Many of our Thoughtful Thursday posts have been about children raising money for charitable causes, but this story might be the most shocking because this giving brother and sister, Kenny and Anastasia, are homeless. These eight-year-old siblings were inspired by a flier posted at their school about the 35th annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser, which featured a boy who had heart surgery.

Alex and Anastasia, with their mom by their side, decided to spend several hours for two weekends asking people around downtown Greenville, South Carolina for donations for the American Heart Association. Their hard work and dedication to try to raise money paid off when they ended up raising $1000! Even though these generous children face their own challenges, they believe it important to help others.
“We didn’t want it for the prizes,” said Alex. “We wanted it for the people who needed it.” This dynamic duo qualified to win one scooter based on the money they raised, however their selfless act caught the attention of the American Heart Association, who decided to give both of the children scooters as a thank you for their efforts.
This Thoughtful Thursday we applaud Alex and Anastasia for noble act of kindness.
