As a full-time working mom, I miss my fair share of “firsts,” but I am lucky enough to work for a company that believes in the value of family and bringing family together, even if it’s in the middle of a work day.
Step2 proudly started working with Disney/Pixar recently and released 3 Finding Dory water tables this spring – the Finding Dory Whirlin’ Waves Water Table (available exclusively at Toys”R”Us), Finding Dory Swim & Swirl Water Table, and Finding Dory Just Keep Swimming Water Table (available exclusively at Kohl’s).
Since my job at Step2 focuses around digital marketing and social media, it was important that I saw the movie Finding Dory once it hit theaters. But rather than make it an evening trip alone, my whole team left the office a little early and took our kids up to the movie theater for an afternoon field trip.
My three-year-old daughter had never been to a movie theater before, but I was confident, knowing the story line of Finding Dory, that she would enjoy it, if not for anything else but the buttery tub of popcorn. As we walked up to the theater, she had the biggest smile on her face. This came after I told her that she was about to watch a movie on a HUGE TV.
Her baby doll, whom she named Pandora, of course had to come with us.
It was a successful first movie theater visit. The theater had little booster seats (who knew?!) and Finding Dory was the perfect introductory movie for the big screen. What I love most, other than the sweet messages, was that there wasn’t a villain in the movie. So many movies from my childhood have characters that would scare my sensitive 3-year-old, so I was pleased that we left the theater with smiles on our faces, not tears on our cheeks.
When did you first take your little one to the movie theater?
