My 18 month old grandson only had to be shown once how to put or feed the croc the letters into his mouth and he can open the stomach to get them out. The placing of the letters into the slot to make them "sing" is tough for him at this age, so he needs help getting them to sit correctly. The volume and clarity of the tunes could use some improvement. This item is cute to look at, but there are other toys that are easier for little hands to use. I think I enjoy the "hum hum" sounds more than my grandson. He just liked putting stuff in the crocs mouth.

I thought this would be fun for my little girl. She is 20 months old and enjoys music, putting things in and taken them out, and we have been practicing our alphabet. This seemed like a perfect toy to cover all of those. She loves to listen to it sing when the alphabet tabs are put in the alligators mouth and enjoys closing the mouth to make it eat the letters. The letters are a bit tough to get into the mouth just right to make it work, but gets easier once you get the hang of it. The biggest issue is the stomach opening is extremely hard to open and she's not able to get the letters out. She's pretty much given up out of frustration and makes me do it every time.
