We purchased this for Christmas 2008 and my 2- and 4-year-old love it. It encourages their desire to be creative - they can initiate artwork on their own, without a grown-up having to get out crayons, markers, paper, etc. The overhead shelf is great as it keeps scissors, glue and paints out of reach of the little one, though a light underneath it would be beneficial to eliminate shadows (we will be putting one up). The storage is adequate (though never enough!) and keeps things handy. Clean-up is EXCELLENT for washable crayons, markers and paints. We struggle a little with "old-fashioned" crayons (which get quickly thrown away), but can even remove those marks with some elbow grease and a good cleaner (which hasn't harmed the desktop surface!)...after two months of heavy use, the artdesk still looks brand new. The primary color scheme would not be my first choice - maybe something more neutral that would help it blend into a room...but the funtionality way overrides that. The size is perfect - both girls will use it through at least age six, and the quality/durability is what you expect from Step 2 - HIGH. Best of all, BOTH girls can work together without fighting over seats, space, or having to take turns! Final note - would've been nice to see it in person first - but rest assured its a great buy!

I purchased this for my 27-month-old son so I had somewhere to store all his art supplies instead of my tupperware cabinet. My bad planning meant I was assembling this on Christmas Eve. The instructions are horrible. It was missing all of the plugs it showed on the instructions and half of the screws. When it tells you to screw something in to "secure" it, the holes don't line up quite right, making it difficult to screw the piece in.
Finally, it suggests the use of a drill, but says a regular screwdriver is just fine. Turns out, you have to drill holes through the plastic to secure the legs to the face of the table.
Now I might not be an engineer, but I've assembled enough toys in my life, and this was ridiculous. I spent 3 hours and it still was partially in pieces.
I will say that this table feels VERY sturdy and is a cool concept overall. I have always loved Step 2 Products, and not had a problem with them, so I hope it's just this one time.

Comments about Step2 Creative Projects Table™:

This craft table is great. I have a 5yo and 3yo who love to 'create' all the time. This table has enough storage on both sides to hold the paper, coloring books, craft supply bins and any other larger items. There is also storage on the top and 4 cups to hold the markers, colored pencils, scissors and glue. There is enough work space for both kids to be 'creating' at the same time. It is lightweight enough to be easily moved and the construction of it is quality. I myself have also sat on the stools to color with the kids! I would recommend this to anyone with kids.

Comments about Step2 Creative Projects Table™:

My 3 and 4 year old love it. It has plenty of table surface area and top tray is adjustable so they can both play at the same time. The two stools are a great feature. A couple of the screws were difficult to screw in since there is no predrilled hole. Overall this table is the best. No regrets.

Assembly was very easy it took about 10mins. My daughter wanted to instantly play on it instead of open more present Christmas morning. I do like that her big oversized coloring books do fit in the bottom storage. I have no complaints about this table so far.
