Customer ReviewsRated 4 out of 5 by lilsis683 from Wonderful Investment My 5 year old nephew has this desk and wasn't ready to part with it so I bought a new one for my daughter,23 months, and she LOVES this desk. She loves to color and paint and this gives her freedom to do both on a level of her own. No more sitting at the "big" table with limited space in her high chair...now she has her own space with plenty of room for her colors and papers that she can access any time she wishes! I do wish the stool was a chair with a back and has some type of non-slip on the bottom, but otherwise it's a wonderful product that lasts for years and years!Date published: 2010-01-11Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous from Not satisfied with the Seating Aspect I ordered two of these for my grandchildren however I did not realize the seat did not come with the back support as depicted in the model photo i was looking at. I now realize there are two different designed seats and that for my two grandchildren just under 2yrs of age is unfortunate as they cannot make use of it until they are much older wherein they are able to sit without the support of the back portion. It would be nice if you could exchange the two stools with the actual back supported chair however I doubt you would be agreeable to that fix.Date published: 2011-01-08Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Cute desk - Quick assembly* As others have said, this is a great desk. It's got lots of storage, a place for everything, and very cute. My daughter loves it. We've only had it for a week or so but so far, it's not a glorified storage rack. As far as assembly, thanks to other reviewers, I had a power drill/screwdriver ready. The holes are not pre-drilled but if you have a very small drill bit, you can assemble it with ease. It was definitely a quicker assembly than many items thanks to the power drill but that would've definitely irritated me had I not known in advance.Date published: 2011-01-18Rated 4 out of 5 by Krista P from Great desk, lots of storage space!! I bought this desk for my 4 1/2 yr old daughter. She was constantly drawing, coloring and doing projects and needed an area of her own. Its a great desk and fits everything and then some. My only complaints are that the stool it comes with is very uncomfortable for her and a regular chair with a back would have been better. Also, the light isnt very bright and the batteries have died already and its not that easy to get in there and unscrew it to replace the batteries. Other than that, its a great desk and Im happy with it and so is my daughter!Date published: 2010-02-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Graphic Designer & Mom from Couldn't ask for more! My son LOVES to imitate me working, so we searched for a little desk just for him! This desk was a perfect choice for my office/his playspace. Not only does it have a great workspace for coloring and painting, but the storage space and small holders make it that much better for keeping things organized! Plus, my son enjoys making this his own space by putting his things were he likes them and than reorganizing them again and again. We absolutely recommend this art desk for creative little minds, a must-have for parents who work at home!Date published: 2010-03-23Rated 5 out of 5 by Wise Grandma from Grandson age 3 loves his Desk My daughter wanted her son to get away from the computer more and ask for something to help him do that. So I decided this desk would help out on the problem. I added a few art supplies to go with it like: crayons, markers, paints, paper, coloring books, and books to read. My grandson is drawing pictures. He is thrilled with it.Yes, he is only three and plays on the computer a lot. He can even get on the computer by himself. He loves the games. Hopefully, this desk with supplies will provide more entertainment then the computer.Date published: 2009-12-28Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Just what I expected. This was bought for my grandson's second birthday. After ordering it and reading many of the reviews, I worried that he may be too young for it, but he loves it. He really likes turning on the light when he sits down. He immediately picked up the white board and decided to store all his crayons underneath. He sits at it everyday and plays. I know as he gets older, he'll enjoy it even more. For someone this young, it's essential to have crayons, markers, and dry erase that are washable. Otherwise you are asking for trouble!Date published: 2011-08-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great Art Table! We have been looking for an art table for our four year old for quite awhile. We purchased this one after reviewing several other brands. The table was perfect. Our daughter loves the storage and the pockets and we love the fact that all of her art supplies are now in one place and easily accessible. It was easy to assemble and the directions were clear. The stool is the perfect height for our daughter and the open space below the table allows for a chair if you don't like the stool. This was definitely worth the money!Date published: 2009-12-18Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from They best gift This was a gift for our daughter for her birthday and it was by far the best thing that we have gotten her. She uses it everyday, its very handy for storage and easy to clean up. I would highly suggest this item to anyone looking for a desk. We looked on line for a while till we found this. We love the special slots and holes for all of the art supplies to go, I think it's a good way to teach the kids to be organized. Our daughter is 4 and loves it, not to mention that our son is 9 and would like something like it as well.Date published: 2008-06-28Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Daughter Loves Art Desk The desk is so much easier for my daughter to use than at the dining or toddler table. The product is larger than I expected which is great. She has a large work surface and lots of places to put crayons, markers and store paper. Very easy to assemble, lightweight to move from room to room and easy to wipe clean. The light is a also very nice feature. One disappointment is that the storage in the back of the desk is not what I expected because it is more of a shelf than a than a cubby to hold books like the sides.Date published: 2009-12-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Should of got this a long time ago! My 5 year old sat at his art desk doing crafts for over an hour. He was sooo excited to open it up for Christmas. When we were puttjng it together he was screaming and jumping that he can't wait to use it. He set it up with all his art stuff. The only thing he complained about was the stool. He doesnt like that he can't lean back. He wish it came with a chair like his brothers did. But this art desk is also taller than his brothers. So that was a plus. I went through abou 4 or 5 easels through the years and I never thought of investing in an art desk. I'm sooo glad I did now. Not only did I get my 5 year old one but I got my 3 year old one as well. I had bins and bins of art supplies and thanks to these art desks I was able to get rid of them. Now my house is a lot neater.Date published: 2010-12-28Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Works well for my 3 yr old We purchased this for our 3 yr old daughter for Christmas and she loves it. I think she has used it every day since we gave it to her. It was simple to put together and it works well to keep her art supplies together. The storage bins are a little small, but still work pretty good. The stool is smaller then I thought, for now it will work well but as she grows we might upgrade to a taller one or chair. Also wipes down well after painting. We have had no stains or spots that we can't remove yet.Date published: 2010-12-31Rated 1 out of 5 by Mother in Kansas from Damaged and Poor Packaging I purchased this art desk for my 5 year old son after he saw one in a store by this manufacturer. When I went back to purchase it for him for Christmas, they were already sold out. So, I went to Step2's website and purchased it for him for Christmas. When he opened it on Christmas we were disappointed to see that the dry erase board had a black scratch across it. Then we couldn't find the screws and washers to assemble the desk. It ended up they were just tossed loose in the box. I have never had to lift up the bottom flaps of a box to try and find washers to assemble a product that is supposed to be brand new. This is crazy. Had it not been from "santa" I would have been on the phone that minute shipping it back. What a disappointment. I will not order from this company ever again.Date published: 2013-01-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Tina from Very pleased Bought for my son who turns 6 next month. He is average heightan stool was fine but I found a cube ottoman that I used for his chair. It also served as extra storage. Cushion for his tush. Lol. The desk itself is perfect in every way. Lots of storage space and love the light too! I especially love the middle storage underneath that allows for work to dry or to be continued on. I highly recommend this! Assembly was very easy. Use a hand drill instead of manual screwdriver. Gets very tiring lol.Date published: 2018-01-04Rated 3 out of 5 by bradlyp from Good for people who have money andcarpet I have bought 2 desk this week and this one was a bit disappointing. The first one bought at [...] and the other at [...] and they didn't have a display for the product. The product is big and light weight which is bad for 28 pound 2 year old. I have to get something for the stool so it does slide everywhere wood floors. My girl is small, 28lbs at 2 and a week and she know her abc's. It is 2 big for her. The stool slides on the floor she has cried twice today over it AND i got it today.Date published: 2009-11-16Rated 4 out of 5 by Moi from Good desk We purchased this for our 3 year old son and he really enjoys it. He likes having his most used supplies organized and ready to use when he wants them. There is a lot of storage space, but I wish the shallow storage areas were a tad deeper. I like that it wipes down easily. The desk comes with a stool which my son said wasn't comfortable so we use a small IKEA chair which he seems happier with. One change (other than replacing the stool with a chair) would be raise the top shelf or increase the width of the desk by an inch or so. I recommend this because when my son turns the page of a coloring book, it drags on the shelf. All in all, it's a great desk, but could use a few tweaks to make it perfect. The important thing is that my son enjoys it and I was able to fix his one complaint....the stool.Date published: 2013-07-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Cindy B from This desk is wonderful. My oldest son loves arts and craft and we bought the desk for him. He set his desk up all by himself and sits and works on it everyday. He loves the fact that he has a light and loves the stool. He's pretty big for his age (5) but can still sit comfortable on the stool. The desk is durable and attractive. However, my son used washable markers on the top part of the desk and although it cleans, you have to really scrub it. All in all, it is an excellent desk for youngsters.Date published: 2008-08-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Mom 2 Two from Excellent Value! The Art Master Activity Desk is awesome! I have a tall 4 yr old and an average height 6 year old and they both fit comfortably at the desk - and they LOVE it. Both kids have their own desk and will gravitate towards it on their own for quiet projects or reading. They also do homework there each night - and the reading light makes them feel extra cool! I wish the desk came with the corresponding storage bins for the little spaces, though. Overall, an excellent buy!Date published: 2011-01-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from 8 years of fun and creativity!! I bought the previous model of this desk 8 years ago for my son because he loved to color and draw. Mine came with a chair instead of the stool. He loved this desk and spent hours coloring at it. Recently I gave it to my 3 year old twins to use and they love it. It's been in my home for 8 years and expect for the places he colored on and the stickers he put all over it, it looks brand new. This desk will last a long time, it's a great investment.Date published: 2008-08-06Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from A lot of Bang for your buck! I bought this desk for my 19 month old for christmas. It was very easy to assemble, and has plenty of storage for his books. We have used it for crayons and finger paints and it has performed well. Easy to clean. The stool is not great for smaller children, he has trouble getting on it and not sliding off. Also, the way the light screws into the top will not make it easy to change the batteries when needed. Overall, I really like this desk.Date published: 2009-01-06Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Happy Mommy from Great product! Son LOVES it! My 7 year old son has really developed a great interest in art since he started 1st grade and taking art class. He is constantly at the dining room table drawing me great pictures and so I decided to buy him this art desk so he can have a place of his own for his art. He got it for Christmas and just LOVES it. Couldn't be happier with the price and the quality of the product. It's a great desk and I am very happy with my purchase. [...]Date published: 2009-12-26Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Our daughter Loves it! We ordered this desk as a christmas present for our daughter. [...]We were very pleased. Assembly was easy, and there was plenty of space for her books, crayons, markers and paints. She really loves the little light. I really love that it doesn't take up a lot of space and it's very sturdy. I only wish it came with a chair instead of the stool. She struggles a little get on and get comfortable. Aside from that it is a wonderful investment.Date published: 2009-01-12Rated 5 out of 5 by Brooke's Mom from Love this desk! My daughter loves to color, draw and pretty much make a mess with her paints and markers. Now she has a designated place she can do it that she can call her own. We bought this for her on her 3rd birthday and her aunt & uncle bought her washable markers & paints. She has a blast coloring the entire surface including the desk. The good thing is, she has just as much fun cleaning and organizing her desk every time she's done.Date published: 2009-11-09Rated 5 out of 5 by Mom of a little artful master! from Perfect space saving organizer The desk is perfect for storing all kinds of craft nick-nacks: tablets, construction paper, scissors, Play-Doh,crayons, paintbrushes and paints, and tons of markers!I bought this for my 5 year old son who loves art, and he thought it was the "coolest desk ever". Everything is right at his finger tips without having to rummage through bins and closets. Fantastic product which is inexpensive, durable, compact, and easy to clean.Date published: 2010-01-16Rated 5 out of 5 by mauri from Art Master Activity Desk™ by Step2 My grandson loves it and spends a great deal of time at this desk. He loves that he can get his own paints, crayons, and books without the aid of a parent and that makes him feel grown up. My daughter loves the fact that it holds so much and is easy to wipe and clean up. A great buy that he will be able to use for several years ahead. As well, we can pass it on to younger cousins. That's the quality of the construction.Date published: 2014-01-16Rated 5 out of 5 by The Happy Shopper from A Perfect Gift We bought the Art Master Activity Desk for my son for Christmas and he couldn't be more thrilled. He hasn't went a day without sitting and playing at it and we love that all of his art supplies are in one tidy place. The desk came quickly after I ordered it, my only complaint is that there were no pre-drilled holes for the actual desk only the stool. So what should have taken all of 20 min. to assemble took a day because I had to charge my drill. All in all the desk is great, my daughter loves it and is constantly using it.Date published: 2011-03-04Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Fantabulous Art Desk! It ROCKS!! This desk is absolutely wonderful! I would highly recommend!! Our daughter is four and LOVES it!! Uses it everyday...her youger sister (two) received the "write desk", which is also fabulous, but I do wish we had purchased two of the Master Art Desks-it's easy to grow in to. I would say age two and up for this wonderfully fabulous desk! You will be VERY happy with it! It will probably last forever too!Date published: 2009-07-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Highly recommend this desk Bought this desk for my 2 1/2 year old girl for Christmas. We think she loves it. She's not old enough yet to draw on her own, but I outfitted the desk with tons of stickers and she sits there all the time. There should be a kit available for the desk with crayons, markers, stickers, and a couple of coloring books (would have to pay for it extra of course), so you don't have to buy it all individually.Date published: 2009-01-06
