My son will be 2 years old on Jan. 1. Yesterday morning (Christmas), he could not get enough of this train. He liked how the train went by itself. I taught him how to make it stop and go. The train stays on the track. He likes the realistic sound of the engine. We placed it on my coffee table so he could easily reach it. All of our visitors complimented his train. This is excellent as a beginner train. I will bring it out every year, even when I upgrade.

My daughter loves this set. We purchased a very familar set for her from Britain a couple of years ago, which allowed her to create her own tracks with the help of a lot of different track pieces- this set up is not flexible enough to do that. I wish Step2 would offer such additional track pieces as well.
