Great Idea, Disappointing Performance

I have twin girls who are 28 months and a boy who is almost 4. We looked forward to getting this racer for our daughters because they love the other power vehicles that we have. While the design of this racer is unique and interesting for the kids, I am disappointed in how it performs on grass. (I haven't tried other surfaces.) When my daugher gets on it and depresses the pedal, the back tires spin and don't get traction even though we are using it on short, dry grass. When I called Step2, they offered no solutions others than to say about 5 times "We can't imagine why that is happening. We've never heard of it before." Well, they need to read other reviews. To pay [$] for something and not have it work well is frustrating. My child is almost 40 pounds and uses the vehicle correctly. It is disappointing that I need to help her get started by nudging the vehicle from the back so she can enjoy the ride. It sort of defeats the purpose of having the battery and she doesn't feel like a big girl when she can't do it on her own. When she does ride it, she enjoys it.

Can't get her off it !

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Although our 3 year old grandaughter was scared to ride it for months, we now cannot get her off it until the battery dies. Has no reverse but she hops off, turns it around, and goes back and forth for hours across room and down hallway. Will not ride on grass or smooth surfaces dues to traction issues. Rides well on level carpet or concrete. A charge goes a long way...

My daughter loved this bike. We love step2 products! BUT, were so disappointed by the quality of this bike. The back tire wore out and split in half in one summer. Is there any warrenty?

The drive tire spins to gain traction even on a level surface. The drive tire wore out very quickly and split in two pieces. I have had to replce this rear tire twice.

Samara just opened this toy 3 days ago for her birthday. The only complaint I have is that it has no break and on a slope can be difficult to stop and it has no reverse...which I didn't relize before buying it. It also goes out on overload when pulling her (20 lbs. below the limit) up any incline. It does go fast and she really enjoys it. It seems safe so I'm happy overall and for the price it is a winner. You should just be aware of the above issues when buying.

Very cute but not functional. Very bad traction!
