The Power of Determination

Thoughtful ThursdayYou can do anything that you set your mind to. This statement is especially true for one determined 12-year-old girl. “I’m not un-abled, I’m just differently abled,” said Cassidy Huff. This incredible seventh grader has a rare dwarfism syndrome, but she doesn’t let that stop her from helping others.

Cassidy just underwent her 33rd spinal surgery and during her recovery, she decided to set up an online fundraiser to help raise money to buy iPads for the special needs children that she tutors at school. Some of these students are nonverbal and have difficulty communicating with their teachers and parents.

With the help of her fellow classmates, Cassidy was able to raise over $6,000. During the most recent assembly at Sylvester Middle School, she surprised the students with their brand new iPads.

This Thoughtful Thursday, we honor Cassidy and her determination to improve the lives of others.
