Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

This was a Christmas Present for our 5 year old, so we haven't got it set up in the backyard yet. With very cautious time in the garage, we can tell she is really going to enjoy it, as well as our son as he gets older (18 mo old).
Instructions weren't too bad, I could work alone most of the time, with my wife helping every once in a while for the bigger tasks. I'm not all that handy, and the instructions were fairly clear. Seems quite sturdy. I climbed on it before my daughter, and I am 200 lbs. It took a little extra convincing for some pieces to go into place, but I expected that for a snug and sturdy fit. We thought it was unique and would be enjoyed by our children and by some of the neighbor children. Be prepared to invest in the ground protection to keep your kids safe. We are still contemplating the best material, but again, the instructions offer suggestions for depth for different types of material. The summit was expensive, but we think it will do very well for quite a while (and what outdoor toy isn't expensive?).
I did have two very minor pieces missing (a lockwasher and a barrel nut), but I called on Monday and had it by Wednesday.
I would have given it 5 stars if it was more unique on the 4 sides. (but it is very hard for me to ever give 5 stars for anything. count mine as 4.5 stars)

Packing parts in seperate bags would have made assembly easier. We were missing (4)5/16 "lockwashers and had (4) extra 1/4" lockwashers. Assembly was not difficult. A real hit with the grandson. It was exactly as presented. We would buy similar items if available.

Step2 Response: Thank you for your feedback. If you have not done so already, please contact us directly at 800-347-8372 for the missing pieces.

We got this a couple of days ago. It only took my husband and his brother 2 hours to assemble it. The instructions were very easy to follow. The bottom is open so we put an outdoor carpet to fit underneath. My younger children are 5, 3, and 15 month's. They all love it! My 5 year old climbs all over it. My three year old can get to the middle platform and the baby loves the cave. They can't seem to get enough of it. I see alot of fun with this for many years!!!! My husband and I also climed to the top and we weren't worried at all. It is very sturdy. Great climber!!!

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

This climber was very easy to put together, with the assistance of another person. What I did first was print a second set of instructions, just in case they were missing from the box, and it was also handy for the other person to have their own.
I cut out a couple of square sections of the cardboard box with the help of my knife, I then made small holes in the squares and inserted every screw and bolt that came with the unit, into neat orderly lines so that I could quickly identify the fasteners...this really helped because there are a lot of fasteners and accessories for them.

The instructions were just okay and the accompanying pictures were small and difficult to distinguish what they were alluding to at times. Pay close attention to the mounting and securing instructions of the dual rope ladders

Take advantage of the online video tutorial for additional assistance. The finished product looks great though, it isn't as sturdy as I thought it might be but it's hollow plastic. I don't want to give the impression that it's wobbly, it is not a flimsy piece at all, so buy with confidence.

My only wish is that the unit came with more hand and foot grips.
I bought this piece for a wonderful preschool and intend to purchase one for my home. This unit will serve as a Bat cave to be invaded by two rambunctious girls, a GI Joe fort, the frozen wind swept craggs that spawned Conan and the, "don't fall into the lava pit," of Mount Doom, heck I may get more use out of it than my kids.

This product was well designed for a yard with limited space. The manufacturing uses solid materials and all holes line up accordingly. Assembly was easy, even with my 3 year old "helping". The only thing that I would like to see is four ground anchors instead of just two.

My boys are 4 and 11 and love it. They play together, alone, and with friends. I'm a little nervous when they're at the top, but never seem to have any problems. I would not recommend it for anyone under 4. I put this together by myself, with a little help from my four year old. It took a long time, but the directions were very easy to follow. I do think it was overpriced, but my boys love it so I guess it was worth it!

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

The boys (5 &2) love playing on this, but assembly was not fun at all. Step 2 really could have done a better job sorting out the bolts & washers into seperate bags & labeling them. That was very time consuming trying to figure out & find the right size washers, etc. There were several times that the directions were unclear & we had to go back & redo steps. It took my husband & I 3 hrs to put this toy together & we are usually very efficient at putting together this kind of stuff. For the amount of money that this rock wall cost, Step 2 could have done a better job sorting out the parts. I was very disappointed in that aspect! Luckily the kids love it so that makes me happy! I would recommend this toy, but be prepared to have several hrs to assemble & have a helper, Good luck!

I love this thing. So much better than the usual boring swing set that everyone has. My 5 year-old son likes to climb up to the middle opening/chamber with his toys and play. It's like his own little cave hideaway. I only wish that the middle chamber held more than one child; 80lbs isn't much. Once a kid gets past 4 or 5 he can't be in there with any of his friends (though the space is large enough to accomodate two children). Putting it together, however, is no fun. Thankfully, our set was not missing any of the hardware but it was a good 4 hour struggle with both my husband and I working on it. However, it was a small price to pay for a great looking and unique outdoor play experience. Why don't more companies come up with cool stuff like this?

I haven't had the chance to give it to my grandson yet. His birthday party will be May 16th. I can't wait. I can't write any comments on the use of it yet, but I can say I am completely satisfied with ordering it from Step2. [...] Except now I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to give it to him. I really can't understand why people says it takes so long to put together. I put it together by myself the day I got it. I put it all together except for the screws the day I received it. To see what it looks like. It only took a few minutes. It was very very easy. It looks very nice. I can't wait till his birthday party. I will leave another comment after his party. Maybe I can have some pics to go ith it. But, I can say I am completely satisfied with it so far. And with step 2. He already has other step 2 products that we are satisfied with. He has the 5' slide, up and down roller coaster, and the picnic table, and he will have the crab sandbox for his birthday. Oh yeah, and the par 3 golf course. I can write on and on of how I like Step2, but that's all until after his party.

My son absolutely loves this item. We have had it for two months now, and he is always asking to play on it. We have had all of the neighborhood children over, and each and every one of them loves it. It is amazing how much they enjoy it. It keeps them busy, and will entertain for hours. The age group of children that have enjoyed it is from age 2-10. Though 2 is a little young. My son is currently 4, and it is the perfect age group for him. We anticipate having years of fun out of it. It was worth every penny and more.

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

Very cool design! This is such a wonderful switch from having the usual climbers and swing sets. My son could not wait to play on this. He is 6 and it is a wonderful challenging rock climbing wall for him. He loves the "secret hideout" in the center and putting the flag on top after climbing all the way up is the icing on the cake! The only real issue I had was a little trouble with the instructions. They did not seem to be as explanatory as needed so I had to go back and redo a couple of things to make sure the parts went together correctly, especially when it came to the very top assembly. But over all the assembly went well, having another adult to help is recommended.

The instructions should be re-evaluated. There is more than one area where the instructions tell you to use the wrong screws. They should label the screws and washers more clearly and separately package each size.
Other than that, it was really easy to assemble, it took about an hour. It is a great play place for my kids.
My kids don't usually LIKE to go outside a lot, but since we got this, they don't want to come INSIDE!!

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

The skyward summit is a breath of fresh air among climbing toys. It's all about climbing and my kids never get tired of that. This climber is challenging enough for my 8 year old and easy enough for my 4 and 2 year old to enjoy also. My 2 year old cannot climb up past the rope ladders yet, but he likes crawling in and out of the cave. My only complaint is that it is time consuming to put together, but it was well worth the effort. Before purchasing it should be considered that young children should be supervised on this climber since it is so tall.

We contacted step 2 and they very quickly got the parts shipped despite the holidays. So great customer service. It did take about 3 hours to assemble but it is very sturdy and my 4 year old daughter loves it. I would definitely save this for kids 4 and up as Step 2 recommends. Definitely worth the money and time to put together. I am sure we will enjoy this for many years!

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

I purchased this for my 2 1/2 year old grandson who loves to climb and to slide. I wanted something different - also something that would appeal to his older (9 year old) cousins. I thought it would take him awhile to master the climbing, but he succeeded in makng it to the top within the first hour of use. He loves climbing on it and hiding in the "cave". The older boys are having fun with it as well. Assembly was not as difficult as expected - except for attaching the upper part of the cargo nets. I expect this will get alot of use in the next 6 or 7 years.

This is great product for any backyard! It was a Santa gift for Christmas. The boys LOVE it (ages 11,9,7 & 2) They have spent hours play on it. They have even named it 'Mount Everest'.

The directions were simple to understand. We built it in our garage then moved it to the back yard. We should have just built in the backyard. The only hard part was moving it from the garage to the back yard, thur the back yard gate.
It is a beast to lift over your head over a fence!

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

Our neighborhood is filled with trampolines and swing sets, so I was searching for something a little different. I have 2 boys (ages 6.5 and 2.5). Most everything we owned my oldest had outgrown. Since we move a lot, I wanted something that could move with us. The Skyward Summit seemed to fit the bill so I ordered it. [...] I must say, hubby is handy, so even though he was put off by the number of screws and bolts, etc... that needed to be configured, he put it together in several hours. (NOTE: if you are not handy, you may need to find someone who is to put this together). My oldest loves the mountain. His friends love the mountain. They use it as a club house and a climber. One downside is that there is a hole at the very top where they can climb up and lower themselves onto the platform. I worry they will fall when they get up that high, but there's no keeping the kids from doing it. It's on soft ground and there are huge anchors that keep it in place. Overall, I recommend the summit - it isn't garish in color and it keeps them moving.

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

The only drawback was that there was a small bag of hardware (nuts and bolts) missing from our shipment. I am sure that since this is a newer product, those who put the parts in left this bag out. We ran to the hardware store to pick up the parts we needed and were on our way (we did have to go back as I forgot to mark some pieces that were missing - silly wife that I am). We have a four year old girl and a 1 year old boy. They both enjoy it. My son only climbs underneath, but loves it. My daughter loves racing to the top. All in all - totally worth the money and time.

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

My grandkids couldn't wait to come to grandma's house to, in their words, "climb to the clouds in the sky"! I had to get help to put it together, but it was simple. Hours of fun! I don't think they will ever outgrow it!

Comments about Step2 Skyward Summit:

This is a great product, but beware of a few things! First, the trucking company had mangled and tore up the flimsy box it was shipped in. I had some parts missing and had to buy from the hardware store! Took a good day to put together!

But my autistic/ADD boy loves to climb on it! So in the long run, it is worth it!

Just recommend insurance on shipping, JUST IN CASE!
