This is the second zip zoom pedal car that we have purchased because everyone in our neighborhood loves it. Our first car was purchased for our then three year old daughter who liked it but was not quite big enough to enjoy it completely. This year, at four, she loves it and zips around the neighborhood. She prefers this car to her bike. We are now replacing the original car because after two years of hard play by our daughter and neighborhood children the tires have begun to crack, etc. I would not say that this is due to a product defect but simply due to a number of kids using the product and some not in the manner that the car was originally designed to handle. Overall great car that children from ages 3 - 10 will enjoy.

Kids favorite - Classic - American Made

I'd like to give it a five star rating but I believe there is always room for improvement. The kids love it. It is always outside and a favorite of the neighborhood children. I bought it because it is MADE IN THE USA. I sprayed the pivot joint and all the moving parts with lubricant so it moves faster and does not squeek. The kids wore the front tires out in about 9 months but customer service was great and the tires were under warranty. I think I will try to glue or rivit a bicycle inner tube to the wheels to add traction and longevity. I would like to see an optional flag and pole to help cars see the toy and increase safety.

My 4 year old loves it
By SethVerified Reviewer from Phoenix AZ on 8/25/2008
Pros:
Fun, Stability
Cons:
Difficult To Assemble, Plastic axle bushings
Best Uses:
Older Children, Outdoors
Describe Yourself:
Parent Of Two Or More Children
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My average-build 2 year old received this as a gift from family. He really isn't big enough yet and the car is probably better suited for 3+... so my above-average build 4 year old now thinks it's his. He loves it and his build is perfect for the second seat position which means both kids can use it for years to come with the 3 positions. Our only hick-up (other than the assembly wasn't smooth, but we made it) has been the front axle bushings stripped within the first 2 months. Kudos to Step2 for replacing them without question. My recommendation would be that the bushings be made of metal since the pedal axle is metal. With the amount of use this toy gets, the stop and go of pedaling... plastic bushings just don't cut it. But, regardless, if you have a kid who thinks he's the next Kyle Busch or Dale Earnhardt Jr., this is a great ride for him. It's incredibly stable. If the bushings were made of a more durable material, this is a 5 star product (even with the difficult assembly -- the most fun things in life aren't always easy).

I ordered via the Internet, assembled it Christmas Eve, and one of the parts was missing. Bummer, son - Santa's elves screwed up.

When the part arrived by mail, the car worked great and my son loves it. It's the only vehicle he takes on walks now.

We've had the car for 6 months and the front tires have holes in them. I'll be checking to see if replacements are offered.

i have 2 boys an almost 3 & 4 year old that both LOVE this toy. we have a large deck with every ride on imaginable including a john deer gator and this toy beats them all hands down. during play dates it is on a running timer so everyone can get a turn. as a mom what i like about it so much is that it is almost impossible to tip over although it had been done a time or two. i would recommend this toy to anyone.

This is a great little car and everyone who tries it loves it. We are going to have to modify the front wheels, however, as they slip horribly :( My 2 year old rides on the back as his brother (5 years) pedals and drives. They are having a great time with this car!

We gave this to our oldest son - 3 1/2 yrs old at the time- for Christmas in 2007. He has enjoyed driving it outside EVERY DAY that he plays! The tires have worn out. This year he is 4 and I want him to ride his bicycle more often so I can take the training wheels off his bike - that is the only reason I am not buying another one of these cars!!! I highly recommend this car. I have never written a product review - but this was hands down the best Christmas present!!

Pros:

Best Uses:
Outdoors
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Generally speaking we like the car. However, there are some drawbacks. It is taking a while for our 4 year old daughter to master the steering. And the tires slip on the pavement occassionally.
The most disappointing thing was the missing parts. We ordered it via internet as a present for our daughter and were so excited when it arrived the day before her birthday. Only later that night when we assembled it did we find out there were missing parts. The caps to keep the wheels on the axels were omitted. We were VERY upset that we could not give it to her on her birthday as we had planned.

A little harder to assemble than thought
By seckzthingVerified Purchaser from Hillsborough, NJ on 11/13/2007
Pros:
Fun, Worth it for the money
Cons:
Difficult To Assemble
Best Uses:
Older Children, Outdoors
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent, Stay At Home Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The steering feature on this car may be a little hard for a younger child to get used to since you're steering with your feet as well as your hands. The screws were hard to tighten on the wheels when assembling this. But, that said, for the money, this is a very good pedal car. Most pedal cars are significantly more expensive. So for the frustration that you feel during assembly, it's worth it in the end.

I took and cut 2 pieces of and old rubber car innertube(easily found at your local garage) and stretched them over the front wheel after applying some glue to them. This gives the car the excellent traction it needs!

We have two of these cars and they are by far the favorite thing for our kids to play with! In addition, we have 5 nieghbors who have also purchased them. I have seen other reviews mentioning the tires wear out.....you can buy replacement tires reasonably. We are on our 3rd set.One recommendation. [...] needs to sell multiple sticker sets to allow kids to personalize the cars. Our kids decorate with their own stickers, they are very cool.

This car has served my son for three years and he still chooses it everytime he goes to the garage to get toys out. He plays policeman with it and bad guy with it he absolutly loves it. Front tire has actually WORN out from his speedy starts and sudedden stops. Tires are a hard plastic not a rubber material which would give more to traction in grass and help wear but he does fine anyways. (Makes him work a little harder).

No traction so the tires slip constantly
By Me from Sea Cliff, NY on 6/8/2007
Pros:
Does Not Break, Easy To Assemble, Fun, Safe
Cons:
The Tires slip constantly
Best Uses:
Outdoors
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The car is cute and easy to assemble, but the tires slip constantly both indoors and on the driveway. My 3 year old son pedals it and the tires only turn about once for every 3 times he pedals because of the slippery plastic tires. I don't know why the front tires are not made of rubber, or at least covered with some material to provide a little traction.

My two grandchildren, Chase, age 3 and Nathen age 5 have really enjoyed the pedal car. This is the second time I have purchased the cars (one apiece) because there is not a day that passes that they are not sitting and driving their car. They wore the tires complete through on the last cars. A great investment and one that I will continue to do until they are too old to drive.

Ordered two of the pedal cars for my son and my nephew, both 4 yrs old. Both my sister and I believe that the wheels will wear out from the "speedy braking" habits of our boys. Both boys love the cars and I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
