We use the choo choo wagon almost daily for our walks. We have taken it out occasionally to run errands. Each child has their own car so that they have their own space. I wish that every car had storage under the seat rather than just one car. The cup holders are neat because they also hold a rectangular base juice box. I was very impressed with the wheels. I thought they were rubber, but they are a hard plastic, not like the old plastic ones that are loud and rough riding. I purchased the Radio Flyer clip on umbrellas for each car. It makes the ride comfortable for the children since they can be adjusted to avoid direct sunlight.

My grandkids took their first ride in this yesterday. It's colorful and very cute. They loved it.

Each car is supposed to hold up to 50 lbs. I'm sure that is true. However, my 2 grandsons, weighing 39 lbs. and 29 lbs., have no room for their feet! They squirmed constantly trying to get comfortable because of the lack of feet room. I'm hoping when the weather warms up, they can take their shoes off and the ride will be more comfortable.

The design seems to be very good, but apparently no one gave thought to the fact that kids have feet! Right now it's new and the problem seems minimal to them. I'm hoping that in a few months when it's not new anymore, the lack of feet room still won't be a problem.

I would recommend this to a friend, with a warning about the design.

Comments about Step2 Complete Choo Choo Train Combo:

I love the choo choo train !!! I have 3 grandsons and I love to take them for walks around the neighborhood the boys are not big fans of strollers so I'm thrilled that they love their choo choo train they each picked a color and that's their personal car each car comes with a drink holder and seat belts and on the front car the seat lifts up for extra storage . I've had so many people stop me and ask where I got it and to let me know how cute it is !

Once my triplets outgrew our stroller we needed something to use on walks, and while at amusement parks.stears very easily, and is fun to use!the boys often make choo choo sounds when riding :-) we've already had many complements on the wagon, and questions as to where we purchased it.I always tell them directly from step two!

Comments about Step2 Complete Choo Choo Train Combo:

The train was easy to assemble and seems very durable. I have 11-month old triplets and they absolutely LOVE their individual wagons! We even use it inside just to get them to stay put in one place. The third car is removable and I can fit the entire three pieces in the back of my van. We have a triplet stroller and I like this wagon SO much better! Although it is long, it fits through doors and turns easily. There are seat belts and cupholders in each car. We will be using this for a LONG time. We love it!

Deborah M: I have triplets in the family (2 girls and a boy) and bought this for their 2nd birthday in 2011 - they are 4 now and it's the main mode of transporation to/from the park. It's also gotten many complliments. The kids think they're on a ride rather than safely secured in a wagon (great job installing the safety straps!!)
My friend now has two children with a niece/nephew on the way and asked for this as a gift.

Cristy W: We have a 2 year old, 1 year old and new baby coming in a month. We regularly take boys on outings and push 2 separate cozy cars (which they love). Since there are only 2 parents in this family, we needed to be able to pull 3 around at a time. On every multiple blog site we have found, parents rave about the Choo-Choo as a must have. When I saw the combo on sale with free shipping, I couldn't pass it up. Thanks Step 2 for making great products, in the USA, that kids and parents love. Apr 21, 2013

Heather M: I chose this to make taking walks with my daycare kids hopefully easier. I have one child who tends to be a biter and the fact that the kids have thier own space really appealed to me. I am hoping it is easy to pull and that the kids will enjoy it. And if all goes well I may add on 1 or 2 compartments as I have 4-6 kids that are in my care almost daily. Apr 2, 2013

Beverly R asked: I want to get this for my triplett grandsons. I see that there are only 3 cars but I want an extra one for there stuff for now or a brother or sister later.
How do I go about ordering an extra one or two cars for the wagon trolley? What part do I ask for? How much? Would I be better off buying 2 complete 3- car wagons ?

JAmie P: I have tripletes that are three years old. I have the choo choo train combo with three seats. You really can't add a fourth seat to the train. I can tell you from experience pulling three kids will get heavy enough. We got a back pack that we used for carrying stuff and that worked out well. As they got heavier we actually took an empty back pack and looped bungee cords so that you could wear the back pack and pull the wagon. It was a lot easier to pull that way. I loved the wagon it was a great purchase. If you really want another wagon for stuff I would just get another single wagon versus buying another triple wagon.

When ordering I think the website giving you an option to order the wagon with three seats. I have the red blue and orange one.

Pedro F: I have the complete choo choo train combo for my triplets, the last wagon it seems to have the preparation to add another wagon, but I do not recommend to make it a four wagon train, because I think it would become a little heavy to move 4 kids, and also, the turns of the train would become a little complicated. I have used this train on the park, but also on the supermarket (I have some kind of a belt that i attach to the train), and with 3 wagons is the perfect size to do the turns on aisles. If space is your concern, let me tell you the firs wagon has some space under the seat to keep little toys, but in the wagon theres enough space to carry a ballon, my kids do that :) Apr 14, 2013

James R: I would go with the 2 add-on wagon trailers instead of buying whole other wagon. They sell them right here and it should actually be one of the links you can click on somewhere nearby normally :) The first two cars don't come apart, so you'd be stuck pulling 2 different wagons, and both full. That's a lot of strain on both arms. My SIL owns an older choo choo wagon, and when I've watched her little ones, we've borrowed her add-on which works with my newer one. It's compatible, and pulling one that's a little bit heavier is way better IMO, than pulling 2. Apr 11, 2013

              Alan J: Beverly,

I have triplet sons also. We bought one of these a couple years ago and we absolutely love it. We just have the 3 seats, we did not buy the 4th one because it would not fit in our car then. From what research I did the wagon could have up to 5 sections. The first 2 come together and the the orange one snaps into the bottom and you are ready to go. If you need a 4th one just do the same thing into that one i guess. It is well worth the money.

Elizabeth S: We have a daycare and we purchased 2 extra wagons for that reason....we can manuever through the grocery store and our local bank. We live in a very small town of 2000plus and it was nice to see people stop my husband and comment how nice to see him out again with the kids....We highly recommend this combo and the added wagons. We purchased this product from Step 2 on-line along with the other added wagons. Have fun with your Choo Choo Train and its a great workout. Apr 11, 2013

Melanie B: The wagon is only 2 cars. You will also need to buy the choo-choo trailer which is the yellow car. So you would need 2 trailers. I don't think buying 2 wagons would work because of the handle. There would be no way to connect them. My daughter has a set of twins and then another child that is about 16 mos older. They LOVE it! They've definitely gotten my money's worth! Apr 13, 2013

Lisa S: Bought this for my daughter's wedding as she had 3 babies in her bridal party. We love it! I'm not sure if you could buy an extra car but Step II should be able to answer that question. We also have another wagon which is much better for stuff, especially if you use it for the beach! Hope this helps Apr 11, 2013

Each 'car' has it's own seat belt and drink holder. The boys LOVE it! It does get quite heavy to pull when they get older (ours are 2+ now) so my husband pushes from the back with a broom. Also, we are all quite tall and the handle could be a little longer. But I would highly recommend this product. Great quality. Hours of fun. Hope this helps. Nov 8, 2013

Kayla M: Yes, there is a stand alone "choo choo trailer" that comes in orange and is also available on the Step 2 website. It is very easy to attach and to remove (as is necessary for most people to do in order to fit it in their vehicle). If you type "choo choo wagon" in the search bar on the Step 2 website, you will this additional trailer listed. Our three year old and two year old twins love this wagon. Everyone has their own little space and a sippy cup holder to boot. Nov 9, 2013

Autumn P: In looking at our choo choo train combo, it does appear to have the potential of adding a fourth caboose to the back of the orange, however, in order to make sure I would suggest contacting Step 2 customer service. My triplets absolutely love going for walks in the train, though as to be expected the turning radius is not great with three cars; I am not sure how four cars would do (fine for outdoor walks I am sure). Rhonda L: Becky, I purchased this in 2011 for our three very young grandchildren. What a hit! We've used it so many times, and we expect to be able to use it for many years to come. It's perfect for strolling the neighborhood, parades and events. You will need an SUV to transport it, though. We bought one additional car and may purchase more. The seat belts and storage space is a welcome addition. Nov 15, 2013

John D: I bought this for my triplet grandchildren. They love to ride in it and they use it almost daily. When they go anywhere with it, they get stopped by everyone. I think you can add another train to it to make it 4, I really don't think that would be a problem. Hope your quadruplets will enjoy it as much as my triplet grandchildren do.

It has held up great u can easily take iit apart to fit in your car. I would not think twice about buying it. Enjoy the babies!

Kathy L: I'm a childcare provider and love this train. You are able
to add additional cars, however, it does get heavy to pull
as the children start getting bigger. If I had anything to
suggest to the manufacturer, it would be a longer pulling
handle. I find the front car lifting up while pulling the
              train at times.

Kim C: I use my choo choo for daycare. I wouldn't recommend putting an 8 month old in it without some type of other support. If he/she can sit well without any help at all, it might be ok. I put my smaller children in their carseat and put the car seat in the wagon. It fits great and it worked perfect for us. Some car seats are smaller than others so they fit much more safely. Aug 23, 2013

Wendy M: As long as your child can comfortably sit up without neck support they are probably ready for this wagon. I would say it would work for an 8 month old. The sooner you get this wagon, the more years of use you will get out of it. I waited until my triplets were over 2 and now at almost 4, they have pretty much outgrown it. Wish I would have bought mine sooner! Aug 24, 2013

Julie T: The wagon only has lap belts. I think a bump or jiggle could cause a 7 month old to fall off the seat or out. A child would have to be able to sit up unassisted for quite awhile. Our almost 8 month old isn't ready for the wagon yet. Aug 23, 2013

Rebecca J: I've used it with children as young as 8 months, so long as they can sit up, it isn't a problem. I tuck a blanket down where their legs would go, so they don't try to lean over and get all bent in half. Aug 23, 2013

Emily H: Yes. Notice this is the 'combo'. You do have the option to buy it with just 2 cars. I would buy the the combo bc every child wants to ride or you could store belongings in the last one. The yellow car is detachable and is fairly east to take on and off.

I HIGHLY recommend this product!!! but only if you like attention bc you will get it wherever you bring it.

When I bought it the main set came with 2 -cars and you coud add a third.
My gals may be about done with it tho, if you leave me your # , I will ask my daughter if she wants to sell it.

Stephanie T: They are plastic. No problems with them so far. They are alittle noisy.

I would say the main thing I would tell you about this item is that it is heavy (Not accounting for the weight of children). I found it much heavier than a regular two seater wagon. It can be difficult to pull with the weight of three children it it.

Teresa W: We have just the 3 and our kids weigh about 90 pounds collectively. I think that we will be able to pull it for another 6 months-1 year before it gets too heavy to pull our 3 year old twins and our almost 2 year old. I have seen 4 cars, but I imagine that they couldn't use it for quite as long as we have. You need to be strong, but the smiles you get from everyone as you walk through the city will be worth it! It's also difficult to store in a car the more carts you add, but we just use it to walk in our neighborhood. May 15, 2014

Autumn P: There is really no limit. You could continue to attach as many trailers as you would like, however, the turning radius is not a great one at three carts. It does require a good amount of space to turn around in when using the three carts. Also, you have to think about how much weight you want to and are able to pull. My girls are 21 month preemies that weigh just over 20 lbs now, and it is okay, but walking at the park uphill is a workout. May 15, 2014

Mark H: The wagon (the first two connected pieces) come with one cart/trailer, we originally went with just that and then added another trailer totaling 4 carts. I think the max recommended for safety is a total of 5 carts/trailers which would be the initial wagon (two carts) and 3 add ons. Hope this helps! We loved it!!!! We could only fit the wagon and 2 pieces in our van. Because you can't detach the original wagon it is a space taker :P May 15, 2014

Karen Z: The base of the Choo Choo wagon is two cars that are somewhat permanently attached to one another. The remaining cars attach but can be removed. If I'm understanding the question correctly, the benefit to ordering the Choo Choo wagon as opposed to the wagon that seats two children together plus trailer is that the Choo Choo wagon safely seats one child in each car. The wagon has the added trailer for cargo only and does not safely hold a child. You will notice that the trailer does not c Nov 4, 2013

Beth R: I have 4 cars attached to mine and can easily add more. I will say that it can take a lot of effort to pull 4 older kids. I have a daycare and usually pull kids ages 1 -3 with no problem. I had a day where I took four kids all age 3 and the wagon was pretty challenging to pull. Jul 7, 2014

Vicki S: Yes, we had triplets in the choo choo and bought Radio Flyer brand red/white stripe clip-on umbrellas for each car. It worked great! It barely clips on there, but it works. The clip is like the large one on a clip-on fan. Wish I still had mine to sell you. Good luck! Jun 26, 2013

Golda A asked: Can you add more wagon sections to this? I work at a Preschool and have 20 four & five year olds (at full capacity). I would like to purchase a wagon so we can walk to the local park, about 1 & 1/2 miles from our center. I'm curious if they would be durable enough for that kind of ride and also how many I would need to get to comfortably walk with them. Do you think it would be easy to pull 4 wagons with 5 "cars"? Ami S: We have only two wagons (four total spots) on ours and it does really well with those. I would think adding extra wagons would work well.

We had the original choose choose wagon and could not find the wagon attachments. We bought the new design for the extra spaces.

The wagons lock in tightly to the main wagon and onto each other. I would not go to long as it may get cumbersome to turn/pull. I love this wagon and have been extremely happy with our purchase. I hope this helps.

Adrian W: Yes you can add more wagons (blue car) it is a really solid wagon. We bought one for our daycare for the same reason. Everyone loves it. It one kid per car, bout two small kids can fit in one. It's really heavy duty and bulky. Takes up a good amout of space. I would not leave it outside as it is colored plastic and it will fade. sherry M: Yes you can add more. We have 3.5 yr old triplets plus a 5 yr old. It is getting pretty heavy to pull them all though. Apr 4, 2013

Julie T: Hi Golda, the wagon train is great, Niti think it would be rather hea y and ungainly to pull for that distance. Apr 4, 2013

Manuela L: It appears you can add on to the third cart. However, I don't think that it would be easy to maneuver especially with 4-5 year olds. I would say it's more for 2-4 year olds. A 4-5 year old would not have much leg room. With five 4-5 year olds, your talking about 200 lbs. I think you have a good idea, but I don't know if this is your best option. At that age, kids are outgrowing this wagon. I have two girls one is three and the other one turned five one week ago. Both of average size. For a while now, we have only been using this with our three year old. Our five year old will rather walk. Hope this helps Apr 7, 2013
