We are so pleased with this product. It is perfect for our 2 year old and his playmates. We bought a toddler swing to go along with this. The playset is very durable. After doing some research for similar products, we decided that this product was clearly the best value for what appeared to be a large, sturdy playset. We purchased it for our twin boys' second birthday for a backyard playground. After assembling it and watching the boys immediately fall in love with it, we were not disappointed. We are confident that we made the right choice.

Despite some of the negative comments from others regarding assembly, we found the directions clear and straightforward. Maybe they have been revised since some of the comments have been written. It took me 2 1/2 hours to assemble with the help of our 2-year old boys. They had fun helping Daddy tighten the bolts and the only help that I needed from my wife was in lifting the roof onto the castle. As others have noted, the washers used underneath the platform floor are inadequate and pull through the plastic. This was easily resolved by purchasing four 5/16 fender washers at the hardware store and installing them on top of the "medium washers" supplied with the set. It's too bad that Step 2 overlooks this problem in an otherwise well-designed product. Other than the washer problem, assembly was easy and I had no problems lining up bolt holes, as some have mentioned.

As others have noted, the ropes on the swings are too short and leave the seats about three feet off the ground - way too high for a young child to swing on. While I am sure that this is driven by product-liability lawyers, it is unfortunate in a product designed for children. The easy solution was to purchase four short pieces of chain and four buckles and install them above the swing ropes which lowers the seats to a height that children can use.

Some have mentioned that the ceilings were too low for children to play. This is not our experience at all. The boys have plenty of headroom and my wife and I (I'm 6' 2") can sit upright on the ground under the platform. There should be plenty of room for the boys for years to come.

One suggestion that would improve the design would be to make the plastic ladder easier to climb. The rungs are thick and close together and nearly vertical which makes climbing them difficult. Additionally, there are no handholds once you reach the top so the child has to wiggle on his belly to get over the top. All this is great exercise and fun for the child but requires "adult supervision" at the back of the playset. Of course, it's not a real hardship to have to spend time playing with the boys on their great new toy. They absolutely love it and so do we.

This is a great set - my 18 month old daughter and her friends love it, even though they are a bit on the young side. I did buy the toddler swings for them until they are older, but they also love playing in the lower house and going down the slide. I had seen complaints that the ladder was steep, but I think it's good that very young children cannot climb up without help and close supervision. Our only real complaints are about the assembly... some of the holes did not line up well and took quite a bit of time and shimmying to get the bolts through and there are other parts where the instructions are not really clear and took some guesswork.

We just received this last weekend & have assembled the fort only so far as some of the required bolts were missing. It looks great, however the platform seems very flimsy, not sure how long it will hold up, we have a 4 yr old & 2 yr old boys and 2 of the bolts that hold the platform floor have already pulled through the bottom, from reading other reviews, we will try adding some bigger washers to see if that will solve the problem. Would def recommend for smaller children, wished we had purchased it a yr ago. Step 2 has been great and the next dayed us the missing bolts and have offered to replace the platform, however to do so would require dissassembling most of the fort which would not be quick.... So the verdict is still out on this one.

I have five toddlers ranging from 18 months to 32 months. They love it. The smaller ones have a hard time with the ladder. We bought two infant swings to top it off. Window openings could be smaller, I fear they could fall out when leaning to look through them. Very compact for a small yard space! Overall it creates hours of enjoyment!

When put together, this is a really attractive looking product and my two 3-year old twins are already in love with it. The only negatives I see are that the swings aren't long enough and hang several feet off of the ground. Was able to fix this easily by getting some links of chain and carabiners from the hardware store to extend them. Also, the instructions seemed to be missing or unclear on a step or two and some of the metal posts were tapped wrong for screwing into. But the two of us were still able to put this together in 4-6 hours. I'm really pleased with it.

I have a 2-1/2 year old son who is still too small to maneuver the bigger wooden playsets by himself. I wanted something that he could climb around on without me having to follow him around. He loves the lower play area and can climb the ladder and go down the slide without my assistance. I thought I was going to need to purchase a toddler swing but he does just fine on the ones provided (I do have to help him on the swings of course). The only thing I don't like is that the set has a weight limit of 75 lbs on the swings and rope ladder which means the older kids in the neighborhood can't play on the set. And we had a lot of trouble with the assembly. Some of the bolts were not the appropriate sizes and we often had trouble getting all the pieces to line up. It took 2 of us about 12 hours total to assemble.

My daughter absolutley loves this outdoor playset and it is sturdy! The instruction booklet could either use better pictures or instructions. We had to go back and undo parts because it wasn't clear as to which way it was supoosed to go. Otherwise once you get it set-up, the rest is easy.

We purchased this swing set for our daughter's 2nd birthday. With help of about four friends, my husband was able to put this swing set and Skyward Summit rock climber in less than three hours. My daughter wanted to help and couldn't wait for the swing set to be put together. She's been wanting to play with it everyday and she loves it. It's a perfect size for our two years old daughter(although she looks like she's three years old), and I can't wait for her birthday party this weekend for lot of kids to enjoy both play sets.

Our younger boys are 7, 4 & 2. They LOVE this swingset and spend hours playing with it. Very sturdy, lots of variety. We added a bucket swing for the little one, but there's still plenty of room for the big kids. We get LOTS of compliments on this set. Highly recommended. We've only had the set for a little over two weeks. Cons: 1. Our 22 month old daughter has managed to pull the washers through the upper floor due to her bouncing inside the fort. Whereas, the two sets of bolts and washers that hold the floor of the fort to the side walls pulled through the bottom of the floor which allowed the side walls to pull away from the floor. We corrected this by adding 3/4" washers to the provided washers as well so there is no way they should pull through anymore ( We hope ). 2. Our daughter has managed to fall off the slide due to its configuration. We wish we had an option of a straight line slide instead of the bump slide. The problem being with the bump slide is if our daughter goes down the slide and doesn't pick up her feet, her feet get hung up on the bumps and she falls forward. 3. It also took our daughter some time to master the stairs leading up to the upper fort due to the stairs being, for the most part, straight up and down. We had to stand behind her for the first week as she ascended the stairs until she got the hang of them. An additional set of grab handles in the front of the stairs may help this problem. Pros:1. Looks good2. Relatively easy to assemble (one person)3. Very sturdy with the anchors in place4. Should be low maintainence5. Action packed - numerous activities throughoutOverall, the assembly of the set was not too difficult, but it was time consuming. We're sure our daughter will grow into the set very soon with years of enjoyment to follow. We realize that our daughter may have been a little too young for the set, but she's growing up fast and we wanted to be prepared. Regardless of the few cons we've mentioned, we are happy with the set to date and our daughter just loves it. "I play, I swing, I play, I swing". We've replaced both swings for now with a baby swing and a set of rings. [...]

We have a three year old that loves this. and my 9 month old is enjoying a baby swing that I have put on it as well. We recently had a birthday party here for 4 year olds and everyone loved it. My golden retrievers love to hide under it and then jump through the windows to retreive balls. This swing set is MORE expensive than most on this site but well worth the investment. And, it took my husband only 5 hours to assemble it. Love it!!

We have a 2 year old and a one year old who LOVE it! They can climb and get on the swings themselves! The slide would be better (in their opinion) if it was a little longer and not wavy. They love the club houses on top and underneath and they have great fun trying to shoot baskets in the basketball hoop! Their 11 year old brother likes this feature too and wishes he could play on the rest. Their cousins ages 5-9 also love it! Great product that has great resale value and lasting value over time. Looks very classy and nice! We LOVE it!

It took my husband about three and half hours to put the play set together. My kids, 16 months and 5 years both enjoy it, Actually, the older likes the swing set more than her younger brother. However, they play most on this set when they are home. This play set is kind of pricey but worthy to buy.

The Play Lodge is a great addition to our backyard providing hours of fun for our young toddler. The construction is sturdy and quite safe. Our little boy does his best to test the sturdiness and it passess. It does take longer to put together than the directions indicate, so plan at least 1/2 a sunny day to do it and have a friend to help you.

We really like this playset and our son loves it! He hasn't got to use it much yet due to the rainy weather but I'm sure it will get plenty of use over the summer. We have had this set in our yard for 2 months now and our 2 1/2 year old daughter loves it. We can't go out into the yard without her saying "let's go in the fort." My husband put it together by himself. He is not a professional, but is very handy and skilled at using tools. He said it was fairly easy to assemble and the directions were easy to follow but the whole process did average 6 to 7 hours. but he was humming along without any stressful moments. In the 2 months that the product has been outdoors it has stood up well. No fading and it is super easy to clean if you need to, just hose down. We bought the toddler swing for our 2 1/2 yr old as she is not old enough to know how to hold on to the regular swings. She has been having a great time on the slide. It looks a little steep at first, but not at all, she loves to slide down it. The fort is adorable, both on top and underneath. We even put little kiddie table and chairs underneath and she loves to sit under there with her dolls. The only slight complaint would be the stairs that go up to the fort. They are a bit steep and could have "jutted" out a bit more, but even at 2 1/2, she is figuring out how to pull herself up rather quickly.

We purchased this set from the STEP 2 website for our daughters birthday...We read the comments before deciding and found more pros than cons to this playset.Boy are we happy that we did purchase this set. We got this for my daughters 2nd birthday. I did lots of research and still wasn't completely sold on our decision of this one until it came and I saw the smile on her face. I would love for the weight limit to be a bit higher. I swing with her and feel confident we won't fall, but when my husband sits on it it does flex. This is the perfect play structure for our girls. It is safe and not having to worry about slivers is an extra bonus.

We bought this swing set for my daughters 2nd birthday. My husband and I waited several months to write this review, just to see how we would like it with time. My daughter loves it. It seems like it is going to really last. A friend of my had her 2 1/2 year old over to play and decided to buy one for him also. Cons - it does take a little work to get everything in the right place; however, my husband was able to do most of it on his own with a little assistance from me. It took him about 4/5 hours to complete. Also, it really is a swing for toddlers and preschoolers. I don't foresee my daughter using it when she is six or seven...but I could be wrong. We got this this past Friday and I was able to get most of it done in 3.5 hours...I only needed help from my wife in holding the roof in place while I attached it. Other than that it was done by myself. I finished the next morning in about an hour or so. No major hangups. You have to take your time and look at what they are showing you though at some points and make sure you are using the rigth washers & bolt combos. All-in-all a huge hit so far with our 4 year old and the neighbors kids. Only time will tell how well it is made

This playset is very nice and sturdy. Good for younger children. It's a good size for my 2 year old since she can climb up and down w/o much supervision. My 5 year old gets bored w/it quickly. It gets better use when their friends come over to play. The lower level is very small and doesn't see much action. The swings are good but unfortunately can't handle bigger kids or adults. My husband was able to put this together fairly easily compared to what other reviews stated. He did it by himself w/in 3-4 hrs. We were missing a key piece but Step2 sent out a new one fairly quickly.

This set is perfect for the backyard. It gives our girls (18 months and 3) plenty to do. The lower clubhouse is perfect for the 18-month old and can sit the two girls in toddler chairs easily and still leave play room. The upper clubhouse is easily accessible for our 3-year-old, who found bigger equipment at the park intimidating.The line is great. We have other pieces from the Naturally Playful line, and they coordinate well, so the backyard doesn't look junky.This set is clearly for smaller children. I think the girls will outgrow it in about 5 years and then we'll look at a big wooden set. But, this set seems to weather better than the wood sets and doesn't need as much maintenance, so it's perfect for us. It took my husband and I about 1 1/2 hours to put the play set together.. My kids 8yrs,5yrs, and 2yrs like the swing set but it is really my girls the 5yr old and the 2 year old that play most on it.. the neighbor girls really like it too they are 7 but i notice when the older girls are bolth swinging at the same time it the set rocks alot. but it did not seem to comprimise the swing set it just make me alittle nervious. it is sturder than i thought.

I do like the set I think it was a little pricey. But we are a military family and move alot. So with the easy set up (and I think take down) we will be able to have lots of fun with it here and then easily take this with us when we have to move. So it was an investment we where willing to make. Over all. My kids like the set. it seems sturdy enough that I do not worry when there are lots of kids playing on it. It was relitavly easy to put togethor . I would recomend this play set for children about 6 years and younger..

It took my husband and I six hours and a strong marriage to put it together. Thank goodness for the video instructions available online, they really helped a few times. My sons, 20 months and 6 years both enjoy it, though it will be another year before the younger can really use it by himself. 90% of it is contructed well, the floor of the fort is a bit flimsy and overall the plastic was a littel thinner than I had envisioned. It is very secure. The rope ladder bolts are rusting already and the wood rungs have early cracks. I am on phone with Step2 right now waiting for resolution. I've seen the others out there and this is one of the best, but it needs a little more tweaking to be perfect and really worth the $$$$.

I bought this set for my 2 year old, very active son. He LOVES it! From the first minute he gets up, he wants to go out and play. I also own a private preschool, and the set has been a hit for those children as well. I love the compact design. It is very easy to have the children within arms reach, no matter where they are playing. It has enough room on it for 6+ children at one time, and enough variety to keep them busy for long periods of time. We looked into many sets, and this one had the best feedback. I am so happy with it, and would recommend it to anyone. My one complaint is that the awning for the roof is bright magenta - hoping it fades as time goes on...

The kids love there play set call it their clubhouse. I bought it because they wanted both a playhouse and a swing set. My back yard is pretty small so the size was a factor. I is perfact for small yards without taking away the fun. was easy to set up very time consuming. 2 people a must. Babysitter A MUST!!!!!

We decided to not put together the swing part since my son is still under 2 years old. Only with the house part, he is enjoying so much in and out. Also enjoying going up to the top part and doing peek-a-boo game. Once he gets older, we'll assemble other part, but it's great as is now.
Also we decided to put in our porch instead of backyard for now and he can play with it sunny or rain. We love it.

Assembly was not as difficult as anticipated- still not the easiest. My 2 year old loves it! One con I found in the first day is that the bottom club house windows are open on the side where the swings are- we had a collision incident with one looking out the window while one was swinging. Just something you will want to watch for. Other than that, this was a wonderful purchase!

I got this for my home daycare. The kids are 2-7yrs. that are playing on this. I hated putting this togeather. Assembly was frustrating. You had to take lots of time to read and find out what they were talking about. Also, holes did not line up right. After you get it assembled the kids have lots of fun. The floor could have better support. All in all it is a nice for the kids. They love it.

Was set up in 4 hours with 2 people. Looks great. has heldup through a few bad storms. we have only the one 2 year old boy, but yesterday had some cousins over 4 kids total jumping and swinging. The set held up nicely. Very happy with it so far. Been a few weeks now. It is not very big. The kid will out grow it by 7 I'm sure but I knew that by reading the other posts.

Nice looking play set that we bought for our soon-to-be three-year old daughter's upcoming birthday. It took me awhile to assemble it by myself since some of the holes didn't line up perfectly and a couple of assembly instructions weren't easy to figure out. I downloaded the instructions from the website and compared them to the ones that came in the boxes. Noticed a couple of changes, but all-in-all was pretty straight forward. I just wish the swing bar ends would have been clearly labeled so I could tell which end was which thus saving me some time and effort having to unscrew and rescrew the bolts to the supports.

my 22 month old loves it. we replaced one of the swings with a toddle seat swing which she loves. likes the lower room alot - its like her own outdoor room. she can go on the slide for half an hour straight if we lift her up onto top deck. we have a small backyard and we placed the lodge catycorner and it fits great and we can see everything from patio. took me 6 hours to put together with some help from my wife. no splinters. only negative is step ladder should be on more of an angle. its too steep for her now. prep area ahead of time. level ground or place down fabric if you don't want grass growing up

The kids LOVE this swingset! Everyone in our neighborhood has the wood sets and after a year, they look faded and worn. That's why we chose this one. It took my fiance and I about 5 hours to set up. There was one peice on the bottom house that wouldn't fit on no matter how hard we tried..it would even pop out the work we had already done. So that is sitting in our garage. Makes it easier for us to get in there and cut the grass now though ;) The only thing I would really complain about this set is the steep, steep steps to get up. My 3 year old refuses to go that way and climbs up and through a window via the rope ladder. My 21 month old can't get up at all so we have to help her. Other than that, great set!

I like this toy and so does my 18 month old. We got him a baby swing and he sits in it all day. He's mastered climbing up the steep steps and likes to ride the slide. What I don't like as a mom is, the slide is steep and with the wrong shoes on my son gets stopped on the 1st bump and sometimes flips onto his face. Also, it's dark colored so it gets very hot in the sun all day. Plus it needs another brace under the platform. When my friends kids come over to play (all under the age of 5) I can see the platform sink from the weight. I tested it by getting on it myself (that way if it broke it would be from me and not them) and it didn't collapse, but it still makes me nervous. My husband put this together and other than Step 2 forgetting a part, everything went fine. I would like to see Step 2 offer a regular slide as an option instead of having to get the wavy slide. But other than that- this toy is good. I foresee my son and I having a great couple of years with it.

I brought this product for my grandson who is at the toddlers age. My daughter and I had some minor setback with the assembly, once that part was through it became easy again. This product is recommended for ages 3 and up but it did not come with a swing bucket seat that is appropriate for that age. The swing seats are flimsy that are attach to a rope not a chain. The price was roughly $200.00 cheaper from other retailers [...]The look on my grandson face made it priceless.

My dad and a handyman put this together. It took them exactly 4 hours with no breaks. It looks good, and my 3 year old loves it. The floor of the top of the lodge could be thicker. It sags a little when my daughter stands on it. Otherwise really cute and fun for her.

I assembled this set over the weekend for my son's 2nd birthday. Overall, I am very pleased with the product and my son absolutely loves it. It has a great design that fits well in most any residential setting. It seems sturdy and I'm sure it will last him for several years. Assembly was not too bad and took me about 4 1/2 hours by myself(I took time to read the instructions before hand and separate out all the hardware.) I do have a few minor criticisms: 1) In a few spots, I had to bore holes a little larger due to poor alignment of panels. 2) You are supposed to receive a large and small spacer for the basketball goal asssembly - I received 2 small ones(Step2 is sending replacements.) 3) The ladder steps are entirely too steep as many have mentioned.

I would definitely recommend this product to others but keep an eye on the little ones going up the steps!

The product is very well made, although some of the pieces do not fit together without extra effort. At some points the long bolts do not fit easily with the nuts because the plastic does not line up properly. I had to force the plastic pieces to line up to allow for bolting together. Overall its a great product. Although one person can put it together, I recommend getting an extra pair of hands to help when you attach the swings to the lodge.

the anchors are a must for the high winds here in the North Texas area, and I would encourage all owners to make sure you get them in the ground ASAP.

My son loves his new lodge and the wife has planned the first play date for this spring break week with a few other toddlers.

Another plus is that it looks good in the backyard and give it a more "family-feel" then it had previously.

We purchased this for our son's 2nd bday. He's off the charts for height so I thought the underneath part he would have to duck in since it's only 36". To my surprise he only has to duck in the door but can stand just fine when he's in there. The ladder in the back to get to the slide deck is really steep but he got used to it after a day or so. I love the look of this swingset/climber. There are about 5-6 anchors so it is very sturdy. My only complaint is the directions. It has you do something one step then 3 steps later you have to undo it because it's part of another step. Just read through the directions and try to figure out where this happens in order to avoid it.

This is not difficult to build and the instructions are pretty good, however I would recommend that even if you're handy to have at least one other person help. It took me and a friend about 5 hours to put it together.
Overall this is a terrific piece. My kids, 5 and 2, and all of their friends love it. I only have two comments/suggestions for Step 2; to build the stairs so that they stick out a little more rather than it being a vertical climb. There's not much there for little kids to hang on to - even the "rungs" are extremely wide, so to have them be more like stairs than a ladder would be good.
Also, I did not intially buy the extended version as I thought I'd be able to buy it later. I was extremely disappointed to learn that I cannot as it is not sold serperately. So to you, the potential buyer, if you think you're going to want the version with the extension, buy it now. And to Step 2, why not offer that piece as a seperate item as well as the glider? To me, that makes no sense that you don't. Other than that, I'm very happy with my purchase.

My two boys (4 1/2 & 2) love this swing set! We live in the desert and had a wood set before. The wood one only lasted here for two months! This one was cheaper, easier to put together, and really looks like other than some fading it will last a long time in the hot, dry, sun. My husband put it together in just a few hours and only had trouble in one area, but it was an easy fix. The only thing I don't like about it is the small size of the platform. I was excited about the "playhouse" part in the bottom but it is too small to put any chairs or anything in so my boys never play down there. My two boys love the top part but if any friends come over there just isn't enough room for anyone else to play and I feel like it might collapse when there is more than two kids on it. Great for small backyards though!

Briefly, The kids love this set. However it is over priced. Be warned that it will take anyone 6 plus hours to install. I found that one side slanted inward, defective part. I called Step 2 and they did offer to send the part, but it would take me 3 hour to install mainly because I would have to take 1/2 of it apart to replace it. It just was not worth the time. They did send us a gift for the kids for my troubles. I assembled this product myself only needing help to raise the floor and the roof. The assembly instructions were horrible, the pictures confusing and I did have to redo three parts. It took me approximately 6 hours total but I did it over a few days while the kids were napping.
I still think the set is worth it , it is better looking than a wooden swingset and the appropriate size for a 2year old to play with yet entertaining enough for a 6 year old (we havent had anyone older than that over to play with it yet ) . I think we will get many years of enjoyment out of it. I havent noticed any weather damage and I have had it for 6 months. It is played with every day still. The ladder is very steep but after 6months of skill building is no longer an issue for my two year old.

It is a great set and my son loves it, however a month after I bought it the rungs to the ladder molded. My two young children (3.5 and 2) are having a wonderful time with their new swing set. The play-yard is large enough and with enough features that it keeps them occupied for hours. The climbing and swinging features are great but they spend most of their time playing in the house and on the platform.

It was easy enough to put together - it took about 8 hours over 3 days - including digging out my yard to make a level surface for to sit.

All in all its a good buy for the money and much sturdier than comparably priced wood sets we looked at.

The design and construction is great. 15 months is a bit young, they need help with the manurvering around everything, but are having a great time! They could use a hand rail on the ladder.

It took my husband, who is a contractor, about 3 hrs to asemble this. It would be a bit frustrating to anyone who has not built things before because the instructions where horrible!

I can't say enough about this product. I was a little nervous of the assembly after reading some of the reviews but I must say I didn't have a single problem. I had it up by myself in about 3 1/2 hours. My husband just had to help me when I was putting the roof on top. Other then that piece of cake. When my son saw it his whole face lit up, that makes everything worth it. He will be two in July so he has a little bit of growing into to do but other than that it is great. He loves to go in and out of the playhouse on the bottom. Its so fun to watch his excitement. I did purchase two seperate toddler swings and now it is perfect. I would recommend this to anyone. Solid choice for toddlers/young kids (~1-5). Kids will love climbing under, up to and in the "fort" but headroom is clearly meant for younger kids (my 2 1/2 year old can't walk through the lower "doorway" without bending). The upper fort does allow more room to grow (I would guess the height of a 5-year old would start pushing it). The swings would countinue to work but at that point I would look for a new set that is fully age appropriate.

I just love the way this swingset looks. I was able to put it together myself in about three and half hours. My husband just had to help me lift the roof up high enough to get it on top. I thought it was fairly easy to put together and the instructions were well written. When I got it done and showed it to my son he was overfilled with excitement. He is going to be 2 in July and this set is perfect for him. I hope he enjoys it for a few more years. I put a little table and chair in the bottom and he will just sit there forever. My mom and I put this together in an afternoon / evening. (7 hours) I am a complete novice with power tools.

My 18 month old daughter LOVES this thing. We attached a toddler swing and it is definitely serving her well. She likes the slide but it is a little fast for her. I help her down. 1000 times I wish the ladder were "stairs" (because it already has a ladder) but eventually she will be able to navigate it.

The only thing that I would change are the directions. There were a couple of times that I had to "undo" something because I thought they had left out a step. Had I read all of the reviews here I would have known that several here felt the same way and I would be a little more patient.

Also, at the VERY end they get you to screw the fort together. I don't understand why that is at the end of the entire thing.

It is very sturdy. I can swing on the swings and the fort doesn't move! My neices (9 and 7) love this thing too. I wouldn't purchase this for them, but they have fun on it with my daughter. After looking for a long time at wooden sets, we decided to go with this model so that my two year old can use it now, it doesn't require staining every couple of years, no splinters and reasonably priced. We've had it for about 4 weeks and it looks great. No signs of fading and attractive design. A little smaller than expected, especially compared to the enormous wooden sets. The kids in the neighborhood are much older 8-9 and always ask to play on it. Based on five 8-9 year olds on it at the same time, I would say that it is sturdy and definitely fun. The second floor of the hut sags a little when you sit or stand in the middle but it held me and it holds all the other kids so is not a problem. With a 9 year old girls help, we were able to get the entire hut assembled in a couple of hours. It then took me about 6 hours to complete the rest and that's only b/c I didn't lay everything out first and the only power tool I had was a drill. Not sure the name of the "wrench" power tool but if I had one, it would have taken half the time. I would give this a 4 1/2 and highly recommend it to anyone with younger kids.

We purchased this so my 2 year old daughter can have her own swingset in our back yard. We have a very small backyard (28x23'), so this one is great. It does barely fit and she has a great time on the swings and slide. She loves the two levels of "clubhouse". This arrived on a Wednesday morning and in the span of about 6 hours, I had the entire thing put together all by myself. This includes take a few pieces apart a few times because I didn't follow the directions perfectly. The directions are incredibly precise and very easy to follow. I read some others saying they had a hard time putting it together and that couldn't be further from the case for me. As indicated above, I'm an idiot when it comes to putting things together, but this was extremely easy. The majority of pieces go together with a socket wrench and the allen wrench supplied.

If the manufacturer were reading this, the only improvement I would suggest would be to put the part letters on the parts. It is sometimes hard to figure out exactly which part they are referring to in the instructions when the part is 4 feet long but 2 inches in the book. And simply indicating a "left" or "right" side on some of the parts would be helpful with the instructions instead of the more lengthy explanations on which end to attach things.

Other than that, it's a great set and I would recommend it to friends.

Our 2 yr old son loves it. The only think I see that could be better for the kids would be to have a handle at the top of the steps and the steps not so steep. Maybe a rockwall instead of the rope ladder so the smaller kids can get use out of the entire set.

Overall, it's a great product. My husband had a little bit of trouble getting some of the bolts, holes, etc to match up but plastic will give a little so it was no problem. He put it together by himself in 6 hours and he is not a handyman. That, plus the price and the fact that it is weather resistant made this a very attractive option versus the big expensive wooden ones. Our 3 yr. old has played on it everyday for the past week and a half. She especially loves the 2 level clubhouse. We bought a plastic adirondack table and chair set that matches this play center and she has enjoyed several picnics with it inside her clubhouse. I did add a block of wood underneath the end of the slide to keep her from bumping her bottom. With the current angle, she would go so fast over the hump in the middle that she would hit the bottom of the slide with a big smack. The only thing left in doubt is how well this play set will hold up under the heat of the sun in our humid beach weather. I hope our little girl will be able to use it until she's at least 8.

We love it! Bought it for our 2 1/2 year old. Could not be happier. If you follow the directions it takes 3 hours to put together. But you do need two people to do it. We are outside by 8:30am every morning playing on it!!!

My husband and I purchased this product for my son's third birthday. We loved the fact that it was totally made from plastic and our son would not get splinters. While playing on a friend's play center our little guy got 3 splinters in one finger and another finger was ripped open on a piece of wood. He was crying, but so I because now I had to get the splinters out of his little hand! Yuk! He came running home to play on our "playground" and he said, "Look Mommy, no splinters!"
My husband and I put the product together in an afternoon. My only suggestion is that you totally follow the directions. We thought that Step 2 forgot a step and we did what we thought was right . . . WRONG . . . On the last page or so of instructions there was the step that we thought was missing. oops! It was easy to correct, but if we would have just followed directions, we would have been much better off.
I am looking forward to spending the summer playing on the "playground".

I put this up in 5 hours alone. It wasn't hard and they give you all you need. I did find that a rubber mallet and electric screwdriver came in handy.My nearly 3 year old helped unpack it, then hopped right up on the second floor of the lodge as soon as it was up! This is the ultimate swing/playset. He loves everything about it!!!

We found the playset easier than expected to assemble. Given past reviews, I told my husband to just do what he could and we'd have someone help him finish that next day. He had the tower finished in an hour and my 23 mo was already playing on it while my husband started the swing attachment. In all, he did 95% of the assembly by himself in just under 3 hours. Either Step2 has gotten better with the assembly instructions or I should give my husband more handyman credit than I do.

I think it is sturdy and attractive and should last at least until my son is too big for a swing set. He really enjoys every aspect of this play center. It took Daddy and Paw Paw just 2 hours to put it together. It is a definite plus to have a helper when assembling the play center. It is very easy to clean, just spray with a garden hose. I am very pleased with my purchase and believe my son will get plenty of enjoyment out of it.

Overall we are pretty pleased with this playset. It was easy to assemble, directions were clear, and we were only missing one piece of hardware. My 3 year old loves it. We did have to install our own handles on the ladder in back - it's a bit too steep for a young child, and I wish the slide were straight rather than wavy, the last bump hits his bottom pretty hard. But again, we are pleased overall.

It was a little difficult to put together for my husband and I. Some holes on the one side weren't drilled, but he took care of that himself. It is a wonderful playset for children of all ages. I babysit 4 little girls and have a soon to be 3 year old, and they all love it. My 3 chihuahuas even love to go in the house.

My 1 1/2 year old twins love to play on this so much, it is hard to get them to go inside. My only concern is that there are no safety guards for the second level by the steps or the slide, so they could easily fall out if you are not watching them every second. I would recommend an accessory for younger children.

Our son is 18 months and loves this play set, my husbanf and father-in-law assembled it is a few hours, and seemed like it went together well. (A few, mishaps, but nothing major.) I am a 40 year old single mom and started putting this together by myself about 3:30P on Friday. By about 6P when my parents and younger brother arrived to help, I was about half way done and that was in between me picking my daughter up from daycare. My parents and brother helped me get about 3/4 of the way done and to do the steps that took more than one person. I had it completed by late Saturday morning. The instructions are pretty easy to follow and I really found it easy to put together. It is very sturdy, well made, blends well with the landscape and held up well during a recent severe thunderstorm with hail. AND.... BEST OF ALL.... my 2 year old daughter loves it and is having a blast! I honestly can't see any negatives thus far.

We got this for my two year old and it is not only usable right now but she can grow into other features too. It was easy to put together and the instructions were easy to understand too, you just have to do everything exactly as they describe in that order. My husband helped me a little bit but had a harder time understanding the directions, go figure. The roof canopy did not fit as per other's comments and one of the swing/ladder hooks was too mangled to work but they are sending us replacement parts for free. My 7 year old nephew even loves it, despite the slide being a bit narrow for him.

The Good Stuff: This is a nice swing set that my 2 1/2 year old son really enjoys. It's attractive, sturdy, and easy to clean.

The Bad Stuff: The ladder and slide are way too steep for the age-group the set is intended for. My son did learn to climb the ladder very quickly but I stand behind him each time he goes on the ladder to be safe. It needs a more gentle incline. The slide's bumps are pretty aggressive for a little kids slide. If my son goes down too fast, he is almost launched off the slide and has tumbled off at least once because of the bump in the middle. I would redesign the slide to be a straight slide and take out the bumps.

We bought this for our 1.5 year old. He loves it! We have a toddler swing he uses, and he LOVES the upper and lower clubhouses. It took us 5 hours to put together, which we did not think was bad, considering the size. Our son will use this for many years to come!

My little girl just loves her new swing set. She is only 17 months old so we bought a toddler swing to put in place of one of the kid swings and it works great. We are going to wait to put up the rope ladder until she is a little older, but she has no problem going up the climbing wall to get to the top level. Her favorite part is playing around on the top deck. I can see how bigger kids would have to bend down to get into the lower level although currently my girl is the perfect size to walk through the door with no problem. We even put a chair in the lower level for her to sit in when she wants to rest.

As for the assembly it took longer than I anticipated. I helped the delivery guy get the two large boxes off the truck and then we dragged them up the driveway about 11:30 and the swing was completed about 5:30 or 6:00 that day with a couple of breaks and lunch thrown in. Might have been faster if I could have found all of my tools, but it wasn't that bad considering the size. The big pieces go together real fast and then things slow down a bit as you get to the smaller pieces and you have to tighten all of the bolts.

I did have a hard time locating the Roof End Cap Bolt Covers, but that is because they were already in the Roof End Caps. It took an extra 10 minutes to figure that one out.
Also, it looked like they left out a step here or there, but these steps were just moved further back in the directions for reasons that will become clear when you get to these later steps. I love this product so far and I would recommend it to anyone with small children.

My husband and I bought this for our 2 y/o and 4 month old daughters. I also purchased the toddler swing. I researched swingsets--wood ones and ones like this trying to find what would be best for them now and growing up. Having purchased this one and using it for a little over a month now--I don't think this was the one for the next 5 years. It will do for maybe another 2 years for my oldest daughter. The clubhouse is low and she is already hitting her head on the beam on the lower level--she's 36 inches tall. She can stand on either side of it, but forgets it's right there in the middle. She might have an inch to go before she is too tall for it. I don't know where they came up with 2-8y/o swing set. There is nothing about this swing set that an 8 year old would like, except the swing! The stairs up to the second level are too steep for her to climb without lots of help, ie me picking her up and putting her up there. The slide is too short to be a wavy slide--a very bumpy short slide. But she does love to slide her baby dolls.

Now for the instructions that are included. They are absolutely terrible. My husband is an engineer and the whole time he was putting this together he was cursing the technical writer. He is very meticulous at planning things and putting things together. He pulled out all the parts and laid them out like he wanted them. He separated all the "nuts and bolts". One thing he didn't do was read through the instructions before starting. He just followed the directions step by step. Here are the two that REALLY frustrated him. Step 67 says to "bolt together with assigned bolts in 3 places" but it only points to two places to bolt. However there is a third hole in the area of the two places it points out. So my husband put bolts in three places like the directions read. It should read two like the picture shows. He had to go back and remove the bolt he added, which was a pain to do. Now the one that REALLY got him--step 107 instructs you to secure the rope ladder with the ground anchors, step 108 instucts you to secure the adventure lodge and a-frame with the ground anchors. Once you have secured with the ground anchors it's not going anywhere. The last sentence under step 109c states "BEFORE MOVING THE ADVENTURE LODGE TO A DESIRED LOCATION, FIRST SECURE THE TOWER BASE.....". That sentence should be before step 107 because once you have put in the ground anchors it was absolute H@# putting the screws in to secure the tower base. Of course we had the swing set where we wanted it but didn't have the tower base screws in. So my advice is READ the instructions through first. There are a few other steps that are a little messed up--those are just the two most frustrating ones.

Overall, my 2 year old loves it, so I can't complain. Would I buy it again, probably not knowing that the play lodge is so low and she will be too tall for it soon.

My 3 year old absolutely loves this play center! The rope ladder and 2nd story fort is his favorite. He never goes in the bottom part of the fort, but it doesn't really matter. We looked at getting a wood playcenter, but are so glad we purchased this one instead. It was fairly simple to assemble with 1 or 2 helpers. I just know that our children will love it for years to come!

This is a great swingset. It was easy to assemble and looks great in our backyard. We purchased it for our daughter who is 15 months old. We wanted a product that she could enjoy now and as she grows. She is already able to use some of the features like the swings, the lower playhouse and the slide with assistance and there are plenty of features for her to enjoy in the future. I love that I don't have to worry about her being injured from falling due to the height or maintenace like I would with a wooden swingset. This is a wonderful product for small children.

We couldn't be happier with this play center. We bought it for our Twin's 2nd Birthday and they use it everyday. As soon as they wake up the are asking to go outside. The price was reasonable [...]. The assembly was easy, it had all the parts and it took less then 3 hours with just 2 people. The design is fantastic and provides enough space for 3 kids to play at the same time both on the top and bottom. It also provides lots of shade. The best part of this play center is there are 2 swings and my twins don't have to fight over who gets to swing first. They have even claimed which swing is theirs. Great product!!!

We purchased this for our 2 year old. The wooden sets we looked at were too cheaply made & the metal ones rust. This gives our son something to climb on, slide down, play in, swing on, etc. He loves it. We barely got the slide connected and he was climbing up it and sliding down it. I did purchase an infant/toddler swing to replace one of the regular swings as our 2 year old is not ready for the freedom they allow. Although I know he will probably out grow this around 7 years old, I think it was worth the investment. The instructions were better than previously described, but since it is so big, it did take a long time to assemble (I believe 3-4 hours total). [...] The main thing I would change...the floor in the clubhouse bends a little more than I would like. I'd like to see it reinforced a little better. I know it is fine, but when a 30 pound toddler starts jumping up and down, it makes you a little nervous! Also, the ladder on the back is VERY steep, but my son mastered that pretty quick. I'm excited to see all the fun he will have on it this summer as it has rained most days since we got it put together. Also, our yard is not exactly the flatest yard around and this swing set works great, unlike others that strongly recommend a flat surface.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

It took by husband about 3 hours to get it all together. The directions were good and he had a helper. It looks great in the yard. My only complaint would be the stairs up to the slide. I read 40+ reviews before buying and was worried about two things the sturdiness of the floor and the directions/hardware, both were put to rest right away! The floor is plenty strong I weigh over 200 and stood on it with my 2 1/2 yr old daughter no problems! Also they must have upgraded the directions because everything is printed and real pics added not hand drawn, if you have the slightest do it yourself knowledge you can assemble this! I was told shipping (which was free! BONUS!) would take 2 to 2 1/2 weeks and it came in 6 days! WOW! If I had to nit pick this at all They could line the holes up a little better but nothing a little muscular persuasion didn't take care of. Great Product good directions [...]this is a no brainer buy this with that warm fuzzy feeling, oh yeah my daughter abolutley loves it! (maybe as much as I do!=)

My 2 girls, ages 5 & 2, got this for Christmas and they love it! I read a lot of the comments and most people complained that it was difficult and/or time consuming to assemble. A friend of ours (a contractor) put it together for us the day before Christmas and it took two of them about 3 hours. The middle platform does give a little but overall it appears to be very sturdy. My 2 year old loves to look out the windows and play peek-a-boo and slide down the slide. My 5 year old is tall and has to crawl around the top part but she still has a great time with her little sister. I would definately recommend this to anyone.

I have two 3 year old boys that just love it. It was pretty easy to assemble. There were just a few steps that could have had more detailed descriptions. The rope ladder was a little difficult to assemble. I think it will fit the boys for quite a while. I can crawl in the top and bottom of the fort and sit comfortably. The plastic is the best part we live in the desert and the sun is brutal on wood. We are very pleased.

This playset is tons of fun! We just purchased it for our 15 month old....of course, he needs to grow into a lot of it, but he loves the playhouse! We added a toddler swing instead of one of the ones that comes with it. The only negative thing would be how steep the ladder is that leads to the top of the playhouse in the back. You have to really spot him so he doesn't lose step and fall back.

We bought this for our 2yr old son's bday. He loved playing in the lodge before we even had the swingset completely together. It did take my father-in-law (he's a carpenter by trade) quite a while to assemble. Note: there are black end caps that need to go on the support bars that should be put on earlier in the process or it's difficult to access. The slide is perfect for his younger 1 1/2 yr old friends. Climbing up the stairs is a little more challenging for the shorter ones because it is pretty steep. The basketball hoop is pretty useless for this age since it is at the 5-6 foot height. We live in Phoenix and it did get a little warm even in the high 70 degrees so I think the hose will be on it for the summer time. The underneath 'house' is great fun and overall Jacob really looks forward to playing with it everyday. We made fake mail for the mail slot and he likes to send his cars flying off the slide.

My kids are really into the swingset and the fort with the 2 levels; It is great. It fits nicely in our limited space in the backyard.
We have a slight incline so we had to use bricks to make the playset stable/level in order for it not to move and remain safe to play on.

I shopped for a long time and bought this because it's ideal for older and younger kids. It's a great alternative to the upkeep of a wood set and the cost of metal. However, it took my husband and me two college educations and a week to assemble; instructions were less than ideal and we're still missing a bolt. I wish the ladder pole was wider because I use it for a baby swing. Despite this, it's been my saving grace this summer and I would buy it again!!! It was well worth the assembly time and is much sturdier than I expected (level ground is essential).

Hi just bought this for my 2yr old son birthday. Was what I thought after I have read the reviews. The tower floor is a bit flimsy, terrible instructions, nothing lable guessing game. It took Pappa and Grampy about 4 hrs to put together. But he has been playing on it ever since and the other friends too. LOVE it. swings are great. Though do not get for older kids though they can have just as much fun underneath the tower too. would tell all about it for younger kids. F

We've bought lots of Step2 products in the past that were fantastic, but this one is a loser. As if the difficult assembly with horrible instructions (complete with typos) wasn't bad enough, I can't believe how flimsy this thing is. The playhouse floor sags with only 1 child on it (40 lbs), the slide buckles if someone tries to climb up it, and when anyone swings the top part of the playhouse moves, despite it being tightly assembled. My kids love it, but I expected much more for what we spent on it - very disappointed. We had another Step2 climber/swingset before this for years, and it was really durable with strong components. Everything in this one seems cheap.

This is a great set for children from ages 1 and 1/2 to 5 years of age. It took me about 4 hours to put this together by myself, but you need to use common sense seeing that the directions are horrible! I wish the floor of the top fort was a little more sturdy. It claims to hold up to 300 pounds, but it slopes heavily with much less weight on it. Overall, it is a great set for the $$$.

This is a great product. The instructions were very easy to follow. Once it was all put together, it was very sturdy. It took me, working alone, 3 hours to build. If your not good at putting things together, you will need help. Dont even try it. My two kids love it as I do. I wish they made this kind of play set when I was young.

I have two major complaints about this product. The ladder that leads up to the slide is too steep. I should be angled properly. My daughter is 27 months old and I have to stand behind her everytime she goes up the ladder. My second complaint is that the plastic gets way too hot. My backyard gets full sun most of the day and if she would like to go on the slide I have to water it down for a couple of minutes to cool it off - but 10 minutes later it's extremely hot again. And if she would like to go on the swing, I have to put a towel over it befor she can sit in it. It's gotten to the point where she doesn't really play with it much. I was expecting more for my money.

While this swingset is still new to our backyard, so far it is holding up fantastic. We are waiting for a nice spongy surface to put underneath it - so for now my son is using it on a grassy area and he just loves going into the fort. He's only 17 months so I am ecstatic that he is using some of the other features - I bought it for the slide and the material and the overall look.

My son who is almost 2 loves his Step 2 swingset! He loves to look out the windows and play peek a boo. I researched many sets before deciding on this one and I'm so glad I did. My husband and his friend had a little trouble assembling it. In a few of the pictures it was hard to figure out where the bolts were suppose to go. Once they got it together, my son couldn't wait to try it out!

These are possibly the worst, most ambiguous directions I have ever seen. My profession is service parts catalogs for the automotive industry, and the pictures/directions for the Step2 are very little help. No parts are labeled and the written directions inconsistent. There are two sized washers for example. In one direction it says "use medium washer". In the next direction it says, "use washer". The assembly pictures are not much help either. In addition to the directions, parts were missing and many of the clubhouse pieces were severly scratched. For the money I am not real impressed with the product. Lets see how long this post stays up.

My son was flabbergasted when he first saw his new set. He went from the slide to the under part, to the swings, and couldn't decide what he wanted to do first. It could have had clearer assembly directions - some steps you couldn't figure out exactly where to put the bolt by the photos - but overall the finished product is worth it.

We are very pleased with our purchase. Our 2 year old son loves it and plays with it every time he's in the yard. We opted not to attempt to assemble it, and hired a handyman. It took him about 3 1/2 hours to put together. We live near the ocean so we wanted a material that would hold up. We have other Step 2 products and are confident that the salt air won't get to it. I would highly recommend this swing set!

When I found this playset I was so releaved. I've heard nightmares of people taking 2 weeks to assemble thier cedar sets. This set took me (by myself) 3 hours to build - ready for play! The bonuses I forsee are that in 2 or 3 years when my kids get sick of it...I can disassemble easily and sell! Also, if I were to show my home for sale, it isnt a permanent fixture that would deter any possible buyers. I am very happy I found this product.

My girls are 1 and 3 years old. They love this play center. It is attractive, a perfect size, and worth every cent.

The only thing that is difficult is that during the early morning the sun hits the play center and the slide gets really hot! My girls want to be out there all day long, so not having a shade for the slide makes that very difficult. A slide shade would have been awesome. My only issue with this play center.

My son (who is 15 months now) loves it and wants to go outside and play on it all day, every day.
It is a bit smaller than expected, but is still nice. I wish the weight limit on the swings was higher than 75lbs so a parent could swing too. Also, I wish there were play accessories you could purchase to add activites to the "club house." It would be nice if there was a floor to the bottom of the clubhouse to keep kids neater, too. =)
We found it to be extremely difficult to assemble,it took 2 people 3 days, several hours each day. I wish the instructions were better or the pieces were labeled with piece # and step #.
It is definately nicer than the Little Tikes version of this though!

My daughter loves this set (I researched many), I love it as well (attractive natural, fits small yard nicely).

One glitch, the roof which should wrap under the bar and velcro itself to its underside, works ok on the ladder side and not at all on the other side. This is very annoying and concerns me that it may blow away in inclement weather. Currently working on a way to "jimmy" it.
