Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

I purchased this for my 2 and 1/2 year old twins for Christmas. It was very easy to assemble and took very little time. I love how you can play with this from all sides. My kids play with this for hours. The only drawback was that my husband had to velcro down the cash register because it kept falling off the counter. I also wish some more pots and pans came with it. Other than that it has been very enjoyable.

We bought this for my grandson who is always trying to help me cook. He absolutely loves it. It is so much more fun for him to have his own kitchen and store to play with. When we go shopping, he is drawn to cash registers and loves to swipe my credit card. The Fresh Market Kitchen seemed to made for him and he is really enjoying it. It s so much more than just a kitchen.

Bought this product for my two year old twin boys. I love the math element of the cash register and mini store. Plenty of space for both boys and lots of different roles to play, chef, clerk, customer, etc. Great buy, wish it came with play money...

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

I bought this for my 2yr old daughter  birthday. She and her cousins (1 and 2yrs)play all day. The set came with 10 very hard fruits and veggies and 10 bakery items, so I had to buy more that are softer. 1 pot, 1 skillet, I had to buy more. They love to turn on the stove nobs to hear it boil and sizzle. I would have liked to seen the refridge with push buttons insted of stickers; and it make water and ice nosie. The oven has not stayed close sence I pulled it out the box. The hood vent really have a light. I think that could have been used for the oven or microwave. The microwave don't make noise or light up, no push buttons like the cheaper version. I don't mind the battery useage. All of the appliances are hard for the kids to pull open; there should have been actual handles. The kitchen sink could  have been a litte wider and deeper, and the facuet need running water noise. I'd rather have more amities then for it to come with food that you have to buy extra of anyway. There should have been two grocery bag insted of one. The cash register is really fun and have a credit card and coins, but it don't hold dollar bills. It's a very good hight for them to grow with.

We purchased this kitchen as a Christmas Gift for our soon to be 3 year old granddaughter. She loves loves loves it, and it is adorable. She especially loves the noises that come when the "stove" is turned on. However, I was disappointed in that the oven door won't stay shut. It appears that the opening is too large for the door to stay snugly closed.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

I use this kitchen in my home daycare! All the kids age 1-4 absolutely love it! I love the realistic appearance, the L-shape gives room for a number of children to play at once. THe cash register is great, and the light, and stove top sounds are great as well! The assembly was certainly difficult. There were no holes that were pre drilled. You will NEED a power drill to drill your holes before getting any of the screws in. Once it is put together it is a GREAT buy!

We were hoping this would be a hit and it definitely has been. Despite getting to our house after the holidays (parents' fault), it's been an instant success.

I will say I was disappointed in the assembly process as our kitchen was missing multiple parts. We could still put it together, but not as completely as we should have been able to. I could see if those were critical parts and delayed an on-time Christmas present how disappointing it would be.

Step2 Response: Thank you for your feedback. If you have not done so already, please contact us directly at 800-347-8372 for assistance with the missing parts.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

Great combination of market and kitchen--our favorite things to play. My son and daughter both love it. No regrets, but here are some ideas for future models: include a telephone on the wall, make the stove deeper and give it shelves to make it more universal, work on the cash register a bit--our numbers don't show in the second row--need to call for replacement, and won't hold fake coins because slots are too narrow...but don't want to use real ones due to choking hazard. Pre-drilled holes would REALLY help--quite a workout even with electric screwdriver. Great directions though!

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

This is an absolutely AWESOME little kitchen. My 7 year old special needs nephew loves this kitchen. He has spent hours with it everyday since Christmas. For the money, I couldn't be happier.

Of course it could be better...what can't get better. The only real suggestion I would offer is to have more accessories and maybe a blackboard or whiteboard area.

Instructions are very clear, concise and easy to follow. I used a regular sized, non-power screwdriver (but not the one it came with) to put it together and didn't find it very difficult. You do have to use a little "elbow grease." It probably took about 90 minutes to put it together and put on the stickers.

HINT - PUT SPICE STICKER ON BEFORE PUTTING UP RAIL ON SPICE RACK!!!

For those that claim the bakery "glass" isn't clear - it has protective film on BOTH sides of the glass. If you remove both sides, it is totally clear. Also screws that come with it are actual size in the directions, so easy to sort if you match them up to the pictures.

Service & Delivery comments:

Add more accessories and a black board or white marker board.

I like how it is a store and a kitchen- it makes it less about domesticating children (and also more boy-friendly according to my husband). We were missing two parts, not needed to hold it together, but needed for the look. I called Step2 [...] They were very responsive. I would recommend this product and step2 as a company.

Overall, great toy! I would buy again. I wish it had a phone, or the microwave would 'beep", or sound effects other than the stove to make it more like a "real" kitchen. Would have been nice to have a few more accesories with it. Assembly was good, just took a while. [...] We also purchased the table and chairs as well and love them!

Love the kitchen. Hate the price. Thought it was great enough to justify purchase, although it was a bit higher than our normal gift budget. Then 2 weeks after we purchased it, I found it at our local [...] for $110 LESS. That's right- it was less than $70 at [...]. I'll probably never buy from Step2 online again, knowing that I could find their products from a place like [...] for SO much cheaper. That's a ridiculous difference.

My kids love to play in their kitchen. It looks attractive in their playroom and is very durable. The lights and sounds are very real. The only drawback is lack of "counter space" but we placed a small storage cabinet next to it for added counter space as well as bins to store all the play food and untensils. Would definitely recommend this product!!!

We all love this little cafe and kitchen. We like that it can be used to play restaurant in addition to just kitchen stuff. It comes with little bakery display case and a cash register, so my kids love taking orders and filling them. Assembly took a long time and you must have a power drill to do it. It took my husband over two hours with the drill. Don't wait til midnight on Christmas Eve like we did. It's a great play set, I deducted the one star because of the complicated assembly.

We bought this for our 20 month old son and it has proven to be a hit. He loves to play with the kitchen. He likes the interactive pieces (stove, stove light, and register). He plays with his fresh market kitchen on a regular basis. There was also a good amount of food/play things for the kitchen so it isn't overwhelming. I like it too because it keeps him out of the real kitchen. The only issue we had was the cash register was not attached to the counter but we added some adhesive to stick it down and now it works great!

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

We had an older Step2 kitchen that had been handed down but still worked great. However, the girls fell in love with this kitchen at a friend's house so we decided to get it for them for Christmas. It was a great choice and looks good in our house. The twins love to cook just like mommy and now they can and even "sell" their creations too! This is a great investment and will be around for our youngest to enjoy as well.

Service & Delivery comments:

Make the decals for the fridge & stove handles a little easier to apply by indicating which end is up. Also, add shelves in the fridge and the oven!

We got this for our boys (ages 1 and 3) for Christmas this year. It has great features such as the boiling and frying sounds on the stove, the light that really works, the cash register and many others. It's great that it is a market/kitchen so there are several stations to play at the same time. Would highly recommend this!

So cute and realistic. My daughter who is 19 months loves to play with it, as do my 3-5 year old nieces. The market part is so cute and will lead to a lot of play. The foods are a little basic, but the cash register makes up for it!

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

We bought this for our son and spent a lot of time researching the different kitchens. I'm very pleased with it. My only complaint would be the assembly. We do not have a power drill and I feel that companies should keep this in mind when designing these type of toys. I spent 4 (frustrating) hours putting this together. Other than that, I would recommend this to other parents. Especially parents looking for a kitchen for boys. This is great for both boys/girls. My son loves it! Just be prepared to spend a lot of time assembling.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

We gave our 21 month old daughter this kitchen for Christmas and she absolutely loves it! As soon as she uncovered it, she started playing with it immediately and loves to "sell" us items from the bakery and scan the credit card. She loves the stovetop burners that make noise and loves to turn on the light on the hood. She's already spent many hours playing with this kitchen since Christmas morning.

I'll agree with the other comments about difficult assembly as it took my husband and I over 2 hours to put it together and he's really handy (the step by step instructions are really clear and easy to follow, at least). You definitely need a power drill, not the screw driver it comes with for assembly. The cash register isn't attached and it kept sliding off, as some of the other parents noted, but we bought some velcro so it now stays put on the countertop.

Great kitchen overall once you get it put together!

My 3 year old is having so much fun with the Fresh Market Kitchen. She "cooks" for me on the stove that "sizzles" and "boils." Then, we play bakery and I "buy" things from the little pastry window and she rings me up on the cash register. She loves to eat lunch on the little counter space on the other side.

It took a few hours to put together but, it was well worth it!

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

I have 21-mth-old boy/girl twins that we bought this kitchen for. I loved the design that allows one child to play on one side and another child to play on the other. They love to pass things through to each other. Most kitchens I researched didn't have this feature for the price range we were shopping in. They love turning the overhead light off and on and also the lights/sounds on the stove. I love that they can pretend to play in the kitchen or pretend to play store. I bought it with the plan in mind that they will be able to use this for quite a few years.
The only thing that I was slightly disappointed about was the lack of accessories. While it was stated how many came with it, I think the picture implies there are more than there are. We don't have a problem picking up more play food, etc on our own though.

Service & Delivery comments:

I would recommend permanently attaching the black piece that holds the scanner to the cash register. Every time the kids or myself would pick up the scanner, that piece would come with it. My husband glued that piece to the register within 24 hours and it's been great since.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

I bought this for my three year old son and he loves it! I really think this is the best kitchen available since it is able to grow with your child...I bought a much nicer cash register to go with it but it is nice that it comes with one. My son is pretty tall for his age and this is taller than him and really perfect for his size..he doesn't completely understand the whole grocery shopping thing but that is something that he can get into more as he gets older...like someone else said the bakery window is not clear its a cheap plastic tinted window and I just left it out since it scratches easily and gets dirty and you can't see the food through it but, other than that the kitchen is wonderful ...SOO much to do with it and good bonding time that I enjoy with my boy!

Step2 Response: Thank you for your feedback. Please contact us directly at 800-347-8372 for assistance with the bakery window.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

This kitchen is great in that it has all the different sections of play. You can shop for food, then prepare, then serve. I love the colors, it blends well with the colors in my home. And my kids love the more realistic look of their kitchen rather than it being red, blue and yellow like most of their toys. The only three complaints I have are with the cash register, the assembly and the bar/dining area. The cash register constantly falls of the counter and the tray that the scanner rests in constantly falls of the cash register. It would have been nice for the tray to be attached permanently to the register and the register attached to the counter. It also would have been nice to have a couple of stools included for the eating area. And pre-drilled holes would have made assembly much faster. Overall, my one year old and three year old love this toy and I would buy it again.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

My kids received this for Christmas and love it! The cash register has been a hit, as well as, the sounds the kitchen makes. We put this together in about an hour using a power drill. (The screwdriver that came with it was never used.) One person who commented on here said that the glass for the display wasn't very clear, we found that if you take both sides of the covering off it looked like a window. (Easy to see through.) But, the directions do not say to take off both sides and we were reluctant at first to take off the second side, but are now glad we did. The kitchen does come with a push on light, that I wish would turn off on it's own. The kids leave it on and I'm sure we will either be buying more batteries soon, or not replacing them. Also, on one website it stated that a phone came with this kitchen and on this site it said nothing about it. My kids always love the play phone, and I wish it came with the Fresh Market kitchen. It can get a bit cramped with one child playing with the cash register and the other trying to use the oven/stovetop. Other than that it's a great idea, and was worth the money.

He loves to pretend to ring up the groceries with the cash register. It is a great great toy! Only thing: make sure to have a drill - the tiny screwdriver they give you will not do the job unless you want it to take half the day!

My husband and I put this kitchen together in about 1.5 hours with a drill. It wasn't difficult compared to some furniture and other toys. Our son and daughter like it so far - and I can see them and future children playing with it for years, since it won't be moved around the house a lot and get torn up. I really like the cash register (has a built in calculator!) and the accessories it came with. We may or may not purchase more things to go with it. Really it would just be more stuff for them to scatter, so I'm leaning toward no. So far, with a 3yr old and a 1 yr old, there is enough to go around. I think the 3 yr old will lose interest in it after a while, but by then the 1 yr old will start to really enjoy pretending with it.

Bought for grandchild for Christmas. Like the fact that it doesn't take up a lot of space; however, it would be nice if it had more accessories. For the price I would have expected just a bit more but I would still recommend this item.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

I spent a good amount of time trying to decide between this kitchen and Grand walk-in kitchen, and finally decided to go with this one.

I really like the stove light that flickers to imitate real fire. I wish the microwave menu is something they can press and make sound, but it's just a sticker. The cutting board is also just a sticker, so kids don't really play with it. I was hoping that it was going to be a pull-out cutting board or something like that.

The kitchen is a lot smaller than I imagined it to be. I have two girls 3 1/2 and almost 2 year old. My 2 year old plays with it every day, my older one will also play with it, but I think she may be too big for it.

Another complaint I had was that the oven door won't stay closed, and the see-through bakery window is not really see-through. Step2 is sending me a faster for the loose oven, so hopefully that will work.

Overall, it was a great purchase. I just wish it was bigger to allow two kids to play inside the kitchen so they can cook together. But then I guess if you really wanted the size, you should go with the grand walk-in kitchen.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

I recently purchase the Fresh Market Kitchen for my 23 month old twins for the holidays. I researched several play kitchens and decided to go with this one because of the multiple uses and play areas it has. It truly has 360 degrees of play. One side is the "market", with a cash register and bakery counter; one side is the kitchen area, with special effect stove top; and the other side is a dining counter. My twins loved this from the second they saw it. They play with it every single day. My husband and I joke that we want a kitchen as nice as the kids' one day!

The down side was the assembly. It came in 2 huge cartons and eveything was well labeled. There are small indentations where the pieces fit together, but no holes are drilled. They give you a tiny little screwdriver that is impossible to use. We didn't have a drill handy to drill the holes, so we had to hammer each screw a little first to get it going and then use a normal size screw driver to put it together. The screws are all different sizes and vary ever so slightly, so they are impossible to tell apart. I guarantee we didn't use the correct screws the whole way through, but it seems pretty sturdy. I would have liked more sound effects (beeping microwave, water sounds from the sink, etc.), but all in all, this is a nice product. It took my husband and I 2 hours to put this together. It would have gone a lot faster had the holes been predrilled or even marked better for alignment.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

We bought this kitchen for our 20-month old son. He loves to "cook" food on the stove top, fill the grocery bag, and move food in and out of the oven, fridge and microwave. We withheld the cash register for now, since it is not attached -- I was afraid it would keep falling off. The sound effects on the stove top are great -- our son "dances" to the boiling water sound. He also enjoys the task light under the hood. He provides his own beep sounds for the buttons on the fridge and microwave.

The only problem we had was with assembly. Most of the screws do not have corresponding holes in the plastic parts, requiring you to punch them through the plastic. The instructions do say that a drill is recommended but not required, but we put this together after our son had gone to bed and didn't want to make too much noise. Needless to say, my husband's hands were blistered from using the screwdriver to punch screws through the plastic. I'm not sure why Step2 didn't provide screw holes -- seems like it would have been a fairly easy thing to do and would have saved a lot of work.

I just finished assembly of this kitchen.... took well under two hours. A cordless drill is a MUST! Don't attempt without one unless you'd like sore arms. Put this together myself with ease. Instructions are perfect; understandable, clear and concise! My one suggestion would be to place the spice rack sticker before you put on the spice rack railing - it's a little tough to get your hands in there for perfect placement.

The kitchen looks like what I imagined size-wise; perfect for one or two toddlers. As with all Step2 products, this is well constructed and imaginative.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

I looked for many months before I came across this kitchen. I wanted to make sure to get a durable one for my 21 month old. I was so excited to see the construction of this kitchen was not the same poor quality that is common to many of the kitchens out there.

The kitchen only took a couple of hours to assemble. The difficult part was the spice rack getting to that middle screw. The holes could have been pre-drilled and that would have made it a little easier to assemble by yourself. All in all it is complete and looks great! I can't wait to see my daughter's face on Christmas day.

One of the great things about this kitchen is that the design allows for lots of play space without taking up a ton of wall space.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

My 19 month old daughter is getting this for Christmas and I know she'll love it... she spent nearly 20 minutes in the store playing with the display! We put it together already and it's adorable. The accessories are nice and I ordered the Life Style pots and pans accessories, since it only comes with 2 plates, cups, spoons, etc. I only have two minor complaints. One, they provide you with a teeny tiny screwdriver when you really need a power drill when putting this together. It went much faster after that. Second, the "glass" on the bakery counter really isn't as clear as they make it seem, but since I think we'll use that area for storage of her accessories, it's not such a huge deal. All in all, this is yet great product that I've purchased from Step 2!

My three year old son and his two year old buddy play with this new kitchen every day, for hours at a time. We love it! The assembly was not fun... [...], and coming in two HUGE boxes, you'd think the stickers could at least be applied for us, and it would be nice to come part way assembled!!!!!!!

We have purchased many step 2 products. My daughter saw this and feel in love with it. I wish it came with more food though. She had the step 2 grand walk-in kitchen (we just sold it),for only 2yrs. I think she only played with that a handful of times. Hopefully she plays more with this one.

I bought this for my three year old daughter. She plays with it all the time. She loves that the stove makes sounds and the light turns on. I love that it is durable and also a market so when she gets a little older she can have some fabulous imaginative play. It is also not gigantic so it fits easily in the corner of our living room.

This kitchen is PREFECT for my little 2 year old son. It is the perfect height for him. I love that the kitchen is two sided of play area and the bakery is so cute. It is a little shorter than I expected. Again, it's a perfect kitchen for a 2 year old but I am sure as he gets taller (4 or 5 years old) it will be too short. Overall, this kitchen is absolutely adorable!

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

We had another kitchen picked out to buy for my daughter's birthday, and the day we were ordering the Fresh Market Kitchen popped up as new! I saw it and immidiately thought it would be perfect for my daughter. She loves to pretend to go shopping and cook dinner with this kitchen. I think it's a perfect combination! It's like getting two toys in one! My husband did express that it was difficult to put together without there being any holes for the screws to go into. You would definitely need an electric screwdriver for this. Also when it was shipped all the decales were badly bent and could not be used. This was disappointing of course because we were putting it together the night before my daughters birthday. I called Step 2 and they were very nice and said they would mail out another set of decales to me right away. My daughter didn't even know the kitchen didn't have the decales on it, so it didn't take away from her excitement. [...] Overall a wonderful product. I did take away a star though for the difficulty in assembly and having to wait on a 2nd set of decales.

My 2 and a half year old LOVES this toy. It combines her two favorite things to play, house and grocery store. She will play independently for quite a while in this kitchen. The kitchen/store combo provides a new aspect to the kitchen that makes it great for boys and girls.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

We were debating between the Grand Kitchen and the Fresh Market kitchen. Ultimately, we went with the Fresh Market kitchen because it had a cash register. We were very disappointed in the quality of the cash register - it is not attached to the counter which we thought it was - and it did not open like it was supposed to. The drawer sticks and it is very flimsy. The "scanner" is attached to the cash register and is inconvenient to use. We did call Step2 and they are sending us another one though. Overall, the rest of the kitchen is great. My daughter loves the stove's sounds and spends a lot of time "cooking" for us.

Service & Delivery comments:

I would definitley change the cash register - maybe have it be attached to the counter or build it in. Also adding a phone to the kitchen would be ideal. My daughter uses the cash register as a phone with the scanner as the receiver. :)

My 21 month old just loves this kitchen! The best thing about it is that it is multi-purpose! There is a market and bakery for purchasing food with cash register. There is food that comes with it, but we have purchased additional just to fill it up! It also works great for many age levels....my 8 and 5 yr. olds play along with their little sister more even more fun.

Comments about Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen:

Great item but wish the colors were brighter and the stickers for the trim were more kid like rather than looking so much like a traditional adult kitchen. Love the idea of the store and wish the cash register was where the stove is so that it looked more like a store and the food could be put right into the bag. Overall great item though. I like the different and unusual items that step 2 comes up with.
