Step2 never failed me before and once again, another great product from the trusted Made in the USA company. This bed is working out so well for us. My two years old daughter did fine in her crib, until we switched to a toddler bed when she turned about 20 months old. She hated her toddler bed and refused to get in bed to sleep. She would sleep on the floor and then we would move her to bed while she was sleeping. Since we got this bed for her 2nd birthday. She loves this bed and has no trouble sleeping in it. We used a piece of plywood as a base and placed 7 inch memory foam mattress. The height is just perfect and she hasn't fall off from her bed. The assembly was quick and easy, and she loves the bottom storage area to crawl around. I should have just gone straight to this bed from a crib, just wasted money and built up frustration for both my daughter. She's still working on getting comfortable with coming down on the steps but she's getting better everyday. I'm glad I bought this bed and I'm sure this bed is going to last for a very long time. Great job Step2!
wow - this bed is fantastic! I researched a bed for our little girl for several MONTHS. Even at 3 years old, she felt safe in her crib and refused to come out. As her birthday approached we began talking about her "big girl bed." I wanted something that would still give her the security that her crib did, but allow her the freedom to get in and out as she was being potty trained. I read the reviews on here and they were right on, which is why I wanted to include my own. Everyone who said to only buy the top mattress and use a bunky board beneath it - thank you! That is exactly what works perfectly. I was concerned about her rolling out but that was never an issue thanks to the high sides. My one and only complaint is that it can be difficult to change sheets...but everything else is wonderful so I it is still worth the extra effort. And although I was worried that with her freedom would come the nightime battles to get her to stay in bed....well, that never happened. I was shocked. We let her help put it together and she slept in it the first night without a fight and never came out since. I have told all of my friends about this bed and a few moms have made the purchase as well. Money well spent and I'd buy another one when we have our next child.

My husband and I splurged on this when my son transitioned into a big boy bed and it was worth it! Our son loves his bed! He plays on his bed during the day and loves to sleep in it at night. We only put one mattress in so the sides were very high and that made me happy. Our son has never asked to sleep in our bed :)
i bought this for my 19 months old daughter and she loved it so much. i was leary about moving her from her crib into the big girl bed but she climbed right in and never looked back at the crib. it is so much easier for me to get her out of bed in the morning since i have a bad back. she plays underneath the bed too. we got a press on light for underneath and she loves to crawl in and turn on her light. the surface is a little bit rough with the raised lines for the "wood grain" but my daughter doesn't seem to mind. great bed and would buy a 100 times over!
My children love the storage area under the bed. They use it as a clubhouse.
I can't tell you how wonderful this bed has been for my autistic grandson. He rarely slept through the night until we bought this bed. He absolutely loves it and it must make him feel secure at night because he's been sleeping through the night since we put it up in his room. It's been a life-saver for my daughter - and my 3 year old autistic grandson just loves it!!!!
We love this bed except everytime my son bumps the edges, it resonates with a loud THUD/THUMPING sound. Our bedroom is very close and it keeps me awake EVERY night. Other than this, it's great! Wonderful storage and play area under bed--we installed red rope lighting under the bed's perimeter on the "ceiling" of the underneath storage and put a switch on it (like a Christmas tree switch). Our son loves to turn on the light and sleep and play under the bed. I would highly recommend a bunkie board--we got one at a furniture store for about $40--looks like a "folding church table" with out the legs. Don't buy a pillowtop mattress because it comes to high over the siderails--get a standard depth twin mattress for rails to be effective. Sheets and covers are hard to change and tuck in. Bed is very sturdy, very fun and big. Even though it's big, there's great storage underneath, so it helps with the toy clutter.
when we decided to set up a nursery for our grandchildren i wanted to make sure we covered a good time frame, my granddaughter is 18 months old and her brother is 6 months i couldnt see putting her in a baby bed for such a short time but was reluctant to move to a bed even a toddler bed which she could get in and out of easily or fall from as she is an extreme roly poly when sleeping, this bed was PERFECT, she does not even realize she can climb in and out of it yet (i am careful that older kids who are visiting know this and dont teach her) the sides are perfect for safety and she loves to "camp out" under it when she plays. it is also a great storage area. this is a twin size bed so not only will she be in it till i change but it will be passed on to her brother when he is ready and is a neutral color for just this purpose (in fact it is probably MORE a boys bed).i also slept in it with her on a couple of occasions when she was being "paci" trained, weight limit is 250lbs, my 10 year old nephew loves it so it will be used for years to come and passed on to others when i am done.
maybe useful in convincing your child to sleep in his own bed!!!
