We’re excited to be partnering this spring with the Streetsboro Community Pantry, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank and local Streetsboro churches. They graciously provide free food to struggling Streetsboro families and rely solely on generous donations from churches, businesses and caring individuals in the community.
Step2 is located in Streetsboro, Ohio, which is located in Portage County. Sadly, the food insecurity rate in Portage County is 15.6% of the total population and the child food insecurity rate is 24%.
When Step2 heard this, we wanted to help.
Food donations are typically made around the holiday season and by summertime those supplies have dwindled. This is also the time of year when kids are out of school and don’t benefit from the free or reduced meals they can get at school, so there is an increased demand placed on food centers at this time of year.
Over the next week, we are collecting rice, canned fruit, canned vegetables, soup, condiments, cereals, and more to donate to the Streetsboro Community Pantry.

All of the proceeds are going to the Streetsboro Community Pantry. People can drop off items they want to donate for the sale Saturday May 7 and May 14 between 9-11am at Tinker’s Creek on Page Road.
