Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

Wanted a kitchen for my daughter but didn't want it to take up a lot of space since we live in an apartment in Brooklyn. We have a terrace so when the weather gets nicer it'll go out there and won't take up any valuable space inside. For now she is loving it. My only wish is that it came with two stools as her and her friends sometimes fight over it. Other than that it's fantastic!

Nice design, my 3 1/2 year old boy was so excited to see this next to the xmas tree on Christmas morning. We'll use it inside now, then onto the patio by the pool in the summer - great for both indoor and outdoor play! Stove knobs make a noisy "Clacky" sound, but otherwise it's great! And we'll be ordering another stool so he can 'entertain' on the patio...

We purchased this for my 15-month old son for Christmas. It only took DH about 30 minutes to assemble completely. He would recommend using a drill to start screw holes. This unit does not come pre-drilled. As for our son, he loves it!!! It has provided hours of play for both children- 1 and 5 year old boys. We chose this over the kitchen sets because it had a more masculine look.

What a wonderful little set! Most kitchen sets are geared more towards little girls, but the Bistro is very gender-neutral yet allows my 17 month old son to pretend play, eat, do dishes, grill/cook in the oven, use a refrigerator, and sit at the table and or entertain! We have one of the Step2 play houses as well, and this will go great outside in the summer along with the house. We're so pleased with this purchase and my son has had it under 24 hours and he absolutely loves it!

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

I loved that this item was something I could get for my son. He loved to play with the little pots and pans. My friends 6, 8 and 11 year olds really loved playing with it and kept them busy for a good while. I wish it made some cooking noise or that the grill area made the "sizzle" sound. I gave it 5 stars anyways since I knew this when I purchased it so it isn't the product/companys fault. The umbrella is cute and if I were to use it outside it would provide a bit of shading. It does keep my 2 year old son occupied for a little while and gets him to cook and move things around in his outdoor kitchen. He likes to stuff things in the fridge like his Momma does with her bigger fridge. All in all, it was worth buying.

My son received this from his grandmother for Christmas last year. We keep it inside and our son loves it. I had picked it out because our son really loves playing with kitchens at other peoples houses & school. However my husband didn't want him to have a kitchen....we compromised and got the bistro since it really looks more like an outside grilling area. I do recommend buying additional food. Product has lasted and still looks great.

This is great! My house has become the house that all my sons friends from the neiboorhood love to play at. They have a blast grilling and cooking up stuff for all of us moms. The set is really sturdy and has plenty of room for three to four kids to be around, two sitting and two on the kitchen side. It really gets thier imagination going. The food is very realistic. All around beautiful product. THe only con that I could think of is that thier was only one stool included and I had to purchase another one so my boys wouldn;t fight. THe good thing is that the second stool is offered at such an affordable price. All around great product as many of thier products are.

My 2-year old grandson and his friends love playing with the grill. The stool is a little high for his age group, so we'll supervise until they grow a little taller. I think this product is pretty terrific. The only improvement I might recommend is to add "pushable" buttons for the refrigerator and oven. The kids love turning the knobs on the top of the grill, but ignore the button decals (hey, they're only 2!).

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

We bought this grill for our two year old and we were slightly disappointed with it. It was easy to assemble, but when we put it together the door for the refrigerator didn't fit property and it would fall off if my son tried to open it. We ended up putting an extra screw under play grill on top and that seemed to fix the problem. It's underneath, so you can't see it but it won't be able to be disassembled. I was also a little disappointed in the overall quality of the toy. It is flimsy and it's a good thing we intended to use it inside because I think it would blow over easily outside. My son does enjoy playing with it but I probably wouldn't recommend this product to ana friend.

I think it is cute. My only real complain is the umbrella isn't that strong. I haven't let my kids use it because I'm scared they will just break it. The other thing I had to do was drill holes that were suppose to be predrilled. Otherwise it went together good and my kids like it.

Kids LOVE this "kitchen"
By Proud Mom of One from Orlando, FL on 6/2/2008
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable, Easy Assembly
Best Uses:
Group Play, Imaginative Play, Young Children
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

Our niece has the Grand Kitchen that our son loves to play with; however, my husband did not want a "kitchen" for his boy...we compromised and purchased the bistro set and our son plays with this just as much as the Grand Kitchen. We had a birthday party and the bistro set was a hit with all the kids! I enjoy watching my husband and son have "cook-outs" while I am waiting at the "picnic area" for the hotdogs and hamburgers -this set provides great family play time!!

The stool on the bistro set is a little tall for him (he is almost 2) but he will grow into it. The only "wish list" item I would have is that the burners make the same sizzling sound as the Grand Kitchen burners...other than that, great product, well worth the money - a perfect boy "kitchen"!

Very nice...2&5yr. old love it!

Describe Yourself:
Parent of Two or More Children, Stay At Home Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

My 2&5yr. old daughters really like this bistro. I set it up outside next to their playhouse, so they pretend it is their own grill/patio area. But oddly enough, their favorite part is the umbrella. Which by the way, if you have this playset outside-make sure you close and remove the umbrella everynight...just in case it gets windy, because it will end up in the neighbor's yard. My neighbors were nice enough to return it:) I knew from the description that there was only 1 stool so I bought another, but it should really have been included. This playset is best used by younger children (who don't especially like sharing), so avoid some fights and buy the extra stool;)

Our daughter has her own little town in our yard..all products from Step2...The Bistro Grille just set off her little play town....it is soo cute. She loves that there are so many accessories to play with. She really enjoys "grilling" just like the adults. We like the product very much the only thing we think would be nice to add to it would be another stoll. So there can be more group play.

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

At first, I wasn't sure if I liked the grill, because it didn't really do anything. No sound effects or lights to attract my child. Then, I noticed my son making his own grilling and water sound effects, which proves that it promotes imaginative play. We keep the bistro grill out in our screen house so our son can "cook" while we are grilling out. He even likes to sit and eat at his own counter!
One complaint, the play food is made in China, not the USA!!

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

This was such a hit at my 5 year old daughters party. They kids were cooking for us and having a ball. It has a little bar and bench so one can cook and one can eat. It has an oven, frig, stove and sink. We've used it outside and inside and is very easy to carry and clean. Step 2 did it again by including an umbrella to keep the sun off the kids. My daughter can not be out in the sun for long so the umbrella, that protects them from uv rays, is a plus!!

I bought this for my grandson's first birthday. His brother is 3 and is enjoying it as well. I saw all the children playing with it at his birthday party - all having fun. The height of it is perfect for children 4 and under. I ordered an extra stool to avoid arguments during play. Only drawback is that it doesn't make sounds like some kitchens do, but for the price, it is very good. [...] All in all, it is a great toy!

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

My son has always loved playing kitchen at my other friend's houses (they have daughters). I have the typical macho husband who doesn't want his son playing with girl toys so when I saw this I knew it was perfect. He loves grilling hamburgers and hotdogs and putting things in and out of the oven and fridge. My only wish is that is made more noises or had working buttons over the oven.

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

We got this toy for my 2 1/2 year old daugther and she absolutely loves it. We have it set up just outside our kitchen right now, so she BBQ's and makes us and her dolls food while I cook, which keeps her busy, occupied, and out of the "real" kitchen.

When it gets warmer, we will move this toy outside, as the umbrella provides great sun protection. It will keep her busy while her daddy is using the real BBQ. However, I would not recommend leaving the toy outside permanently as the pretty colors would probably fade in the sun, and as the accessories would most likely get lost in the yard.

The toy is very compact, easy to carry and move around and provides lots of room for imaginative play. It also comes with enough accessories to start playing, without having to buy an extra "food kit" right away.

This toy would also seems to work for boys, as my daughter's male playfriends have enjoyed playing with it as well.

The only two downsides to it I could see are the fact that it only comes with one stepstool (vs. two), and that the "appliances" in the kitchen don't make real noise as is the case in a true playkitchen.

All in all, this is an excellent value for the money, and I would definitely recommend purchasing this toy.

My husband and I agreed on this grille as a substitute kitchen for our son who was turned 3 on the 4th of this month. He just got it today, and he will not stop grilling us hot dogs. This is a fun way for children to experience cooking, and I am a firm believer that boys should have the experience of cooking as well as girls (now my husband is also a believer). I will have to go out and purchase him so more accessories [...] outside of that this bistro has all the bells, and whistles and we give it two thumbs up.

I have nothing negative to say about the bistro grill at all.

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

I was very skeptical, as I wrote in my previous review. This is the scoop! My 2 year old daughter received her gift Christmas morning and since then has played with it very enthusiastically!! I am extremely happy with my decision! I put the stickers on, she has not tampered with them. She uses the u.s.a. stool!!! I bought play food and accessories from another trustworthy site. On Christmas day, she cooked her food on her grill and served it on her tray to our relatives. Her grill and my daughter were the hit of the day!!!! Our home is kind of on the smaller side, so of course this means smaller rooms. I personally do not like clutter. I find myself moving the grill from room to room to fit my personal need at the moment and it works perfectly in size no matter what room we are in. I feel she is safe playing with it in her bedroom when she is having imaginative alone time, we color,do arts/crafts...., in living room. We play with play-doh (on a pan), and even have had picnics with real food in our kitchen. I feel as long as we keep our grill clean and take care of it. It will last many years and bring us joy and good times. I would definitely recommend the Bistro Grille as a must have toy!!!!! Thank you Step 2 for made in the u.s.a. toys, creative good times and an Awesome Christmas!!! I am glad to have a fun toy without batteries. A good toy and a good imagination creates a good time and endless possibilites!!! p.s. My older children and her cousins love it too (they played house)! Her Daddy thought it was cool too! I wanna say so many things but, if you don't want to read my long review (SIMPLY SAID "I FEEL EVERY CHILD AND HOME NEEDS A BISTRO GRILLE".

This was a great buy for both my son and daughter. The only downside was that someone didn't check where they put the step2 logo and it was placed near the door handle instead of where it was suppose to be per the picture. The indent where the logo should be is empty. Doesn't hinder the quality of play, but would have been nice if this was checked before shipping off.

Since the lead paint epidemic I have been skeptical on purchasing China merchandise. I see the grill is U.S. made and the umbrella and play food are China. I do not plan on using the food and undecided about using the stickers (uncertain where they are made). I have purchased U.S. made food, elsewhere. I would have preferred something a little more feminine in color but, it was the only toy that was not totally made in China at the store. My intentions are to keep this toy in my home. I like the size, the price was very good (on sale). I thing it is neat that one side you can play chef and the other side you can use the nice size table to play games on, eat lunch, color, draw. Play school, house...endless possibilities. I think my little girl will enjoy this, I am hoping I would recommend this to a friend. My one question is why does the stool say "this is not a toy"??????? I wonder if the stool is made in the U.S. I am hoping all Step 2 products (accessories...) will be made in the U.S. Quality is everything. I am willing to pay the extra $ for a trustworthy product.

Step2 Response: Our Step2 stools are made in the USA.

For this price it should have some sound
By Jas's mom from Nanaimo, B.C. on 11/27/2007
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable
Cons:
Difficult Assembly, Few Accessories, Flimsy, Poor Quality
Best Uses:
Group Play, Imaginative Play, Playing House, Young Children
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent, Stay At Home Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

For the price, there should be sound and lights on the fridge and stove panels. The fridge and stove doors seems to be very flimsy and don't fit well.

All this aside, my daughter really enjoys playing with it.

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

I love this play kitchen over all the others. We looked at one that had a bbq and kitchen in it but decided on this one as we need to keep it small for space. I run a child care and both boys and girls love this pretend play. We drag it outside durring the day and the kids love it. It Is nice and light and small enouph to fit in the cornner for the night. We orrigonaly got this for our 2 year old son. Who loves to cook. But now we share it with all the kids in my care. I am looking to get another stool for all the kids to sit and pretend.

Outside toy really meant for indoors.
By R.G. from South Carolina on 9/30/2007
Pros:
Easy Assembly, Many Accessories
Cons:
Poor Quality, stickers don't stay on.
Best Uses:
Imaginative Play, Older Children, Young Children
Describe Yourself:
Education Oriented, Parent of Two or More Children, Stay At Home Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

I really liked the idea of my boys "grilling out" while their dad grilled out. I thought it was such a cute toy but once we put it together and kept it outside, it was not long before the stickers peeled off. The grill just doesn't look as nice with out the stickers. I'll look for replacement stickers if Step 2 offers them but I am disappointed in the quality of this "outside" toy. It is best suited for an "inside" toy.

Step2 Response: Please call our consumer service department at 1-800-347-8372 for replacement stickers.

Pros:
Realistic
Cons:
Flimsy
Best Uses:
Young Children
Describe Yourself:
Stay At Home Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

This is a good indoor toy, but really grilling is for outdoors. Which is where we keep ours and now all the stickers have peeled up only after two weeks outside in this Arizona heat. And also the pole to the umbrella is not heavy enough to with stand high winds. Due to that ours is missing.

Step2 Response: We do apologize for your inconvenience. Please contact our consumer service department for assistance at 1-800-347-8372.

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

I took the umbrella off as it seems to be in the way. I like the toy itself, but the accessories could be a little thicker(like the older canister sets). It is best for 18-48 months due to size. Natural colors blend in easily. Men love it.

I purchased this kitchen for my in-home daycare and it is a huge hit with both the girls and the boys. There are multiple sides of play and it tucks right into a corner when not in use. Great for small spaces too!

I gave this to my twin granddaughters who are 2 1/2..it is wonderful..watching them interact is so delightful!!! They are used to sharing, therefore, one cooks and serves the other and vice versa. I am ordering another stool though..there are times when they both want to eat at the bar! It is fantastic..right up there with the Sweetheart Playhouse.[...]

Not happy with umbrella
By Mom of two from New York on 7/30/2007
Cons:
Flimsy
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

We have a lot of step 2 products and love them. However, this one disappointed us. The umbrella is much flimsier than that of the up and away sand table. It is advertised as doubling as a cover but it blows away on a windy day as it has no way of securing it down.

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

The Bistro Grille was exactly what we were looking for, as our son really liked the play kitchens at pre-school. This was his big present for his 2nd birthday. This item is perfect for the boys too. The colors are more boyish, and the "grill" is so cool. He loves the pretend foods. All the Mommies in my playgroup thought it was darling. I only wish there were more food items included.

Comments about Step2 Bistro Grille:

This is a great product that it is a perfect alternative to a Play Kitchen for a little boy! My 2 year old son always loves being "like daddy" so now he can grill just like daddy! He loves it! The only thing that is missing that he ask for is to turn it "on" (meaning no realistic noises). I enjoy that becasue it encourages him to create his own sound effects!

It even includes the umbrella, stoll, dishes, and the food. Best value I found while I was comparing other kitchens.

Just the right size for a smaller playroom. Grandkids age 3 (girl) and 5 (boy) enjoy it. Doesn't take up much room and the round design works well in a corner area.
