The twin granddaughters just played on the climber for the first time and they had a squealing good time! It was great fun watching them. I wish the slides were a bit longer with more down angle. They are pretty short and relatively flat and I think they will outgrow them quickly. I still would have given five stars except for assembly. I consider myself a decent handyman and have worked on all manner of mechanical things. These instructions are almost useless in my opinion. There are only alphabets, pictures, and arrows. Secondly, the subassemblies are very difficult to handle because you must put several pieces together with no means of attachment. Before the last "key" piece of the subassebmbly locks everything together, it is like trying to turn a house of cards upside down in tact. Overall, in my opinion, it is almost impossible for one person. Get some help! Another point is that the "tools required" shows a screwdriver, mallet, and the supplied allen wrench. I needed a table full of tools! A round file to enlarge holes that are too small to accept the threaded insets, a drill to predrill pilot holes, etc. A T-handle allen wrench also speeds things up a bit. With some very long screws, unless you have a power screwdriver (I used two different ones), you will be forever hand driving them all. Also, there are a great number of parts, which I expected, but I found only two with the alphabetical part number on them. A simple lettered sticker on each part would make things much easier. Total time for me about six hours. The final assembly is fine. Just rough road to get there. Lastly, truck ship was a hassle, for me anyway. The carrier called for scheduling a delivery day/time. No show, no call. I had to call them back for reschedule. The result was two different afternoons had to be set aside to be home (carrier gave me a 1pm to 6pm window both times). The size/weight dictates truck ship so be patient!

The climber is great! The kids love the different features of the climber, especially the crawl space, land bridge, and opposing exits and slides. It provides the opportunity for a lot of imaginative play! The assembly was surprisingly easy for us, though it did take 3 guys the better part of the day. I do note that the pieces did have a lot of "dust" however, and the center railing on the land bridge is a little high, making this a possible risk for younger children who might otherwise fall out. The slides were also a little rough, so we had to take a Brillo pad and some water to them to smooth them out. These issues make this a 4-start product.

Where Step 2 lost another 2 stars is on delivery. DELIVERY WAS ATROCIOUS. We received a notice that Step 2 would be making a delivery on a set date. They also added many stipulations, chief amongst them, that they would be taking the product back at our expense if there was nobody there to sign for delivery. Therefore I took time off work to await for delivery. After several hours of waiting, I called only to be told that it was en route. I waited ALL DAY but they never showed.

When I called Step 2, the person told me that they did not know why I was scheduled or why I was told that it was coming. IN FACT, it had just left their warehouse, and was not actually due to us until some day in the near future. When I asked how this could have happened, the operator seemed indifferent to the fact that I had to take a day off even though it was their mistake. I had to abide by their policy, but they didn't give me any courtesy in return.

No recompense, nothing. WORSE, they could not tell us exactly when it would arrive, requiring me to take an additional day off on next-to-none notice. For this reason, and because of their INSULTINGLY ONEROUS delivery policy that only protects them, I would NEVER EVER RECOMMEND STEP 2 TO ANYONE if there is a better choice. GARBAGE SERVICE, GARBAGE DELIVERY.

    Comments about Step2 Clubhouse Climber:

I bought this product for a preschool playground. I have only had it for two weeks but the children really seems to love it. The only thing that I do not like about it is the space on the bridge. Children can fall through it (it seemed bigger than in the photo).

    Comments about Step2 Clubhouse Climber:

What a pleasure to write a review for a company that makes shopping for my grandson a true pleasure. Your staff was helpful, informative, and HUMAN! How unusual, and how much fun. Mary took the time to talk with me about options, my grandson's safety, and the delivery process. She was so kind and enthusiastic--what a jewel u have in her! The product to my daughter's address just as Mary said it would b, and, in pristine condition. My grandson adores it, and we r tickled. All of u received our 10 star rating. Thanks ever so much for making this a joyful experience for all!
