We bought the set for our daughter in Dec 08, before she turned two. It was a easy transition for her. She calls it her princess castle bed. She is now three and we are going to be removing the crib mattress for a twin. The bed is plastic but it is so stable and easy to clean. We have not had any problems. My daughter loves her bed. I would recommend this bed.

We bought this bed for my younger daughter, and both girls (3 and (almost)5) adore it. My husband describes the set up as "not too horrendous" and felt attaching the side rails was the most challenging as there is no guide. We did have to buy a step up stool for my tiny little 3 year old, but she seems to be coping well. She hasn't fallen out either, though the "rails" aren't much of a barrier to that. It's just adorable, and hasn't collapsed when I've laid down with her for a few hours - and I'm not a lightweight. It has also stood up to big sister's acrobatics without collapsing. Would definitely buy this again. Pricey, but worth the cost.

We bought this bed for our daughter for her 2nd birthday and she loves it! Set up was easy, I would reccomend using a powered screwdriver instead of a hand turn type of one though. We are limited on space so the fact that the twin conversion part stores under the toddler part of this bed is wonderful! This bed was the perfect transition from crib to a big girl bed, and we expect to get many years of use out of this bed. Crayons and markers wipe of easily and it is lightweight enough for one person to move by themself. The side rails sit up high enough our daughter has never fallen out of bed and they are sturdy and wide enough for me to sit on them at bedtime and read a story. Wonderful idea step 2 to make this convert to twin size so you can really get full use out of this bed for the price. We have never used a nightlight in her room so the one that came with the bed was never installed, so I don't have any comments on the light portion. The stickers have held up well and the top of the castle part allows for yet another storage area for her stuffed friends. Great product!

we bought this bed for our daughter when she turned one. until she got comfortable with the bed we added a safety rail to both sides, but now at 2 she doesn't use them any more. we bought our bed second hand and it was still very durable. we have moved twice, and assembled and unassembled more than that and the bed still holds up just fine! we will be switching to the twin size soon and expect no problems there. this bed has been wonderful and my daughter just loves it. a real win for everyone!

I have three girls, all of which are pretty in pink princesses. Though my oldest was too old for this bed, I bought two for my younger girls, and am in love with the fact that it will grow with them from toddler to twin, and be of use for years to come. They like feeling majestic, and it is great because with the ability to support up to 300 lbs, mommy can snuggle in during story time too!

I new when I saw this bed it was going to be the best thing for my 2 year old daughter. It was time to move her into her own room and boy did she LOVE it,from the first time she saw it, it was a breeze getting her to bed even on her very first night on her own. The really good thing about this bed you dont have to worry about them falling out of it, and make sure you have plenty of space it's BIG! It's very easy to clean, and most of all you and your princess will love it.

we used additional screws to secure all pieces and placed a large piece of plywood under matress for more stability and (bouncing children)- we have loved it. honestly my 3 & 4 year old often sleep with me in it, the base adds extra room feels like a queen unit. we've had it two years and is still brand new. great item.

I have had 2 of these beds for 7 years and they are still going strong and holding up...started with the toddler and then went to a twin. Both of my girls LOVE them, had had TONS of fun on it and even though they have jumped on it...the has not fallen apart. Both of my daughters have this bed and we did have the problem of the boards slipping but my husband just screwed them into place.We never used them as todler beds just as standard size.They both jump up and down on them and I find they are very sturdy.And yes they just wipe clean easily.All their friends are jealous and want one as well.

While it did take both my husband and myself to put the bed together, it wasn't too difficult. We love this bed and so does my daughter, who is obsessed with princesses. It is very sturdy, we've had not problems with the boards that support the mattress (we set it up per the instructions). It has taken a beating and still looks brand new, crayons wipe right off! The only small complaint is with the nightlight. It is a pain to change the batteries, which must be done often as my 4 year-old loves to use it. I wish it had and ac adapter to come with it, or recommended one to use. It looks like it has a jack for it, but no info about it. Other than that, it's perfect!

I purchased this bed for my daughter, who is 26 months old. Her room is done in a Princess (not Disney) theme - and I felt this bed would fit in well with the decor. I set it up by myself in about an hour. The assembly was not difficult and the instructions were simple to follow (although I do recommend using an electric screwdriver for the long screws). My daughter just smiled and smiled when she saw it, and loves going to bed in her big girl bed. Her room is average size, so the flip desk is an efficient use of space. I am using it in the toddler bed setup now, but I am very happy to have the option to convert it to use a twin mattress as she gets older. This bed will last her at least 4 years, if not longer. Kudos to Step 2 for offering such a product that is easy to setup/maintain, stylish, and imaginative!

I couldn't believe the review that this bed was unstable. My daughter had this bed for 4 years (we didn't convert to the twin) and absolutely loved it. It was very sturdy, took lots of abuse, and still looked brand new when we took it down. Perhaps it is because we used a drill and laid a board over the three wooden slats that were provided? I would never describe this bed as unsturdy. One thing I loved about it, when she was two years old, was that the sides where slightly raised to create a little "bump" to warn her when she was too close to the edge. She never rolled out of this bed at night. It is the perfect little girl dream bed, and you feel nice and snug and closed in when pushed against a wall with the tall head and footboards. I would recommend it to anyone.

We bought this for our daughter when she was still an infant because we just knew this was perfect for her. We finally transitioned her at 2.5 yrs old when we moved to our new house... straight from the crib to this bed she slept soundly the first night!! We added a canopy netting hanging from the ceiling and her whole room is princess themed. It goes perfect. Most of all I love the design. It was easy to put together and strong enough for an adult to lay on if necessary for those middle of the night cries. The only thing is I do not recommend an adult stands on the edges or anywhere on this bed... because the plastic will crack in the weaker spots. Laying down seems fine but not standing. However my daughter is now 6 and she jumps up and down on it and it's still as sturdy as the day we put it together!!! Now we unfortunately can't convert it to a twin because her bedroom is too small to fit the longer bed length, but if we could we would definitely use this until at least 10 years old. So as we are transitioning to a daybed setup, we must sell this wonderful beautiful princess bed... I'm listing it on [...] today and will be sad to get rid of it.

Wow, I have read some of these comments and am stunned at some of the issues!

We bought this bed for out 2 1/2 year old. She absolutely loves it, but what little girl wouldn't.

We have had no problems with it in toddler bed form or twin bed form, which we have recently converted to. The bed is sturdy and heavy! My Chloe has jumped on the bed MANY times with no problems of falling apart or the boards slipping.

The extra bonus.... while using the draw bridge to color in her books she put marker all over the end of the bed. Guess what? Came right of the very next day (when I found it) without a problem, just wipes off because of the material the bed is made out of.

This bed is worth every penny spent!

And Yes the Light Stopped working within2 weeks could just be the Battery. The main problem I have with the bed is after assembling itand using it for a few days it falls apart and has to be assembled again, The plastic pieces don't snap together and stay, and the bunkie board is 3 pieces not 1 large piece, so all the pieces slide with the matteress and the bed comes apart. Which is very dangerous when you're sleeping on it and it falls apart. Since I already have the bed I'm thinking about ordering a 1 piece bunkie board which cost an additional [$][...]. This is the only way I can probably keep the bed togetherbecause the 3 boards do not stay together, If I find a way to fix this problem I'll post another message. but for now on a 1 to 5 star rating the bed would only receive 4 stars from me. It gets 4 stars because my daughter loves it. butfor something this expensive I'm disappointedand may have to buy another Bed in the near future, Something more sturdy.

I bought this bed for my daughter when she turned 3. We went straight to twin bed since she is tall for her age. The assembly was easier than I expected. My daughter loves the spaces for dolls on headboard, nightlight, and table. Not only does my daughter love the bed, but so does our cat! We have had a few rough nights where I have had to get into bed with her to get her to fall asleep, but mommy was so comfortable, I fell asleep first! I would and have recommended this bed to friends and family.

We got one for each of our two girls and set up one as the twin size and other as the toddler size. Both set-ups were fast and easy and the girls love their new beds. Got this for my daughter for Christmas, ordered early, it arrived much faster than estimated. Box is big, but no pictures on it, so able to keep it in box in garage without spoiling daughter's surprise. My husband put the bed together single-handedly on Christmas Eve in less than two hours. Assembly was very quiet, we didn't have to worry about waking the kids. No sharp edges or uneven seams (a problem we've had with the car bed another company makes). Very sturdy, I feel comfortable sitting on the side of the bed to read bedtime stories. Colors are very complimentary to each other and perfect for a princess themed room without being overwhelmingly girly. It is quite a bit larger than a regular toddler bed, my daughter felt like she was upgrading to a big girl bed, even though it was still using her crib/toddler bed mattress. We loved that everything to convert it to a twin bed was included in the purchase price and that it all stores under the toddler sized bed until you are ready to use them. My daughter LOVES the night light, but I wish it used A/C power instead of batteries.

At 14 months, our daughter was already trying to climb out of her crib, so we purchased this bed. As the crib mattress sits down in the frame, it prevents her from rolling out. And if she does want to climb out in the middle of the night, the bed is low enough to our tile floor to prevent injury. The plastic has a smooth feel and there are no rough or sharp corners, so we also don't have to worry about our child hurting herself on the bed.

We got this bed for our little girl at age 14 months. She didn't seem to sleep well in her crib anymore, so we tried this bed because it is low to the floor and did not need a box springs. My daughter saw this bed on line when we were discussing the bed to buy my youngest son. She fell in love with it and since I am an avid purchaser of STEP2 products we decided to give it a try. I bought this bed based on the reviews and because I wanted a safe bed with no sharp edges. I have no regrets. It is fantastic. My daughter (2) loves it and sleeps in it all night. The best "feature" of this bed is the wide rails, which allow a body pillow to be placed next to the wall without taking up any mattress space. No more midnight wake-ups caused by hitting the wall. The wide rail on the other side lets her know where the edge of the bed is, so she has not fallen off. And it's slightly lower than other beds so she can easily climb in and out. I use the twin version (the extensions are included for twin configuration) and it was relatively easy to put together but I could not do it without a drill. For those with plastic guilt, I note that the entire thing can be recycled, but that would probably never happen as people would unquestionably want this bed as a hand-me-down. [...]

My daughters crib fell apart when she was 18 months old (after 3 kids) although I was VERY reluctant to purchase a "big girl bed" I didn't see the point of buying another crib for 6 months or so. I bought this for my toddler when she was about 2 months shy of turning 2. The minute I assembled the bed, she jumped in and played on it all day. It's been almost 2 years since then, and we've moved THREE times (across several states each time!) and the bed continually holds up to disassembly and reassembly.

Now she's in the twin version, and the bed is as comfortable and fun as ever. This was a GREAT buy--and I had not one of the problems other friends had when they transitioned from crib to toddler bed, nor any problems toddler bed to twin. I'd buy it again all over (and am now, in fact, planning to get the car bed for my son next year).

My only complaint is the one about the boards that support the mattress. They simply lay on top of the plastic ledges in the frame, and you cannot secure them (which lends itself to falling out of place every few weeks). I think the boards also could be a touch longer, so that they wouldn't fall out as they do. It's a VERY small complaint, and one board falling out does NOT make the mattress fall out (since two other boards remain in place). It's simply an inconvenience.
