My one year old likes holding the cupcakes assesmbled by her older siblings, who have pretended to set up their own bakery and menu for ordering the different cupcake flavors. We love the display table and cupcakes, but don't really use the icing bag.

Besides being a colorful imaginative play toy, the various attributes of the cupcakes offer lots of thinking skill practice; matching colors, following 1,2,3,and 4-step directions, creative combination of parts, following a sequence to build cupcaks, and lots of vocabulary development. I have five foster children ages 2-6 and they all love this toy. The cup cakes are colorful and really attractive to the kids. It's fun to redesign the cupcakes by putting them together in different combinations. They are a realistic size too. I wasn't sure what the kids would do with the pastry bag, but they knew exactly how to use it and we are currently having a lot of birthday parties!
I orginally purchased this as a Christmas present but once I opened the box, I gave them to the kids right away...they are that cute! My only criticism is that the pastry bag has interchangeable tips--one fixed tip would have been better. I just keep finding the extras on the floor.
Overall, I highly recommend this product! It's great fun.
