My ex wife has this same bed for my son I was excited to find it online and purchased it... I was super disappointed that it did not come with the doors!?

Why aren't the doors even an available item anymore with this bed? Can they be purchased seperately? Alot of people I have seen are complaining about it missing the doors!

I was so excited for this bed to come when I ordered it. I saw online that the bed did not come with doors but was expecting it to come with atleast the totes. It doesn't. After the bed was put together I stepped back and took a good look and thought for sure there were missing pieces. The front looks unfinished and upon doing some research online I found it was because the item doesn't come with doors. If I would have know the finished product would look like it does, I would have never purchased it! Very disappointed. I will not be recommending this to anyone.

        Comments about Step2 Boy's Loft & Storage Twin Bed™:

We purchased two of these beds for our 5 and 4 year old boys last March. We are now getting ready to move our youngest into his first big boy bed. I went online to purchase a third one since all my boys will be sharing a room. I was shocked to see that the doors have been removed and replaced with totes. The new bed looks unfinished and ugly. I do like the new added color but I prefer the natural look better. I think you should have the option of doors/totes and a color option.

Tremendous screwup removing the doors. Bed would be worth the additional money with doors. Not like this. And the hinges are clearly visible. Usually like Step 2 but this was a huge letdown

Estela B: The reviews of people who love this bed but almost changed my mind when I read the totes must be purchased separately and are not even offer as an option to purchase. The wonderful reviews of the older version of this bed with doors makes me hope I am not disappointed once I receive and assemble or when I cannot find totes to match. Crossing my fingers!! MommyMcGetrick asked: I currently have two boys that each have the old version of this bed with the doors. Now I have 2 girls I would like to buy this bed for in the pink and white, but really no doors???? Looks unstable and incomplete, you can clearly see from the pictures that the hinge holes are even there. Can you please make some pink doors and put them on this bed? I would order two right now if they had the doors. PLEASE listen to us consumers, we all want the doors back!!!! Love the girly colors though! Sep 8, 2013

Step2Staff: Thank you for this feedback. We are sorry to learn of your disappointment with these changes but appreciate your candor. Can we ask you a few questions? Do you like the new color palette changes? Would you be in the market for this bed with the doors and if yes, do you know what price point you'd expect to pay? Aug 9, 2013

HeatherM: The color is ok. I guess if you we're buying the whole set but as just the bed the neutral will go with more bedrooms. As for the lack of doors the bed looks cheap, like you bought it at a garage sale and you don't mind that its broken because you just spent $25 and you looked up on Pinterest on how to "class it up". I'm really disappointed. I understand some people want pink or blue but lots of us like the neutral because we have both gendered children. Sep 20, 2013
VicB23: I bought this bed for my first son 2 years ago and now I wish I bought two of them at the same time. But I didn't needed it back then, my second son was only a month old. And now it's too late!!!! The new bed wouldn't match and it hasn't have doors!!!! It's so disappointed! Based on the other reviews I am not alone :( there is not much of positive reviews, more likely all negatives! Please put the doors back!!! We don't care about the colors! If we want more blue or pink we would just buy blue/pink bedding! Very bad decision to take out the doors. Sorry, but I am not buying the new bed, I will just buy another set from different company. randy m: i like the colors. the pink match the pink toy box and same for the blue.
i think the price is ok, and i would buy it when the doors are added.
i think doors would be nice because when you put toys and maybe some
pjs and extra stuff animals underneath the bed, you could then close the doors
so that anything that fits behind the doors is ok, that way you know what
fit under the bed so no one trips trying to get into bed.

Christina J: If the new bed came out with doors I would buy it! I don't mind the color pallet. As far as price goes, I've seen it very between $244 - $265 with doors! I've never seen it over $300 with the doors! So anything priced over that is crazy! When would a projected date be for the new products? Mar 2, 2014

Carolyn D asked: When will it be possible to get doors to match? I love the new colors and the fact that the storage area is there but not that there are no doors to cover the items that would be stored underneath. Plus the lack of doors leaves the bed looking "unfinished." Jun 25, 2013

Amanda A: Please make the doors for the new beds. I have the tan bed and have 2 other kids who would love the new beds but they look unfinished without the doors. I tried ordering the replacement doors from the other bed but the customer service rep said they discontinued the bed so they don't sell the doors either. They need beds now though as they are getting too big for the cribs so I may need to go with a different bed. Too bad because I love step2 products and always recommend them. Please let us know if you decide to make the matching doors. Jul 15, 2013

Christina J: I saw these beds for my boys last year and was very excited! I loved the fact that these beds had storage underneath! You could close the doors and not see their mess! We are having a house built and planned on buying 2 of these! My boys were very excited as well. Now I've come back to start buying the beds because our house will be done next month. But, now that I've seen the new beds I will be looking else where because I'm disappointed with the removal of the doors! NOW THEY LOOK CHEAP AND UNFINISHED! I wish you would bring the doors back! step2sux: Dear "staff" Why on earth do I have to go out and buy a bunkie board? Why does this $300 require purchasing more parts? It makes NO sense at all why you do not recommend a box spring and don't provide the board. So what does $300 provide? It sounds like it provides a BIG hunk of plastic and apparently missing doors. For GOODNESS sake put the doors back on. I am reading all of the screams for the doors back and "staff" keeps answering with nothing but...we are bringing it to our product development team. NATASSIA M: Yes, there is a support board that works excellent with the beds. I bought both boy and girl beds and we purchased, what is called a 'bunkie board', pretty much a 2" box spring. This worked lovely with a 4" mattress. This is working perfectly, my husband and I were able to sleep with each child to test how supportive the boards were. Unfortunately it's not on the step2 site, but any mattress company should sell them. I hope this helps. Jun 5, 2013

AMANDA T: The directions stated to use a "bunkie board".
We were going to use a boxspring under the mattress, but ended up just cutting a piece of particle board under the mattress.
You do have to use something, there are not enough planks to fully support the mattress.

My ex wife has this bed for my son and I was super excited when I found it, but it looks cheap and useless without the doors on!? Completely bummed because that was the whole reason I wanted it, was to have a place to hide/store his toys or have a play area for him to hide in!
