I bought two swings, one for my house and one for my granddaughter to use at hers. Since she was almost to the end of the age for this swing, I wasn't sure how much use she would get out of it. She's almost be ready for the other type swing on her swing set, but not quite. We put her swing here very low , she gets in, buckles herself (we check to see it is secure) and moves to get the swing going on her own. (she does need our help to get unbuckled)

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

The swing is great. The only complaint I have is that the shoulder straps seem to cut into my daughters neck when she swings... she doesnt seem to complain about it but she will have marks after I get her out. So I just dont use the shoulder straps... I just strap her in around the waist. So other than some needed padding on the shoulder straps. I Love It and so does she.

We purchased this swing to go along w/ the Step2 swing set we purchased. Its wonderful and our son loves it. I picked this swing because our son was scared by the baby swings at the park where his legs hung out. I thought this would be perfect because he's sitting and not hanging. He loves it and cries when its time to go in. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a swing for their little ones. :)

BOUGHT THIS FOR OUR GRANDDAUGHTER - 1 YEAR OLD. SHE LOVES TO SWING. OUR SON DID NOT HAVE TOO MUCH TROUBLE PUTTING IT TOGETHER. [...] BRAELIN IS HAVING A GREAT TIME IN HER YARD WITH HER VERY OWN SWING SET. THE TODDLER SWING WITH HARNESS WAS EXTRA BUT WORTH IT. THE ONLY THING I WOULD CHANGE JUST A LITTLE IS THE STEEPNESS OF THE SLIDE FOR THIS AGE. HOWEVER, IN ANOTHER YEAR, IT WILL BE PERFECT FOR HER, I SUPPOSE. GREAT PRODUCT. THANKS.

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

My girls love this swing - they're not big enough for a belt swing, & b/c they're strapped in, they can swing higher. One drawback is that the straps aren't quite long enough for regular size toddlers. Also, I find I have to stop & restart pushing the kids more often than I'd like b/c the swing starts wobbling & swinging crooked after a couple of minutes.

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

This is a well constructed, easy to use swing. Only gripe is that it's a bit smaller than I expected--my 2yr old barely fits in it, whereas she fits comfortably in other infant/toddler swings I've seen. Regardless, it's a very nice swing.

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

We bought this toddler swing to use on the Naturally Playful Playhouse Climber & Swing Extension. Our 18 month old son lacks the coordination for a regular swing and this one is perfect for him until he is able to hang on like a "big boy". I don't like how the ropes are fed through the seat because you have to be sure that the chair is perfectly centered or your child will tilt to the side and swing crooked. Other than that, it's a nice swing.

I ordered this swing for my 18 months old when we purchased the large swing set from Step2... except after seeing her big sister on a regular swing, my little one did not want to be in the baby swing and is doing well in the 'big girl' swing. Otherwise, looks like a great product.

We have this attached to our tree. Unfortunately the strongest limb is on an angle so ours hangs by both ropes in one knot. (Thank goodness daddy's ex-military and can tie crazy knots.) But with it attached like this it can also swing in circles which totally puts our 1 yr old to sleep. Our 3 year old loves the swing too and is still plenty small enough to fit.

The product seems to provide a safe way for young children to have fun on a swing. They have tried others where my children have had to hold onto the ropes, otherwise they would fall forward and possibly out of the swing. They do, however, seem a bit couped up and tend to slide down so that they end up in a slumped position after a while of swinging.

We use this product daily. It's great for our 13 month old and our almost 3 year old likes to use it too. It is sturdy, allowing the child to be safe and withstand harsh weather. I do wish it wasn't tilted ever so slightly, which sometimes makes it uncomfortable when putting the toddler in. I also wish the strings on it were a little longer. Good product, good price!

The Safest Toddler Swing I've Tried
By Toddler MomVerified Purchaser from Maryland on 5/20/2008
Pros:

Cons:
Rider discomfort
Best Uses:
Backyard, Daycare, Young Children
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

This toddler swing is extremely safe. The five point harness is adjustable and tightens to fit my petite 22 month old. The only point that is not-so-great is that the child may need to be repositioned after a few swings as the swing is pitched forward slightly and tends to slide the rider forward into the between leg strap which can be uncomfortable. Regardless, I remain impressed with Step2 products for the level of quality for the price.

By LoisVerified Purchaser from Brewster, NY on 5/13/2008
Pros:

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

We purchased 2 swings to use with the Naturally Playful® Adventure Lodge Play Center with Glider also purchased from step2 for our nearly 17-month old twins. They are somewhat small for their age and the swings are already threatening to be outgrown within a month or so. This is a very safe design with the 5-pt harness system and high back....just can't imagine any 'standard' sized child using it much past 12 months or so. My son is 23 pounds and not very tall and is already pushing the straps to their max. My daughter is nearly 20 pounds and the shoulder straps are fully extended...just barely loose enough for her to fit comfortably. So, for smaller children these are great. I'm now on a search for a swing that will carry them through readiness for the regular swing included in the play set.

Don't expect to use for long

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

Purchased 2 toddler swings to use with Naturally Playful® Adventure Lodge Play Center with Glider. My twins are almost 17 months old and fairly small for their age...even so, my son who is 23 pounds has a tight fit even with the straps fully loosened. My daughter who is nearing 20 pounds fits a bit better in width, but the shoulder straps are already a bit tight. If you have a very young toddler, the seat is great with a 5-point harness and high back. I'm now searching for a swing that will work for them until they're ready to use the standard child swings that came with the play center.

This swing is very sturdy and has gotten much use from my 3 granddaughters. However, although my girls are average size, the seat-belt is too small. It needs to be enlarged in order to go to age 3.

Very good design, glad it wasn't just a buket swing. The back/head support is good for younger children, and I love that it cannot fall forward when you are getting children in and out.

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

I have a 2 month old son who weighs 8lbs. (He only weighed 3lbs at birth!) He LOVES to be outside. I took him outside and sat in my daughter's swing on her swingset with him in my lap, and he loved it. I realized that I needed to find some kind of swing for him. I researched every single baby/todler swing that I could find. Most of them looked like they would be very unsafe for an 8lb baby. (Especially since they all say they're for 9 months and up!) When I saw this swing, it caught my eye because of the 5 point harness. I still thought that it would be too big for him though. I decided to buy it anyways and give it a try. When the swing came in, I immediately put in on my daughter's swingset and put my son in it. The harness fit perfect. It adjusts just perfect for my 8lb baby. The buckle is firm and that secures my thoughts about my son not being able to unbuckle it when he gets older. The ropes are the perfect length, too. The swing hangs just above my daughter's regular swing on her swingset. I can sit in her swing and push my son easily. I am very pleased with this swing in all aspects. I strongly recommend this swing for anybody who has a small baby that loves the outdoors. Don't be fooled by the age recommendation of 9 months and up. A newborn can use this swing safely. I'm sure that we'll be able to use this swing for months/years to come! Nothing about this swing upsets me. It's PERFECT!!!

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

My babies have loved this swing (even fallen asleep in it!). It is sturdy and I like the open design- no stuck feet! However, the buckles are very stiff and I've pinched my fingers badly more than once. Finally, I am sorry to say we will be getting rid of the swing this year (after 3 summers) because the ropes have dried out and produce very nasty splinters and small cuts on small and large hands alike. I wish we could replace the ropes, but I fear it wouldn't be worth the effort on a [$] swing.

Easy Assembly, Fun, Sturdy
Best Uses:
Backyard, Young Children

Bottom Line:

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

This swing is ok. Nothing to get excited about. I like the bucket ones at the park better. The clasp is very tight right now, but I bet it will get easier with use. It is hard for one person to get a toddler in the swing because it swings back. My husband has to hold it steady while I put him in. I wish it was more a drop down into design. Once he is in it is great!

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

We bought this to use with the Naturally Playful® Playhouse Climber & Swing Extension. It goes perfectly with the swing set, and because our daughter isn't ready for the swings that came with the set, this was just what she needed. I feel very safe when I strap her in, and she could sit and swing in it for hours if we let her. We've had it almost a year, and it still looks exactly the same as it did when we pulled it out of the box.

I have three kids under 3 and they love this.
We bought the set so they could play in our yard. I wish it came with the set since the set was very expensive but this swing is a must have for younger children. When my boys want to swing this is a very safe place for them. And it was EASY to put up!
I live in a typhoon prone area and it's perfect for the rough weather. It can stand up to the rain and not get messed up like metal products.

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

I got this swing on a recommendation from my 2 1/2 yr. old son's physical therapist. He has moderate-severe CP and we could NOT find an appropriate swing that was supportive enough for him. This is the swing for him! I am SO glad we found it! The 5 point harness is PERFECT and it even reclines a bit to help support him! Very easy to put up! Sammy LOVES it and so do I! :) I recommend this swing to any parent of a special needs child!

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

I have 15 month old twin girls who love this swing. We bought two and love them. We have a big playscape that they can't use yet but at least we were able to hook up the swings to it. They began using it when they were 8 months old and I know they will be able to fit in them for a while. The price is right and we wouldn't be able to live with out these swings. The only con is it did fade a little as we get a lot of sun in our backyard and have harsh winters in CT.

Comments about Step2 Toddler Swing:

A number of neighbors have this toddler swing so we felt at ease when purchasing. No problems the first year of use. In year two the ropes are breaking down and are shedding small plastic splinters when touched. We cannot use the swing without a replacement of the ropes, which is not easy as the clamps used in assembly at the factory cannot be reused.

Step2 Response: Please contact the Step2 Company for help with replacing the ropes. (1-800-347-8372)
