Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

Loved this sandtable from the moment I saw it - one they can play with without getting in! Bought it in May 2007 - the table is still in great shape, but the umbrella has faded, elastic has stretched and canvas has ripped. I called today and Step2 is sending me a replacement and were super helpful. With customer service like that, I'd buy this table again!

My son flipped over this sand table. He loves the crane. The first crane we had stopped turning and the umbrella broke. [...] My son plays for hours with this. I bought him little bulldozers and trucks to drive through the sand. I love Step 2 their customer service is the best they really stand behind their products.

I purchased this for my son who was turning two, he uses it on our deck as a water table and he loves it as does my 4 year old. I take the umbrella in and out as they use it so I did't have the problem of the elastic stretching or umbrella fading. I agree with others the umbrella could be fastened better than it is. I would buy this product again.

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

This sand box is a piece of junk the umbrella is falling apart and the shovel/digger broke right away. My son isn't hard on his toys at all and it is falling apart now the cover won't go all the way down. I am not sure it will make more than one season this isn't typical for step2 products this is a piece of garbage!

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

The table was very easy to assemble by myself. The kids love it. The umbrella faded in a few months. The elastic ties stretched out too. Also, the soft, flimsy top did not keep pests out. I've had to change out the sand many times because it turns into a "litter box."

NO SAND IN THE DIAPER!

Best Uses:
Group Play, Individual Play, Older Children, Small Children
Bottom Line:

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

Finally, the diaper is no longer the sand pit! My children play with this more than the expensive swing set. The design helps keep the sand and the kids shaded, and it seems to fit more kids around it than I thought possible. Cons: the umbrella is poorly designed. It blows away with the slightest wind gust; it would work better if it could be anchored. It's ripping at the seam and fading. I'm hoping it will hold up to harsh winters. The crane is very difficult to get out; the umbrella doesn't anchor down well if the crane's not pulled out. A few complaints, but I think it's a better box than others on the market and I'd buy it again.

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

I have 3 young boys who LOVE to dig in their sand box - but it was SO messy! Sand on them, in their shoes and tracked into the house - yuck! So, we decided to get this sand table - with NO complaints on the table - just the umbrella. It has faded unevenly to a gray in just a few months and the elastic bands that secure it to the table are stretched out, so that it is vulnerable to wind. Step 2 replaced the umbrella without ANY problems, but I wish that the top was different.

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

We bought this about 3 months ago it keeps all 3 of my kids busy ages 10, 9, and almost 2 years. The only thing is where the umbrella goes in the hole it has collapsed and we have a hard time getting the umbrella in the hole now . Oh also the legs were really hard to get in so my husband had to do it.

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

My 3 year old loves this sand table. This is the one toy he owns that he wants to play with everyday. The cover keeps out water and bugs and the table holds plenty of sand. The only thing that I don't like about this product is the umbrella color fades really fast and the elastic loops that hold the umbrella on (when acting as the cover) stretched out really fast.

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

We just purchased this product and put it together quickly, though getting the legs in required my husband's strength. My 2 and 3 year old love it. The table itself seems very sturdy and well built. I personally prefer a hard, plastic lid/cover, but so far the umbrella cover works just fine. Large size allows for ample sand play. It's big enough so that my two kids can play together and not fight over the play area. Even though the sand capacity is 200 lbs., we found that 100 lbs. of sand is just perfect. The sand play is relatively neat and clean since the kids aren't sitting in sand. It's a new product for us, but so far, so good!

Great sandbox. But the umbrella lacks

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

This sandbox is great! Our two year old loves it. The only drawback is the umbrella. It fades very, very quickly and becomes an eyesore. Then the elastic straps that hold it down as a cover wear out quickly and it blows away, leaving the sand box uncovered.

So far - great!

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful Up Away Sand Table:

The assembly was a little frustrating being a 115lb lady and trying to assemble it before my husband got home. A trick that helped is to put vaseline on the legs before attaching them. Also helps to put vaseline on the excavator (where it goes in the hole) or else the sand gets in the groves and causes it to stop moving. So far, my son LOVES it I hope my umbrella holds up and as I have read in the other reviews many have had problems.

I have 16 mo old twin toddlers and they love this sand table. Large enough that they don't get in each others way. Sturdy enough for my son who likes to climb in it. Umbrella keeps the sun out and closes up to cover the sand during rain. Love it!

IN LESS THAN A YEAR WE HAVE REPLACED THE UMBRELLA THREE TIMES. THE STRAPS THAT HOLD IT DOWN TEND TO SNAP ESPECIALLY IN HIGH WIND AND OVER THE WINTER. OTHERWISE IT IS MY TWO YEAR OLDS FAVORITE OUTSIDE TOY. IT IS ALSO EASY TO KEEP CLEAN AND BUGS OUT WHEN THE UMBRELLA IS WORKING.
