At first the MailMinder kept falling off when the mail carrier put mail in the box. (or he was knocking it off). The sticky was not strong enough to adhere to the plastic door. I used velcro on the MailMinder & on the mailbox door & it stays on great now. Will be easy to change the battery also. Love the loud tune it plays, but don't know what it is. It plays for several seconds, which is nice. Thanks for a cool product.

Installed in thin metal mailbox that (naturally) faces the street. With no other significant interference/shielding, the signal fails to get through to the receiver all too often (both of first two days and about 30% of the time, overall). The reset button does not silence the chime in progress -- a minor annoyance. When it works, it's great! Should be fine with a plastic mailbox.

Very happy with performance, but, I would make these suggestions to improve it:

Mold key to LED Flash Patterns into receiver (or add a label) so user will know differences (long after the paper instructions are gone).

Do same for battery requirements.

My rural mailbox is approximately 150 feet from the house. The MailMinder has saved me many trips to the mailbox to find the mail has not been delivered. My wife uses it to alert me to her arrival so I can meet her in the garage to help unload groceries, etc. We are very impressed and satisfied with this device.

I live in an all metal mobile home and that has not prevented the transmission of the alert of
my mail box door being opened.

Due to the possible roughness of the mail being placed in the mail box, I recommend reinforcing the (supplied)two side stick down tape to possibly be reinforced with a strong (quick drying) glue.

You need to remember to turn off the base unit after you pick up the mail -- otherwise the unit will be set off when you pick it up. A nice feature would be a time delay. You see the base unit was set off. You reset it -- and then it gives you 15 Minutes to get the mail so you don't have to reset it again.

Two issues. One was the little box that goes on your mailbox door had to be installed in the reverse of the arrows that are on the box. Also, I get lots of false postives including some in the middle of the night. I have since started resetting it only a few hours before the mail comes otherwise I will get a false alarm in the middle of the night.

This darling little mailbox signals you with a pleasant classical melody! The kids love to run to get the mail when they hear it - and that is really helpful! My husband appreciates knowing when the mailperson is here at our driveway, so he can wave at him or her to stop and take a package to be mailed. Our mail delivery time is so varied from day to day, so it is great to know when our mail has arrived so we don't leave it outside too long for possible theft.

A few times, we were happily surprised to hear the signal go off a second time in one day, when the mailperson made another swing down our street with a forgotten package for us found at the back of the mail truck! Without the Mail Minder, we wouldn't know to get it from the mailbox until the next day!

Our mail carrier told me she wishes all the elderly people on her route who have to cross busy streets to retrieve their mail could have these installed on their mail boxes. It is such an effort for them to go out to check for their mail, and they should only have to do this when it has actually arrived! Especially in cold, rainy weather or on the hottest desert days!

I have given this great Mail Minder device to several friends and relatives, and they, in turn, have bought more as gifts for others! My neighbor is an accountant who works at home, and I gave her one for Christmas! She really appreciates knowing exactly when her client's checks arrive in her mail box. And since we both get signaled to go outside just a few moments apart, we get to wave and see each other more often!

And, when we have been out for the day, we sometimes come home too tired to think of checking our mail box. But when we notice the red light flashing on the Mail Minder, which is hanging on the kitchen wall near the pantry, we realize the mail is still outside waiting for us.

Living in the suburbs our mail is delivered anywhere from 1 PM to 3:30 PM, so before purchasing the MailMinder we never knew when our mail was being delivered so we would hike down our 200-foot driveway one to three times daily to see if it was delivered. Now, when the mail carrier opens the mailbox, the alarm goes off and we only have to make one trip. While we don’t mind the exercise, we really appreciate having the MailMinder on snowy, blistery days. Works great! We have a plastic mailbox that is about 100 feet from the inside receiver. It even worked with the receiver inside a wooden seat under the bay window. When on low the chime is quite loud. I put some wax over the speaker and it is now perfect. I also reinforced the transmitter with some duck tape as it was applied in freezing temperatures. My neighbors have a much more expensive transmitter, but for a fifth of the price this one works just as well. I'm going to get one for my parents too.

The brochure stated that the MailMinder works best with plastic mailboxes and may not work with metal mailboxes. I have a metal mailbox and the MailMinder has alerted me every time when the mail arrives. It plays a pleasant chime sound but I wish it wouldn't play again when you retrieve your mail. I also like the secondary alert with the flashing light as I am not always home when the mail arrives and it is a quick way to check without having to go to the mailbox itself.

The only problem I have had is the adhesive tape included is not stickey enough. I had to use my own liquid adhesive that had no temperature restriction so the transmitter would stay mounted. Winter is the most beneficial time to have this tool.

This product has made my life easier and my very large dog happier. Had to restrict when he could go out if I was expecting a large package in the mail. This unit signals mail delivery by sensing movement of the mailbox door. My previous unit sensed light when the door was opened. This made useless in the winter when mail is often delivered after dark. Your unit also has excellent range despite being inside a heavy steel mailbox. The only complaint is that the tune it plays is annoying (very minor).

I finally ordered this product after I had been wanting one for quite a few months. My mailman never comes around the same time everyday... he delivers the mail anywhere between noon and 4pm. Rather than go back and forth to the mailbox a few times during the day (especially on rainy and cold or snowy days), this device signals when the mail has arrived. Part of it sticks on the door of the mailbox and the other part you keep inside. When the door of your mailbox is opened, it signals the device inside. The only con I can think of is the signal is really loud, even on the lowest setting... but this isn't really a big con because I can hear the signal even if I'm in the basement doing laundry. Overall a great item!!!

The Mail Minder is a most useful gadget. When the postman open the mailbox door, the receiver in the house plays a little tune until he closes the door. Then a red light blinks on the receiver until it is turned off. It saves me many useless steps, especially in inclement weather, to check the mail.

This product has saved me many wasted steps to the mail box to see if the mail came. One change I had to make, the double faced tape did not hold for long so instead of using more tape I cleaned both surfaces & glued the sender to the mail box door. Works great. One change would make this better, stops working when battery voltage drops to about 11.9 volts would be nicer if it would operate down to maybe 11.0 volts

The MailMinder is a great way to know when anyone is tampering with your mailbox. The price is so low that you wouldn't think it would work reliably. Not so. I've been using my original MailMinder for almost 2 years and the only thing I've had to do to it is change the batteries. The MailMinder is a very handy inexpensive device that lets you know when your mail is being delivered. No wasted steps to check to see if the mail was delivered, especially on rainy and snowy days. Alarm works great between our house and the mail box which is 145 feet away. Has a high/low sound switch, but no on/off switch so you don’t have to worry and wonder if it is turned on or off. Five Stars all the way.

Our condominium has mail boxes next to each other on a post. While my neighbors have this product, the transmitters do not conflict with each other. My "MailMinder" signals my receiver only and my neighbor's signal theirs. No Conflicts! This is excellent and demonstrates the quality of this product.

Great unit. My mail box is 140 ft. away so I know when mail has arrived.

The sticky tape when hot lets the unit on mail box door fall off, so I used double sided automotive tape from W-Mart to stick it on, never fell off any more.
sound is VERY LOUD even in low position, so I took a piece of tape & put over the grill to help lower the sounds.

My father died not long ago and he had a homemade flip-flag on the mail-box. He had the mail-box in a curve and too close to the road, and it kept getting hit by traffic. My mother was use to a signal when mail was in the box and I wanted to make her a unseen signal. The cost of this would have been close to [$] and the range would have been a gamble along with things that may block the signal. I ordered the MailMinder because of all the great feed-back and the price of the product. My mother's mail-box is metal and about 150ft. from her kitchen where she seems to spend most of her time. I bought this product for 2 reasons: First, for its intended use of letting us know when the mail is here (we have a 200-foot walk to mailbox), and, second, to allow my husband to signal me when he is returning from walking the dog twice a day so I don't have to sit and watch out the window. Sadie is in training and has always been on a leash. When they make the turn up the driveway after their walk, my husband will let her go and I will stand on the porch and clap my hands and call her so she can get a little running in. I have a Step2 plastic mailbox and bought the version specifically for this kind of mailbox- it is better than the universal model type because the transmitter is secured not only by double sticky tape but also set screws- very easy to install and transmitter cannot fall off! Original transmitter was defective (battery clips did not line up causing transmitter to not work when battery cover installed). Step2 promptly sent a replacement!!

After using double stick tape I did put some soft pliable putty around the unit to insure that it will stay in place (coax antenna seal). It really serves it's purpose well. I would only change two things about it. I would like to have a volume control for the chime because it's not extremely loud but I would like to be able to quieten it when the baby is sleeping. The other thing I would change is the blinking light... I would like it to blink more frequently stay solid. Sometimes I glance at it and don't see it blink because there is about 3-4 seconds between blinks.

I have had several different types of mail box alerts, none worked as reliably as this. Most were light activated, unlike these which are motion activated. And, about half the time the other types didn't even go off when the door was opened in broad daylight. So, if the mailbox door was opened at night, or the mailbox vandalized, or bumped by a car, or even run over at night, you never knew it til the morning. This has gone off several times at night, nosey neighbors or kids opening the mailbox, and let me know three times when someone backed into the mailbox and tried to drive off. That would not have happened with the other types on the market. It not only adds convenience by letting you know when the mail is delivered, it adds piece of mind and security. The only thing to make it better would be to sell a version with TWO senders for the double door mailboxes they sell.

Front inside door of MailMaster Deluxe has a lot of embossing on the plastic surface and very difficult to find a flat surface area to mount the MailGuard with the adhesive strip supplied. Unit has fallen off twice. It would have been better if flanges were attached to MailMinder so the unit could be fastened to the front inside surface securely using the existing three self tapping screws on the inside surface of the door.

I love it. Our mail delivery times vary so much, I was making several trips to the mailbox each day only to discover the mail had not yet been delivered. Now I instantly know when the mail has been delivered, or if anyone has opened my mailbox.

Our rural mail box is some 200 feet from our house. It if so convient to receive a pleasant chime and a visual signal when mail arrives. Eliminates our walking out to the road to see if the mail has been delivered.
The Main Minder makes a wonderful gift that is truly appreciated by recipient. I have given one so far to a friend, and will get more later.

My husband is disabled and hard of hearing. This mail notification system is a God send to us. Now there is no guess work on whether the mail has come or not. It plays a song when the mail is put in the box, and is loud enough for him to hear. If he doesn't hear it, there also is a blinking red light that will continue to blink until the button is pushed. Thank you for such a good product! We are very gratful!

Everything about his product is great, but they need to increase the range and the power of the transmitter, so you can place the receiver anywhere in the house and be confident that it will work.

It meets all of my expectations. I no longer make useless trips to the mailbox, this mail notification system tells me the box has been opened. As bonus I also now have a way of knowing when someone other than the mailman opens the box.

Really love this product! But it does need a direct signal to alert you.. (window nearby) we at first tried this in a converted garage area with no window.. and it wouldn't work. but once we took the alarm to the front window no problem.

This is such a time saver, by that I mean you only make one trip to the mailbox not half a dozen! We love it and have told many friends and I bought one for my 90 year old Mother and now she says she can't live with out it!
