We bought this when our now 7 year old was turning 1. Three kids later and it's still holding up very well and is in excellent condition. My kids LOVE this toy - even the 7 year old spends hours each day with it from the time we set it up in the spring until we bring it back inside the garage for the winter. Very sturdy. Very durable. Easy to clean. Easy to store (you can remove the legs to take up less room).

I don't buy too many new toys for our kids (I'm garage sale queen) and was very hesitant about spending the money on this... but it's been one of the best kid-related purchases we've made.

This item was the second water table we have bought for our 2 yr old son. This was very sturdy and can withstand the treatment of a toddler! I love the design and the addition of the water plug to let the water out for cleaning. The only thing I would change is the screws to hold in the legs. The "holes" weren't there to put the screws in to hold the legs on. We had to drill into the plastic. More of a bother than anything though I would still recommend this product.

This sand and water table is big enough to entertain my three grandchildren 2, 4 and 6 years old. It is also compact enough to use indoors. The long cold winter seems warmer due to the delighted giggles of children. Minimal mess on my tile floor.

At the time of purchase, my daughter was 8 and my son, 2. They both stay entertained with this for long periods of time. We don't always fill up the water side, as my son dumps large scoops of sand in the water, but they both love it when we do add the water. The only thing I might change is the height of it to accommodate seating. My kids end up kneeling or sitting on a bucket to play. I also love the cover it has on it for rainy weather or the winter season. It is easy to put on and take off - my 8 year old can handle it. It has withstood some strong storms without any signs of wear. Overall, it's been a bit of a lifesaver for my husband and me when we do yard work!

I really wanted to get a "sensory table" for our son's 2nd birthday. This won hands down. It has been able to be used outside since we had purchased it & he loves using the sand and water at the same time and builds sand castles with it. Even our nieces and nephews (ages 3-11) like to play with it. I can't wait to toss it in our basement this winter and fill it with rice or beans or jello or something. We also purchased the sandbox that has the umbrella and half picnic table that matches this & we are very very happy with that as well. We also own the canopy wagon, an art easel, a toy box, the race car bed, the neat and tidy cottage, and our son loves them all. So, if you're looking these have all been great purchases, we feel. My 2 1/2 yr old loves this sand table. we bought it used from a family we know-friends. Our neighbors moved next to us last year in Summer 2008. They didnt have a sand table to play with. My son has shared his sand table with our 2 neighbor kids(who are 6yrs and 4 yrs old. I would recommend this product to other people/kids out there to use this table.

sand and water don't stay apart in the mind and/or hands of a two-year-old, so both sides had sandy water or watery sand. it grows algae unless cleaned semi-regularly.

OMG!! My daughter loves this toy. She is only 17 months old and loves to get wet. We just fill it up with water on both sides, since she loves putting things in her mouth, we don't want her putting sand in her mouth. She loves splashing water all over. Would have given it a high review - almost perfect, really, except that it LEAKS water on the water table side DOWN the legs and the plug keeps coming open, pouring out all the water, which then pools around my son's feet. most inconvenient, not to mention the re-fill factor for the water.

Ordering directly from Step2 website was very easy and it actually arrived 2 days before the expected ship date. Had a hard time locating the brown color we preferred locally. Ordering what we wanted from the website and [...]. Our 22 mth old son loves to play with the table. The umbrella is wonderful to help keep some of the sun off of him (don't expect complete coverage). We have both sides of the table filled with water as I wanted to avoid the muddy water+sand mess some reviewers mentioned. I was disappointed to see the table leaking from the very start and somehow water got inside the table. There was a hole with a plug underneath the table that did help to get some of the water out from inside. The lid works well and stays on in really windy weather. I read the legs were detachable however you screw the legs on so I would think too much attaching and detaching would widen the screw holes and make the legs less sturdy. Even with the water leaking enough water stays inside for a good time of play. I've been dumping and putting in fresh water each time - approx. using 5-6 gallons to fill both sides. The only place I see where water may come out is where the legs insert into the tables, hoping caulking around those holes will help. I researched a lot of other tables and found that the design of this table despite the leaking issue to be the best choice for us.

I use the entire table just for sand and it works great! I can see my son making a huge mess if I used sand and water. Sand definitely travels between both areas. With sand in both sides there is plenty of room for playing and pouring and moving around as well as multiple kids having plenty of room to play without fighting. I love the cover on it and the umbrella that comes with it! My son is loving it!

This was relatively easy for me to assemble, but only with the help of first drilling pilot (small starter) holes with power drill, then using the screwdriver attachment. No way could it be assembled without those. I didn't even break a nail (don't have week+ to wait around till husband can get to it).No leaks, as others mentioned, kids stay cleaner with this than traditional sandbox.

I got this for my 2.5 year old, and he loves it. We have spent so many hours playing at it I have lost track. We talk about things and do role play, everything from making different types of food to running tractors through it, to burying 'treasure' like pirates. He doesn't get bored with it, and when we go outside usually it is the first place he heads. The umbrella provides great coverage from the sun. The only suggestion, we used only sand in the whole thing. it is best to use all water or all sand. If you do half and half, be prepared for a lot of mud, mess and clean up. The sand never gets back to it's orignial state. Not really a con, but something to mention. Also, we've had other children over, they love it....lots of cooperation and play and let's the parents talk to each other a little more!

We love this table! We got it when our daughter was close to a year and she used it right away, now that it's summer and she's 15 months she uses it many times a day for endless playtime. When we assembled it we took the advice of another review and put silicone over the part where the legs attached to the table, so that the water does not leak out. This worked great. The only thing we could say negative about this table is that after months of the weight of water and sand...and some hot hot days, the table has begun to bend in the centre (which does not allow for a lot of water to be added now), so we have had to prop up the centre with a wood support. I would do this from the start, as our table is now warped from the heat.

The colors are ugly but it is worth the price and the kids loved it. I thought the umbrella was red but to my disappointment it was brown-yuck. We used the table for my daughter's 1st birthday party and the kids loved it! Con-Messy. Five minutes into playing with it water mixed in with the sand section. The umbrella provided enough shade which is primarily why we purchased the sand/water table. I would highly recommend this table!

I purchased this sandbox because my 2 year old son's turtle sandbox was leaking. We have had many storms since I set up the new step 2 sand table and it has not yet leaked, The top stays on very well and it looks very nice in our yard. My son loves the roads for his cars. I really love the umbrella, just becareful that heavy winds don't catch it and pick it up. It has blown away a few times but I just dug a small hole in the grass underneath to push it in.
It does get messy, but hey, that's the fun of it. it's like we have a little beach at home!
I also LOVE that it is a table, now my dog can not dig in it while my son plays.

On the advice of another grandparent we purchased this for two of our families. The kids love it and even the older cousins (8 and 10) played with it for hours when they visited. Great hit with everyone. Our families have it on their decks so the children can play with it well within eyesight and and clean up is minimal. This is a hit at our house. My son Noah is only 1 years old but he LOVES it....and so does his friends! He has also gotten his older (13 year old) cousin to play. He does mix the sand and water together though. I love that it has an umbrela and a cover. It was definetly a great investment. This is a durable piece of equipment. After seeing my 5 year old granddaughter play with it, I would get a sand table without the water next time I purchased an activity center. Sand easily gets mixed with the water. It is hard to get the sand out of the water side. It became messy.

We bought this product for our daughter's first birthday because she played with one non-stop at an older child's b-day party. I love the umbrella feature as our yard gets lots of direct sun until late afternoon. My only complaint is that it is difficult to get the sand back into the sand side if children mix the sand with the water (which of course they all do!). The bridges do fall off a lot as some other reviewers indicated but that isn't really a problem for us right now. I might consider glue in the future.

My only concern is that within the first week I noticed that the center "bows" out as if the wight of the sand and water is to much.

Maybe if it had a center support leg this would not be an issue.

The lid still fits snug and the bowing has not gotten worse.

We put the table in our backyard and my husband surrounded it with a bed of river rock, so that he would not have to mow around it. It works great, stays put (with the rock around the legs of it), and my son loves playing in it. We also have 3 neighbors who love to come and play with him. They all range in age from 2 to 4, and they all have a ball! The only issue is that you have to be okay with them putting the sand in the water side and vice versa. It always happens, but they still have a ball. The other thing is, you have to expect wet clothes when they are finished. If my son is not wet, he did not play in the sand and water table.

I bought this for my granddaughter for her 2nd birthday and very glad I did! She loves it. It was very easy to put together and definitely weather resistant. The cover is great because we keep it outside on our deck all the time and the umbrella is great for shade while she's playing. My 18 mths daughter LOVES playing in this water and sand play table. I debated on getting a regular sand box that she would sit in but I think she likes standing up and playing better now that I have watched her play with this. It is a safe way to have water play too. I LOVE the adjustable height umbrella, as our patio is not covered. Very sturdy material and I'm glad it has a strap down cover to keep it cleaner when not in use. Easy to hose down too. My son is enjoying this activity table. I like that he's happy when playing with it, not to mention he's quite the discoverer while using it. He is 19 months old and the summer months here in Nevada get hot, so the water is fun for him to play in. The umbrella doesn't provide shade around the entire table, I wish it did, but that would be my only complaint. I would suggest this item for anyone with toddlers.

My son loves this table! He mixes the sand and the water, and buries rocks and other things and "finds" them later. It's a great way to keep him entertained when we are out on the porch, without having to run around after him. Another child or adult can easily play with him, without being crowded. It can be a little messy at times, because of the mix of sand and water, but that's a small price to pay for the enjoyment he gets out of this toy.

My 20 month old son loves this sand and water table. He plays with it forever. And sometimes my husband or/and I will play with the sand with him and other times, we'll sit back on the patio and relax. He loves to mix the sand and water together. The sand and water table is great! My toddler can reach it easily and the umbrella keeps the sun from cooking him while he plays. The older children enjoy playing in it alongside the little ones, so it is great as a family play acitivity. My kids love mixing the sand and water. The table is shallow enough that the sand will dry out nicely if it gets wet, but is deep enough for scooping and building and burying. Big enough for at least 4 kids to play at one time!

I'm a childcare giver for 2-3 yr olds and they love it. It is the first thing they want when we go out to play and someone is at the table the whole time. It is great for 3-4 children to play at a time. I put sand on both sides and they use the bridges and roadways for their trucks. The big legs make it sturdy and the lid has kept it dry and clean inside. The only thing is I wish it was deeper to hold more sand.

The plastic bridges don't fit into their slots after you put the sand and water in. It seems like the box sags a bit in the middle and so the spaces for the bridges become too small. I noticed my toddler getting frustrated everytime he would take his toy cars over the bridges because they fall into the water, now he doesn't even bother. I'm wondering if the product was actually kid tested before it was made.

Great quality, design, and value. We had another sand table that essentially fell apart over two seasons (cover broke, legs broke, umbrella tattered). We have always liked the Step2 products because of their durability and quality. This sand/water table lives up to our expectations! Our daughter loves the little boats and bridges included. The only drawback was that the holes for the screws were not predrilled and we had to use a drill to help with the assembly. But otherwise, very easy to assemble. Highly recommend this table!

You have to accept that the sand will get into the water and the sand/water will get on the ground. After you accept that, it is a very fun toy for everyone! We asked for this for my son's 3rd birthday from his grandparents. He loves it! We use it only as a sand table, no water. We have a Step 2 water table and we just keep them separate. My 20mo loves this sand and water table. It can keep him interested for long stretches burying stuff in the sand, playing cars, splashing the water, and of course...dumping all the sand into the water side. Makes me wish there were more separation between the sides, so it wasn't quite so easy for him. :) The umbrella gives a good amount of shade. We haven't had any of the leaking issues on the water side that others have.

A nice feature would have been adjustable height. My little guy is pretty tall and fascinated by putting his face in the water. With the table being relatively low, it's really easy for him to bend over to plant his face in it. Also he might outgrow the table quicker...but I guess we'll just put it on the ground at that point.

Wow! Bought this table for my 2.5-year-old son, and was happy to find that my 6 and 7 year-old daughters have enjoyed it, too! The table is very attractive in the yard, and is large enough so that all three of the kids can have plenty of room playing around the table (with room to spare). The first day we set it up, we just filled up both sides with water and threw in some measuring cups and a plastic tea set. All 3 kids played with it all day - from 11am-4:30pm while my husband and I sat and looked on. And now, weeks later, it's still the favorite toy of the household. I am so happy that we chose this table - the rectangular shape works great for multiple children.

I really love the table. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I wish the bridges were somehow attached or popped into place better (my 2 year old keeps handing them to me and gets upset - she thinks they are broken). I also ended up having to put it together with our electric drill. There weren't any screw holes really and when I tried by hand, it was hard and would have taken me forever. Overall, think it is a great table. The umbrella makes it all the better and the ties that hold the cover on are awesome.

My 20 month old LOVES this sand & water table. We have opted to use the whole table as a sand box vs sand/water combo. My ONLY gripe is that the cover is IMPOSSIBLE to latch down....I have to ask my husband to do it for me (this is the ONLY reason for 4 stars instead of 5). We purchased this as a birthday gift for our four year old daughter. I had some reservations about the table (size, mess, keeping out insects).

-My daughter is 40in tall and the table is a great height for her...not too tall nor too short.

-She loves mixing the sand and water sides together but, surprisingly, it isn't too difficult to clean up.

-The lid does NOT fully keep out insects, as there are several gaps after the lid is attached. So, far the insects haven't been interested in her sand table. The table has been in use for only a week so only time will tell.

My son loves this water table, and so do I. I rated it a 3 out of 5 due to the construction. Putting it together was not so fun. All of the screw holes were missing! There was 1 hole on each leg piece, and it didn't line up to the holes on the bottom of the table. Also, the leg holes leak as others have mentioned.

Regardless, my son loves the table! He is only 14 months old, but his daycare has a water table and he liked it so I bought him his own. I love the cover that goes on top of the table. It keeps out dirt and bugs. The umbrella is nice too, but it blew away into the next yard when it was windy.

Husband said it was very easy to put together. Afterwards he noticed that it was leaking. He ended up fixing it with silicone caulk and that seems to have fixed the problem. All in all a good product.

This table is great. It looks good on our nice stone patio, and the kids love it. They get soaked when they play with it, but they have so much fun. I love that it has a large umbrella for sun protection. I have twins, and there is plenty of room for them to both play. Assembly was easy...I just popped the legs on and didn't use the screws. It really doesn't seem to need the screws...and this way, I can just pop the legs off and put them inside the table to store it out of season. It is really sturdy. Great toy! The 14 month old twins and their 3 year old sister love to play with this. The sand and water feature makes for a muddy mess but a lot of fun. We liked it so much that we purchased a second one for our weekend home.
I had read reviews saying that the legs were not stable but we have not found this to be true. Other reviews had complained about the sand and water mixing but I believe that this is part of the sensory experience. Nonetheless the complaint is valid. It just isn't something that we found as a negative.

We just received this table yesterday & I was so excited to put it together so my son could play with it today. The umbrellas fits nicely in the center & the green/tan color is so nice. Unfortunately the water leaks down & out the legs so badly that I've already had to fill it up 3 times in just a few hours. There also seems to be a leak in the outside center on the water side as water is steadily running out of that side. Not sure if we will try to caulk it or what?

Our 18 month old grandson is thoroughly enjoying this. We have it set up in our enclosed garden and while we weed or water, he is busily playing in the water/sand box. A pleasure for all.

This is a great toy for my granddaughters ... they look forward to coming to my house just to play with it. If I had one small complaint it's that both sides should be deeper ... I think they would have liked it if neither side had the roadways, just a deep recepticle for the water and the sand.

Love, love, love this table! I am BIG researcher when it comes to childrens toys and after MUCH research I found this is the best one out there. I have a very tall 3 year old and a 1 year old and this entertains for hours! We actually just fill both sides with water (to keep it from getting muddy) and the boys love it!) It's tall enough for the older ones and lots of room for multiple children. I HIGHLY recommend this.

Our child loves to go and play in the water. I have not added the sand yet and we did have some leaky legs but Step 2's customer service was great and sent us new plugs right away. I love that all the stuff is easily contained in the table at night and the top is secure! Great product.
