We bought this for our 13 month old son for Christmas...we set it up early, and it has been such a wonderful help!! He loves it and will play with this for so long! We can cook dinner, clean, fold laundry, finish a meal, read the newspaper, etc. without a toddler climbing all over us and demanding more attention. He loves the juke box and will dance along to the songs. It is definitely durable, as we keep finding our son standing on top of the open oven door, and it hasn't broken off yet! He eats his snacks at the table now, so cute! My only wish is that it would have come with more play food.

This is a cute set, but my version was missing the burner, the ringer bell, the jukebox and the faucet- all of the things that make noise and really accents the whole "diner" feel. We got it a few days before Christmas and as we were putting together before Christmas morning, it was extremely disappointing that it would be missing stuff, and couldn't get it before Christmas. The Step 2 folks were nice when I called. But overall, it took some of the thrill away as a parent.

Comments about Step2 50's Diner:

one of the chairs is hard to snap into place. Put the kitchen on its side, chairs facing up and twist and shove the left chair. It will click in but not easily. Just keep at it. Once it's in it will stay put.

Comments about Step2 50's Diner:

Pieces were missing from the set and the pieces that came in the set were poor quality compared to the items on the box and in the videos. I called customer service and they told me that the pieces have not been included for years, yet they are listed on the website, on the box, and they are on the video. She agreed to send me a 20% promo code to purchase another item online if I wanted. I will not purchase from Step 2 again.

I care for my 2 young granddaughters when my daughter is working. The diner provides a complete kitchen play area as well as a perfect snack/lunch seating area for them. There is room to store their play dishes, food etc in the kitchen area. They have used it for over 2 years and are as delighted to use it on a daily basis as when it was first purchased .

Susan M: I do not know. It was a gift for my granddaughter and I haven't actually heard the juke box play as she lives in another state and when I see her, we are usually out of the house. She loved the diner, however, and I can recommend it highly. Between my four granddaughters, we have purchased 7 Step2 products and are very satisfied. Oct 7, 2013

Tanya G: I do not know the names but our entire family has danced to these 50's dance songs. We put the jukebox on the floor and dance around it. It promotes family fun in our home, grandparents even get involved when they visit. No words just instrumental tunes Oct 7, 2013
Reply to Tanya Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Robert W: The jukebox does not play actual songs, but short (around 20 seconds) instrumental clips that are similar in style to 1950's music. If I had to nail them down, the first song has is similar to the Penguins, "Earth Angel," the second resembles Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode," and the third sounds like a Jerry Lee Lewis piano solo. The clips are long enough to be interesting and short enough to not become annoying. Mar 13, 2015

Heather A: The chairs are pretty snug, but my 3 year old loves this kitchen!! The kitchen is about knee height for an adult. My daughter does more "cooking" than "dining". The food and all that comes with it is just adorable!!! Overall, it's a great kitchen & it's very unique Dec 1, 2014

Cynthia H: Bought for my grandchildren last year; they are now very tall 2 and 5 year olds. They love this set & still play with it all the time. We adults might think it is too small, but it does not matter to the kids; there is also lots to do besides sitting in the booth. Dec 2, 2014

Jennifer D: The seating area is rather small, so it will be a tight fit 5-year olds (or it will in a short time). There's still the grill area, and perhaps she will have fun serving her dolls and stuffed animals who seat in the seats! :) Dec 2, 2014

Monica T: I bought 3 if these sets for my grandbabies when they turned 2. All of them have loved it. At 5 I think maybe the sitting area may be a little small, but I'm sure she would love the play area Dec 1, 2014

Dianne K: Yes, it was a beast to get in…the rest went together easily.
You have to twist and shove like the directions say. We (my daughter and myself) had to really shove it in. We turned it on its side so the chair faced up then twisted and I shoved and I had to put all my weight behind it. I’m a woman so maybe a guy who’s stronger can make this easier. We did this at Christmas so that’s three months ago and once we got it in place is stayed put. My two grandsons love this. The bell and jukebox are a huge hit. The boiling and frying are terrific. Making ice cream cones is the best. Once you get it together you’ll love it. Don’t give up…just keep shoving on it.

Amy R: I do not know about the plastic. I would not fill the coffee pot with water since the opening is small and would be difficult to clean thoroughly. However, my children love the diner.
