We got this for our 3-year old for Christmas. We set it up in the finished basement for the Winter - she hasn't been out of it since Christmas Day. Assembly was a snap; less than 1 hour. Only wrinkle was that the bottom part of the door handle that receives the screw snapped - Step 2 sending a new one at no charge.

As others noted, the pump is very loud but so what? - kids love it so much it doesn't matter. Had a party over New Years and had 4 small kids in it at the same time with plenty of room (it doesn't seem that big to grown-ups, but we forget how little the little ones are). The inside is a bit sparse on features, but the sink and the phone seem to be enough to keep their imaginations engaged, especially if you add toy pots and dishes.

I researched many playhouses and this was one of the largest. I also based my purchase on reviews which I feel is very important. This was a hot item in my area so we had to go out of our way to purchase and I had to take an open box which I don't normally do. My husband and I assembled this cottage in less than an hour in our finished basement so that our grandkids can enjoy during the winter...we couldn't wait till Christmas to give it and they LOVE it! I was missing the phone, the phone holder and 1 screw for the doorbell. That evening I emailed Step2 regarding the missing parts and within 6 days during the busiest time of year, I have received these parts. Very happy with this cottage and the Step2 Company...

I like it, my 4 year old son loves it and it's really cute and the water fountain is the best thing about it. The phone and doorbell are cool. I wish it had a bigger sink and more inside. There are no real features inside just stickers. I wish the secret door was still there. I wish it was bigger but three to four kids fit at a time ages 4, 5, 7, & 9 fit in there. I bought this product for my son's 4th b-day, and it was overall a great buy. He just absolutley loves this playhouse, example...the fountain and mail slot. He wants to go outside all the time now and play.... I am wondering why there are 3 windows, which one is HUGE and they only made shutters for one?? I am going to buy him some boy curtains to put up. I am also disappointed that they took out the secret entrance at the bottome because "ALL" kids love to play hide and seek.
I also throw a tarp over it at night time so it doesn't get ruined.

my kids loved playing with the house but the pump went out within 1 hour play and there is no secret door. that was one of the reasons i bought the house for the secret door and fountain.i was very disappointed about the door not being on the house. they took out the door for saftey reasons i guess that is good thing to do. but it is stil a great play house for my kids.

Great House with the unique feature of the fountain. It has been the one that has kept their interest the longest (1 and 3 yr. old). My only complaint is that the fountain is a bit too loud and it would be nice if it didn't have to be unscrewed to pull it out, since I would like to do a more thorough cleaning more often without the extra hassel. Still, it really is the best one of the bunch so far (they have palyed with many at this point).

We love this playhouse! My 2 1/2 year old son and 13 mos. old daughter play in it everyday for hours. It is really roomy and can easily fit 2 more kids.

GREAT PLAYHOUSE!! PURCHASED FOR MY 22 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER. SHE LOVES IT! DOESN'T WANT TO GO INSIDE FROM PLAYING. WE BOUGHT A SMALL FOOD SET [$] TO KEEP IN THE HOUSE TO USE WITH THE SMALL SINK AND STOVE BURNER. SHE LOVES THE "SECRET DOOR" UNDER THE WINDOW. THE FOUNTAIN WORKS WELL, IT'S A LITTLE NOISY BUT FUN. WE DRAIN IT EVERY NIGHT, JUST TAKES A LITTLE WATER TO WORK. THE MAIN REASON WE CHOSE THIS ONE WAS BECASUE THE FINISHED HEIGHT OF THE HOUSE IS 4' 9". IT'S ROOMY AND WILL LAST A LONG TIME. ALSO THERE IS A WINDOW OR DOOR ON ALL FOUR SIDES SO THERE IS GOOD AIR FLOW AND THE HOUSE DOESN'T GET TOO HOT INSIDE.

Overall, I would rate this product well. The problems we had were the pump did not work well, it was roaring loud and acted like it might stop any moment after only an hour of play in which it was not on the entire hour. The play phone also had buttons that would stick on and remain beeping. I called Step 2, they were very helpful, and are sending replacements for pump and phone right away in the mail. I also thought it would be bigger inside. I would like it better if it had a table inside. My 2 year old, loves the fountain, but we are hoping the replacement holds up this time. I also did not think that the door to the house stayed shut well. The house does seems sturdy all around though.

Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. I ordered online, so I thought in person this was much smaller inside then I had hoped. The door does not seem to want to stay shut well. We had trouble with the pump sounding very loud and not working well, and the toy phone would not quit sounding with buttons sticking when we put it together, so I called Step 2. They were very helpful and are sending me another pump and play phone right away to replace the nonworking parts. I felt I was treated very well, as I should have been with a newly purchased playhouse. If the pumps hold up, I think this will be a very fun house. My 2 year old loves the water fountain, which is why I chose this playhouse. I also like the big window because we have this outside, and I can see easily when he is in the toy house.

I bought this house for my two year olds 2nd Birthday and she absolutely loves it. We had a stone patio built last fall so it worked out well for the old world style of the house to have a stone floor. I was worried about leaving it in the yard with no floor but when we put it together on the patio it was just the right size and not a bit at all overwhelming. We haven't even operated the fountain...just have a pot of flowers in it. The fountain is just soo cute on its own I don't think it matters whether it is running or not to the kids...although when we get some hot summer days I'm sure we will test it out a time or two. My daughter has many new step 2 products in the backyard and I can't say anything negative about any of them...although I did do my research through reading reviews and throughly checking out the product before purchasing. Thanks step 2 again for another great product!

Bought for daughters birthday...2 months later pump has completely quit.[...]( Overall though,its a very cute house,good room for my 2 yr old and 3 friends.

My 2 yr old loves it. Her friend came over and there was plenty of room for both of them inside. I think there was enough room for at least two more children. It was easy to assemble. It took my husband less than an hour. The fountain works great and adds for extra play!!!! I had to refill the water twice, my daughter was splashing it around...make sure you have extra clothes nearby.

The house is well designed. The inside is tall and roomy enough for 3 kids (one 2yr old and two 4 year olds) to play inside. Kids that are a little older should be able to stand up in it too. The door is very sturdy. The doorbell is a lot of fun. The big hit though is the fountain! The big open windows on two sides keep it breezy inside on a warm day. Overall very pleased with our purchase.
