My seventeen month old loves this kitchen. I like that it does not have a lot of bells and whistles - it helps to promote his imaginative play. He enjoys the sounds the stove makes and opening and closing the many drawers and cabinets. I felt that it was easy to put together, though there were a few holes that needed to be drilled. It's stable and attractive. I do wish that the stove and sink area were larger, but I feel that it was worth the money.

I bought this for my grandchildren to play with when they visit. I was disappointed when I found the small drawer missing and a pot. I also couldn't get the burner to work. It had a faint sound, but even changing the brand of batteries didn't do the trick. I thought it was really cute and looks like a real kitchen, but was a little dismayed with the storage space. The kids have a lot of play food & dishes! A rack in the oven would have been nice too.

Mommy: "I LIKE this present!"
By bebereedVerified Purchaser from Nyack, NY on 8/4/2008

Attractive Design, Durable, Realistic, Really Works
Cons:
Difficult Assembly
Best Uses:
Imaginative Play, Playing House
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We bought this kitchen for my son as a birthday gift. He just turned 3 and LOVES to help in the kitchen. He is fascinated by the toy and wants to play with it every day. He tells me every day "I like this present" and can't wait to get home from daycare to make dinner in his kitchen. His younger sister (who is 11 months)also likes to play with it.

Assembly was time-consuming - I took us about 1 hour to put it together - but the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I wish the kitchen came with more accessories - like food or more plates- but it is a good start.

I think we will have this toy around for a long time. I also like it that it is not huge and it fits nicely in the play area we have for our kids.

I would definitively recommend to buy this toy if you are looking for a toy-kitchen.

Love it
By KellyVerified Purchaser from Florida on 7/27/2008
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable, Easy Assembly, Realistic
Best Uses:
Group Play, Imaginative Play, Young Children
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent

My son who is 20 months old loves the kitchen. At this age he cannot turn the stove knobs but he is able to play with everything else. The only thing I would change is to have the "plate rack" a little bigger because it feels a little forced when trying to fit the plates in it. I think it is a nice kitchen for the price although it might be worth the extra money to buy the bigger model if more than one child will be playing with it regularly.

Great design... doesn't take up a lot of space... you can put it up flat against the wall, where other models have a table or bbq on other side that looks fun, until you realize you have to move it to the center of the room for them to play with. This is in my daughters sm. bdrm- she got it when she was 15 months old, and has played with it tons (even her 3 year old brother loves to join in.) It was worth every penny!

Describe Yourself:
Parent of Two or More Children, Stay At Home Parent
Bottom Line:

I bought this for my 17 month old who enjoys it and the accessories that come with it. I wish the fridge did something more, maybe a light or something. My 8 year old plays with my youngest with this and enjoys it as well. For the money I paid I just wish there were more lights and sounds. Its easy to put together and sturdy as well. Just be aware that the oven door opens and touches the ground and my daughter has tried to use it as a stepping stool. This can cause a tip hazzard. But overall I would expect this item to last many years of fun imaginative playtime. Very attractive and even matches the Step2 Lifestyle table and chairs we bought. Very nice.

Worth it despite a few things

Few Accessories
Best Uses:
Imaginative Play, Playing House, Young Children
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My daughter (15 months) loves this kitchen. I like that you can pick green or red to go with your home decor. She plays with the phone and stove a lot. I wish there were more sounds, but I didn't want to get the larger one. Only two things I wish were different. The refrigerator door doesn't stay shut very well and the oven door stays closed too well, it takes some elbow grease to get it open. That could just be the case with mine. I assembled it during her nap (in 1 hour). Definitly use an electric screw driver. I bought more accessories to go with it because it has the capacity to hold more. It stands up well on tile and carpet and is very sturdy. I will be keeping this for a long time. I feel comfotable with the plastic curved edges opposed to wood ones with sharp edges and it's light enough to move from room to room. This kitchen is worth it, I would recommend this to a friend.

My only complaint was that not all the holes were pre-drilled. My husband had no difficulty using the screwdriver to screw them into the plastic but I wasn't able to assemble the toy by myself. Other than that, it went together very easily. My youngest, and only girl, is the one who plays with it the most but even my 5 year old boy has played with it a few times. I know as Jenna, who is just 15 months old, gets older she will only enjoy it more and more. We LOVE that this toy is made in the USA. It was one of the major factors in choosing it over others. [...] All in all, we're happy with this purchase and look forward to many happy years with it.

I put this together on my own in about half an hour. Super easy. Began w/out a drill and then ran out to garage to get one b/c it is impossible to screw into the plastic w/out. My 2 yr old loves it. Cons, instead of the cutesy fake window, the space would be better utilised with a mini cabinet to store dishes, food, etc. Also wish the sink was a bit deeper, maybe by an inch. Do not like that in order to screw in burner need tiny tool and the holes are recessed so you can't tell if its actually screwing in or not. I left our undone to be able to replace batteries easier. The burner lights and noises were going off as if possesed (w/out the pot to prompt it), so step 2 is sending out free replacement.

It was a big hit at our house I hated to see it go over to their house so I am looking into other Step2 products for my home and his too. (I would like the fact that the accesorries are from another country known before hand)but still a real good deal! Keep up the good work.

She wished it has a blender or other parts that made sounds but she does play with it everyday.

It took a while to assemble. When all is done, it came out pretty cute and sturdy. My 7 year old daughter wanted a kitchen for a while, and we gave her this for Christmas. She barely plays with it, but my 2 year old boy will play with the stove quite often. I would recommend this to younger children.

My granddaughter loves her "house". She goes to the store, brings home food, putsit away and cooks "soup". Then she starts the sequence again. It's wonderful and allows my daughter to cook dinner without the baby around the real stove.

Santa delivered this Kitchen to my son on Christmas morning. He LOVES it!!! His Papa is always cooking and he always enjoys helping him so he is thrilled to now have a kitchen of his own. My son is 3 1/2 and has been playing with this everyday for at least some part of the day. He enjoys the sounds and all the features. He likes "Cooking" meals for everyone in the family. I love the fact that it fosters creativity and imaginative play. My husband said it was fairly easy to put together, taking maybe an hour to complete. Size of the kitchen is great, not too big but 2 children can play side by side comfortably. Would be perfect if it came with at least a couple of things to cook. Not a problem though, Santa also supplied him with some basic kitchen food. My one year old even tries to play too but only when big brother lets him.

Great Purchase

Awkward Assembly

This kitchen set really is great - and the price is even better compared to what other kitchen sets cost. This set seems to be very durable and has (so far) survived the rough playing from my 1 yr old. We both love how the burner makes realistic noises. She LOVES the cell phone -it looks realistic and beeps when you press the buttons. And she loves opening and closing all the doors and pressing the buttons on the oven and microwave. Overall this was a really great purchase.[...] Also, the assembly was awkward b/c not all the holes are pre-drilled. I still was able to assemble it fairly easily and quickly (without a drill). I assembled it Christmas Eve, and it took about 45 minutes. Even with the assembly quirks - I would still recommend this product to a friend!

Purchases for grandson- he loves it & plays daily with it. A great value and not too feminine looking for a boy! Didn't realize the burners had remote controls. Did not want to pre-drill holes in the plastic, but had to. My Grandson has played everyday with it since he got it. Over all, he loves it and I would purchase it again.

This was a Christmas gift for my one year old daughter and she loves it. Of course she is not using it for imaginative play yet but she enjoys standing at the kitchen and transferring things from the cabinet to oven to basket, etc. Enter my 34 month-old son who thinks the kitchen was his gift! He has been "cooking" for us non-stop. It has helped his imagination to soar. The kitchen is the most-played-with toy in our house for several weeks now. We are very pleased with our purchase. Thanks!

We bought this kitchen for our 18month old son's second Christmas. He loves it!!! It is a great size for him. I read about and looked at every kitchen before we decided on this one... very pleased! He loves everything about it and will play by himself. It has many storage areas and the sounds are losts of fun. I did have to buy some play food. It was easy to assemble by myself. My husband did have to help with one screw and dig out extra plastic in a hole...easy to fix. I would highly recommend this kitchen!

My daughter plays with this everyday. Even her 7 year old brother plays with this when she is "making" things in her kitchen. They take turns cooking and serving food to whoever happens to be around. A great investment. I love the compact size--it does not overtake a room, but has every feature you would look for a in a kitchen. Highly recommended despite how long it took to put together with 3 people working on it. The electronic pieces were hard to get in to the correct position, but once they were installed, worked great. Santa brought this to our 18 month old daughter. She had seen another brand of play kitchen in a store but we didn't like the quality. This one is much better quality. She was so excited on Christmas morning and every day since. She plays with it constantly. The only drawback was that the first two or three nights after Christmas she would get up in the middle of the night to play in her kitchen! She is so happy every morning when she makes breakfast while her dad cooks our breakfast! She wants to wear her apron and makes him wear his too! I was afraid this model might be too small but it is just right. It is ok for her now and will grow
