Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea, but not very practical Although this table is a great idea especially the umbrella - for my daughter it was more mess and trouble than it was worth. She constantly puts the sand into the water side which causes a big mess at clean up time not to mention the mess, cost and hassle of constantly replacing the play sand. It may be a five star table for another child that is older or is able to follow directions better, (my daughter has sensory/developmental issues), but for us it was a great idea, but not very practical. I also bought two chairs and she has never used them and prefers to stand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Love it Love it! I have 2 boys -- 4 and 2 yrs old, and they both play with this table. We have a large sand box in the yard, so we really just fill both sides of this with water and let the boys go to town. My 4 yr old runs his cars and boats around and my 2 yr old really just uses the vehicles to splash. But they play together and laugh the whole time. When they're done, we just pull up the plug and let the water drain out. We LOVE the lid that keeps the inside clean and free of debris and we are looking forward to using the umbrella on hot sunny days. Definitely worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best money ever spent on a toy!!! WOW!! My 20 month old son loves this toy!!! Best money I have ever spent on a toy. We set this up on our deck and he plays with it every single day....several times a day and for at least an hour at a time without getting bored. Yes, it is messy and the sand and water get all mixed up but that is why he loves it--We just put him out there in his diaper only and rinse him off when he is done--GREAT PRODUCT!! Only minor complaint....screws were very difficult to get started without predrilled holes..I ended up using an icepick to start the hole which made it go faster.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No, I would not buy again. We just put this together for our grandson who loves playing in water. We put it on a screened in patio and filled up the water side, only to discover that it was leaking pretty badly down one of the legs. We had to drain it, and my husband is going to try to use some caulk or putty to see if that will fix it. I had seen this problem in other reviews but hoped it was just a fluke. But obviously it was not. For that reason I would not buy this product again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Birthday Gift We purchased this as a birthday gift for our four year old daughter. I had some reservations about the table (size, mess, keeping out insects).-My daughter is 40in tall and the table is a great height for her...not too tall nor too short.-She loves mixing the sand and water sides together but, surprisingly, it isn't too difficult to clean up.-The lid does NOT fully keep out insects, as there are several gaps after the lid is attached. So, far the insects haven't been interested in her sand table. The table has been in use for only a week so only time will tell.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sand and Water Activity Center This product is great! It has provided endless amounts of entertainment for my 2 year old and 1 year old as well as older friends and nieces and nephews who come over to play. My biggest problems with it are that the umbrella was very flimsy and broke shortly after we bought it. Also, the bridges do not stay on and I wish the plug on the water side was underneath the table instead of in the play area. Curious fingers like to open the plug and let all of the water out!Overall I would say this is the most played with and most enjoyed toy we have ever purchased!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We Love It! I've wanted to purchase this table for awhile and didn't know if my Grandsons would enjoy it, so I held off. Wrong Move! One is 4 years old now and Loves it! I purchase the colored (Crayola) sand at [@] and both my Grandsons are kept busy for hours,They love to build sand castles, run their cars through the sand, fill cups of sand and watch them drain through the funnel. We haven't filled it with water, so I don't know if ours would leak, This is a great product and I'll be passing it on when my grandsons decide they no longer want to use it. It is Indestructible!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Sandbox This is a great, study outdoor toy. Straightforward assembly, though my husband needed to use an electric drill to make it easy. Is able to withstand a pretty windy area where we live. I like that it comes with a cover to keep out neighborhood cats and leaves. It also comes with a little umbrella, which is a nice touch. However, it'd be nice if you could cover the thing without having to take the umbrella out.My 18 month old girl loves playing with it, and I like that it's a standing sandbox, so that she doesn't get really sandy when playing. Highly recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I loved the idea of this product, and my child would love to use this product, however the leaks make it nearly impossible. We assembled the table per the enclosed instructions (you definitely need an electronic screwdriver), yet the water leaks out the legs about as quickly as I can fill it. After spending what I consider a substantial amount of money for a child's toy, I am highly disappointed. I noticed that another customer mentioned using caulk to seal the leaks, but that really doesn't seem like something I should have to do. I am going to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fun! My 22-month old daughter loves this table, and enjoys it every evening on our porch. She loves that it is just her size, and she can get as messy as she wants, right before bath! We have had up to 3 other children playing at the table, without any elbow-bumping or fighting. The only downside I have found, is that she loves to dump the sand from the sandbox side into the water (not a table flaw - -just how children play!). I clean out the water side a few times per week, and refill it. However, that is an easy task because of the drain plug included on this model, that most others do not have.I highly recommend it, for children under 3. It is perfect for 18 mo - 3 years. The table is too short for older children. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This sand/water table has been great. My boys ages 3 and 7 have spent hours already at it. The roads and bridges make it really fun. I do wish now (after seeing the construction sandbox with the digger attachment) that there was one included on this table. I love the color which blends into the landscape. I also love how it stands up, which I believe keeps the sand off the kids. One of the legs leaks water on the water side which is disappointing. Also we have to take down the umbrella each time to cover it. Overall though, it was a great purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best outdoor toy investment ever! I purchased this for my daughter's 2nd birthday. This is our second summer with the toy, and it just keeps getting more fun! We have a swingset, large playhouse, riding toys galaore, etc., but the first thing she always plays with is the sand and water table (and plays with it for hours!).I love that it offers both a sand and water area. However, for the younger children, you may only want to use for sand only or water only, as with curious children the two substances will mix easily!I also love the cover and umbrella, this makes for clean and safe play!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great activity for toddlers! I love this table! I got it for my daughter to play with on our deck. We live in an apartement and don't have a back yard or a big enough space to put up a swing set. We can't go the the park every day so I wanted something she could do outside at home. She absolutely loves this table and has already spent hours with in in the few weeks we have had it. She is 2 and 1/2 so I worried she might get bored quickly but that has not been the case. The only problem is that the plug on the water side doesn't seal all the way and the water leaks out a bit. I think this might be simply because it is new and the plastic is still stiff. I just put a sand bucket under the table and when it fills up, I pour the water back into the table.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase this summer! We love this table! We got it when our daughter was close to a year and she used it right away, now that it's summer and she's 15 months she uses it many times a day for endless playtime. When we assembled it we took the advice of another review and put silicone over the part where the legs attached to the table, so that the water does not leak out. This worked great. The only thing we could say negative about this table is that after months of the weight of water and sand...and some hot hot days, the table has begun to bend in the centre (which does not allow for a lot of water to be added now), so we have had to prop up the centre with a wood support. I would do this from the start, as our table is now warped from the heat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Even the big kids love it. I purchased this for my 18 month old daughter but she hasn't been able to get near it -- my 6 and 7 year olds and their friends have been dominating it. I was suprised by how much they've played with it considering we bought a new swingset at the same time. They love mixing the sand and the water, making rivers, castles, etc. It's a complete mess -- they do get covered in sand and water -- but they love it. It's like a day at the beach without the jellyfish.I agree with the review about adding a hole to the sand side -- that would be very nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Difficult to assemble The indentations/holes to indicate where the nails were to be driven into the legs and base of the sandwater activity set, as noted in the assembly instructionss, both for the 8 short nails, and, particularily for the 8 long nails, were either very faintly marked (indented), or, were completely missing. This made it difficult to drive the nails into the legs and base of the sand water activity set, and to know percisely where the nails were to be placed. An electric drill had to be used to penetrate the plastic of the legs and sand water base.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great summertime activity If you are a neat freak, this may not be the toy for your family. I imagine most toddlers don't keep the sand and water separate. I've heard of some people only using one or the other, which is a good solution. The drain plug on the water side is a nice feature and if you leave the table uncovered for a few hours, the sand dries out. The umbrella offers a good amount of shade and the cover is a great bonus. My son really enjoys the table, and sand and water are inexpensive, so it's not a big deal if half of it ends up on the lawn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WONDERFUL! This has been one purchase I certainly don't regret. Many hours of fun have been spent playing and creating with this sand and water table. I had an issue with the umbrella and I called Step2. The situation was solved within minutes - extremely professional and nice customer service. Step2 is top notch and so are the people who work there!I plan on taking this table with me to Vacation Bible School and filling it with rice, beans or possibly all sand or water. I know the children in my class will love it as my children already do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun! My 20mo loves this sand and water table. It can keep him interested for long stretches burying stuff in the sand, playing cars, splashing the water, and of course...dumping all the sand into the water side. Makes me wish there were more separation between the sides, so it wasn't quite so easy for him. :) The umbrella gives a good amount of shade. We haven't had any of the leaking issues on the water side that others have.A nice feature would have been adjustable height. My little guy is pretty tall and fascinated by putting his face in the water. With the table being relatively low, it's really easy for him to bend over to plant his face in it. Also he might outgrow the table quicker...but I guess we'll just put it on the ground at that point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous toy! This product more than met our expectations. It arrived as scheduled and the box wasn't too heavy for me to move myself. It took about 45 minutes to put together and really requires power tools (screwdriver) to assemble. I wish the leg holes had been pre-drilled. When assembled it is very sturdy and the perfect height for my one year old and her older friends. The umbrella is large enough to shade the entire toy although it would be nice to have it tilt (this one does not tilt at all). This table sits up and off the grass so we have no dead patches underneath, it is also not accessible to neighborhood cats/ squirls etc.The cover stays firmly in place when the table is not in use. We love this toy and feel it is an excellent value for the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water fun! Love the umbrella!Make sure you push the water plug seal in well, or it may leak.Although directions indicated there would be pre-drilled holes for leg attachment, some were missing. We needed a hand held drill for assembly. We have been using it with just water, and our son loves pouring the water back and forth between the two sides. However, when we get sand it will NOT contain Crystalline Silica. This nasty dust is a known carcinogen. If you google safe sand for children you can find links for companies that have safe sand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of fun for my 2 year old! I really love the table. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I wish the bridges were somehow attached or popped into place better (my 2 year old keeps handing them to me and gets upset - she thinks they are broken). I also ended up having to put it together with our electric drill. There weren't any screw holes really and when I tried by hand, it was hard and would have taken me forever. Overall, think it is a great table. The umbrella makes it all the better and the ties that hold the cover on are awesome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the Grandkids It was easy to assemble, but using my electric screwdriver was helpful. Some reviews said the water portion leaked, but I didn't find that to be a problem since it was minor and I would only use the water one time and not save it for another day. The height is perfect for my 4 year old grandson and his 15 month old sister, and the umbrella makes it comfortable for them in the sun. It's a great way for them to play without worrying about too much water and having them sit in the sand, which is always messy for those in diapers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality and Value Great quality, design, and value. We had another sand table that essentially fell apart over two seasons (cover broke, legs broke, umbrella tattered). We have always liked the Step2 products because of their durability and quality. This sand/water table lives up to our expectations! Our daughter loves the little boats and bridges included. The only drawback was that the holes for the screws were not predrilled and we had to use a drill to help with the assembly. But otherwise, very easy to assemble. Highly recommend this table!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for one year old! My one year old daughter loves this! it is so easy to fill, we just use her sand bucket to scoop water from the pool two is all it takes. The plug has not leaked, the cover fits nicely to keep sand clean - we drain the water after each use. We have the new one with the green and tan flowers it is an attractive toy. we have had friends over with older kids they seemed to enjoy playing with it also. the umbrella is big so it shades a large area a definite plus. if your an outdoors family like us, than this is the toy for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product After reading over 150 reviews of this product on the Step2 website, I was amazed at how few negative ones were written (and even those were only slightly critical). I thoroughly research everything I buy, and I have never read such overwhelmingly positive reviews. I was totally convinced by all the comments, and, after several weeks of hard use by my grandson, I can see why I read all these enthusiastic reviews. The activity center is great! Only one caution: you do need a power screwdriver to easily assemble this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fine the 1st season but not the 2nd I got this in late spring of 2015, it was great the first season and my boys loved playing with it, however after getting it out of storage for spring/summer 2016 it leaks out the leg holes and doesn't serve its purpose at all anymore. My boys are upset it does not hold water like it use to. I have contacted Step2 in hopes of a replacement or a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very satisfied Great toy! The 14 month old twins and their 3 year old sister love to play with this. The sand and water feature makes for a muddy mess but a lot of fun. We liked it so much that we purchased a second one for our weekend home.I had read reviews saying that the legs were not stable but we have not found this to be true. Other reviews had complained about the sand and water mixing but I believe that this is part of the sensory experience. Nonetheless the complaint is valid. It just isn't something that we found as a negative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My son LOVES this! My 2 year old son loves his sand and water activity center. I like that it was easy to set up, comes with an umbrella and has a cover that stays on securily (we have a lot of neighborhood cats). Yes, the sand and water do get mixed up as some people mentioned, but so what, he is having a blast with it. (One person suggested using only all sand or all water, if the mixing bugs you.) The only suggestion I would make is to put a drain plug on both ends of the table, instead of just on one side. I would purchase this item again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent toy I purchased this for my 2yo son and another for my 4 yo nephew for his birthday the following year. This toy occupies them in play for hours holding their interest as well as that of their younger and older cousins. Good for cooperative play as well as individual play. We filled ours with water and sea creatures and the boys love it. My son's friend had his filled with sand at his 3 yo birthday party and all the kids played together very nicely with it throughout the party. I'm not good at putting things together, so my husband put the few screws it needed to have screwed in to assemble it for me. That was the only thing I had a slightly hard time with. It seems quite durable. The umbrella is a nice feature to provide shade in the summer while they are playing.

How much sand will I need for this product?

My husband filled it with 3 bags of kinetic sand but the bags were not very big and could have used more. Playground sand in a 60 lb bag would be fine.

I can’t get the drain plug to tighten up enough to keep the water from leaking out of the water side. How do I fix this?

Asked by: Kmm0403
We had the exact same issue. The plug that came with the table (hard plastic with rubber washer) won't work. We had to contact them to send a different plug (all rubber). Once we received the all rubber plug, we had to use some vaseline and elbow grease to get it into the drain hole so that it was a snug fit. Once it got into the drain hole, we no longer had issues with water leaking.
