It has been the easiest way to transition my son from his toddler bed to a "big boy" bed. When I say it's time for bed, he grabs his monkey and crawls right in. I sing him one song and he is off to lullaby land. He loves that it looks like a race car. It is a little difficult to make the bed, because the mattress fits so well, but at least I know that the sheets are not going to creep up. As long as my son loves it, so do I!!

I do love the car bed 3 piece set but it is extremely difficult to change the bed linen. I dread this job so much, I will end up purchasing a new bed set for my 3 year old son very soon. The bed is so low to the floor that changing the sheets require brut strength. The mattress fits completely in a box. I have broken finger nails trying to perform this task (changing the sheet).

we bought this bed for our 14 month old son and he just loves it. He has had no problem sleeping in it. His 2.5 yr old sister loves it just as much as he does and they both spend alot of time playing in it. Putting it together was a no brainer, very sturdy and gives his imagination more to do.

This is a great bed, I bought it for my son over a year ago and it still looks good and is very sturdy. We have a toddler mattress so the sides are higher. My son who had a hard time switching from a crib to a toddler bed easily switched to this bed due to the higher sides making him feel safe. My son loves to play with his cars on the built in racetrack at the foot of the bed and the side area (between the mattress and rails) is perfect for sitting a sippy cup with water at night, as well as stuffed animals, flashlights or other toys. The only issues I have with the bed are that it is hard to make the bed, as the sheets and blankets do not tuck well into the sides (it is do-able though) and that the boards that the mattress sits on are impossible to remove accept for sliding after the bed is put together so it makes it hard to clean if there is a spill or snacks fall down the sides. Other than those 2 things, it is a wonderful bed and I will be buying another for my younger son who now wants one just like his big brother.

When my little boy decided he could climb out of the crib, I knew it was time to get him a big boy bed. I couldn't have done any better, this is the perfect way to transition! Not only is it a good, sturdy, and safe bed for him, he also feels like he's getting a cool new toy which is plenty of incentive to keep him in it. The best feature as a parent is that it transitions not only to a toddler bed, but also to a twin. My son is 2 1/2, and I know this bed will be with us for a good long time!

The bed was a little bigger than I thought it would be but with the crib mattress in there he is secure. The mattress is deep and the sides are high so there is no chance of him falling out. We bought this for our son when he was 15 months old. He loved it and when he decided he wanted bunkbeds, our daughter used the race car. This bed has endured lots of child roughness and it has held tough. Even the stickers still look good as new because the kids were not able to get them off.

Love this bed! My 2 1/2 yr old refused to sleep in his convertible crib once we made it into the daybed. We would find him in the hallway on the floor, our bedroom floor, everywhere but the bed! After weeks of this floor sleeping I bought the car bed and he has slept in it ever since! He plays cars on the track before he goes to sleep and the sides of the bed have plenty of room for his stuffed animals and such. Nothing negative to report here!

My son (at 14 months old) had to be converted to a toddler bed early. he was a chewer and ruined his crib. so we decided to get him a toddler bed to see how it went. it went GREAT he has loved it no problems sleeping in it. he goes to the end of the bed and climbs right in it at bed time. I can't wait till our daughter convert to a toddler bed we are def. purchasing the girl version.

This a great little bed for a young child. It makes nap time and bed time a fun adventure. Easy for young children to get in and out of because it's not too high. My only complaint is that I think it should have had a little bit better support system for the mattress. Once the bed is screwed together it's OK. All in all though I think it's a great starter bed for a child that has outgrown the crib. My grandson just loves it!

We were able to use this bed for a child with developmemtal challenges. Before we bought the bed we were unable to get the child transitioned to a regular bed. He was so excited about his CAR bed that the transiition was without incident.

My mother-in-law and father-in-law purchased this bed for our son last fall. He's used it since he was 20 months old. He absolutely loves it! It took him a while to adjust to being in a "big boy" bed from his pack-n-play that he was using (because he had climbed out of his crib at 15 months & the pack-n-play was much deeper/therefore safer). But, he's been using it for 2 months now & absolutely loves it. We use it as a toddler bed for now, because as a twin bed it pretty much loses the toddler rail feature. And, it looks nice without all of the decals on it (we need to put a few basics on it yet). We figure that we'll let him pick what he wants on it when he gets a bit older. I didn't like how cluttered it looked with the stickers in the picture.

The only con that I can think of is that when it's used as a toddler bed, there is a space all the way around it of the hard plastic bed that is a few inches shorter than the mattress lays. But, we just took 2 twin sized comforters and bunched them up around the mattress & when the bed is made, it looks fine (you can see what I mean in the picture). That way, our son doesn't wake up in the morning on the cold plastic space between. We knew this when we purchased it based on other reviews & still thought it was worth getting.

I'm sure our son will enjoy this bed for many many years! Thanks for making such a wonderful product for my son, Step 2!

I bought this bed over 2 years ago. I have not had any problems with it yet. I am seriously considering buying another one for my younger son when is just comming out of a crib bed. My oldest son is 5 and he IS definatly hard on beds. IE: He has broke our bed 2x from jumping on it! He does the same with his and there are still no problems with it! It really is a great bed for the price and I would reccommend it to any one! Furthermore being Military we move a lot. The set-up and tear down IS simple and one less headache when moving.

I have bought a lot of Step2 products, and think that on the whole they are well thought out in terms of construction and design. I would give this car top marks for construction, but not for design. Here's why:
- as a parent of toddlers, I like to be able to lean over them in bed to tuck them in. Unfortunately the design of the car doesnt leave any ground clearance, so you are not able to easily stand flush with the side of the bed. I keep banging my toes on the side of the bed!!
- I bought the racing car bed to use with a twin mattress (as opposed to a crib mattress). I wasn't unable to buy a "good" mattress that was less than 9" deep. This meant that the mattress was flush with the top of the bed, so that the built in "safety rail" that is in the shape of the doors/windows of the car has no effect. As such, I have had to buy a seperate safety rail to use along with the bed.
This would not stop me from recommending it to others.

This bed we used for a toddler bed. We put our little boy straight from crib to this bed. We used regular mattress on it, so we didn't need to buy a toddler bed.This was it. He is now 5 and still loving it.The raised side work great for them not falling out of bed. So we didn't have to buy safety boards. It was built into this bed.We all win.

My mother in law had to get this bed for our first little boy. I never would have paid this much for a toddler bed but since it holds a twin mattress she figured he would use it for a while. SHe was right! My son loves this bed! What little boy doesn't dream of having a race car bed!? This one is top of the line and my second son is getting the same one this weekend for his birthday because he loves his brother's so much! This bed ROCKS!

I spent more time keeping my grandson off of this bed while I finished putting it together then I did putting it together. We've put matchbox cars on the racing circuit and dotted the 'edges' with other toys which keeps him quite busy. I would definetly recommend this to anyone.

I was surprised at how few pieces there were to this bed and how easy it was to put together. The hardest part of the job was keeping my grandson off of it while it was assembled. We bought the complete set and couldn't be happier. All the pieces are sturdy and very nice to look at. The additonial dresser and toy chest came almost completely assembled so the room was operational in just a few hours. The bed is bigger then I had expected but when it is all made up looks quite nice. My grandson (3) has spent 2 days in his room playing and laying around on his new bed and is delighted with it. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We bought the race car bed along with the tool chest dresser and 2 toy boxes. The set looks fantastic. it was pretty easy to put together - te most consuming thing was putting on the stickers. We thought that this new bedroom set would be incentive to have our son move from the crib to a big boy bed. We tried a smaller, plain white toddler bed before this car bed with absolutely no luck. The high sides make him feel safe and the design is really fun for him. I like that it accommodates both the toddler mattress as well as a twin mattress too - you can use the set for much longer! The set is pretty durable too - we're a military family and have moved across country and the bed didn't crack or bend (like I was afraid that it might). Overall I would recommend the complete set for any boy who loves cars! It's so much fun and he loves jumping into bed at night!

I bought this bed for my son's 2nd birthday after alot of research. I looked into buying the Lightning McQueen bed for about $200 since my son's room is Cars themed, but then I saw this bed and loved the fact that it will continue to be useful for a few more years unlike the other one that wasn't convertible. This Bed Rocks. My son loves it he used it since he was 9 mths old. He played for hours with the track and now he thinks he's Jeff Gordon. He loves the bed. I just don't like the loud hollow sound it makes when he kicks at night but at least I know when he climbs in and out. I truly love the Step two products. This bed is great. It grows with your child which allows you to get the most bang for your buck. With the cars theme I see my 22 month old son enjoying his bed for at least the next 4-5 years if not more. It was incredibly easy to assemble an[...] After my son climbed out of is crib for the first time I wanted a bed that was safe, comfortable, functional, and one that would last. It's great. My son loves the racetrack at the end and its easy for him to get in and out of without using a step stool. I love that I dont need to buy a whole new bed when he is alittle older. If you plan on using it for a child that may need side support once the twin mattress is placed, you might want to get a bedrail. My son just turned 3yrs and did fine. I started him with the crib mattress which left gaps on the side and thought it would be a problem but was he was just fine. I ordered a twin mattress a week later just because I thought it would be more comfortable with a new mattress. The mattress we got was a good quality pillowtop but keep in mind that the rails on the side are not high enough for side-support a child that may need it. Mine again did not need it.

My son loves his new bed. The style is great - very realistic. He plays with his little cars on the formed racetrack for hours everyday. The only downfall is sometimes the cars slip through the cracks in the bed and I need to dig them out for him - it would be nice if the whole front end was one piece. Too bad the racetrack will be concealed once he moves into a twin size bed. Would be a great accessory to have a base the race track would sit in once a twin bed replaces the toddler bed.

Things we love: It looks really great an awesome bed for boys who love cars. We LOVE the fact that it goes from toddler bed to twin bed. Lots of bang for the buck there. The decals that come with this set are really awesome. The "crib" mattress sits down into a well of sorts, so the sides of the car act as the safety rails and kiddo can't fall out of bed at night.

Things that could use improvement: When being assembled for toddler use, the support boards just overlap over one another, there is probably a better way to design that. One thing that would help immensely would be just a small hole at one end of each board so you could put a finger or 2 into it to slide the boards easier. As it stands now you kinda have to just hand slide it, which isn't as easy as it sounds really. Not a big deal or anything, but it would be nice. The other issue I don't care for too much is that the crib mattress is just about an inch or so higher that the well it rests in (standard crib matress nothing fancy) which means when he rolls around at night, he kinda slips off the mattress and ends up in the space between it and the car's side. I rolled up an extra blanket and laid it in the space, but it would have been nice if the mattress was flush with the surrounding plastic.

Other than those minor things, we really love it almost as much as our son =) We are big fans of things with multiple uses and this bed fits the bill!
