also able to connect some of the "wood" foam pieces, but I know he will be able to do more, like build, when he is older. I think it is great for motor skill development! This is a great quality product and I am looking forward to him growing and using this more.

This model workbench included many building blocks. The child who will receive this as a gift will enjoy using them and we think that this will likely keep his interest in this toy longer than would a workbench that just has tools and a few screws to turn.
