i had to write a review. we really love this buggy. we are not first time parents and previously owned both the original push around buggy and the whisper ride buggy..

they all have been great but not as great as this one. the original push around buggy worked well however those plastic wheels were quite loud. also in order to put the handle away to fit it in our trunk, we would have to pull out a knob for storage. It was a little smaller and was therefore outgrown faster.

the whisper ride buggy was great,,it was a little bigger than the original and the wheels are really quiet however it did not have the option for folding the handle, or taking out the knob, like the original, so traveling with it was difficult.
the other difference in the whisper ridde was also the electronic horn.

this new buggy is great. it is wider than the others and roomier, it has the new steering option which is great. i guess if you have not driven the other buggys you would not notice it. but turning curves or just turning around on the other buggys was not very smooth, almost like dragging it, and it makes a great difference. we love it. and this buggy the handle can be folded down for storage and without taking out any knobs.this new buggy does not have the elecronic horn, however i was quite fine with that. i guess its a matter of preference, but for me this is better. with the whisper ride as soon as you even lightly just touch it, it would make noise, and it got a bit much for us.
and yes, the cup holder on the handle will only hold a bottle of water, i imagine its for safety(i have to dissagree with a previous reviewer who wanted to put cup of coffe in it. Im not sure why someone would want to put a cup of hot coffe on the handle of a childs buggy while driving it, as it sits right above a childs head as it seems a little dangerous, just saying)

bottom line is we love it.

This is a fun toy. Unfortunately, the steering wheel won't stay in making the product next to useless for a child trying to simulate driving. This was an expensive Christmas mistake. Add to that, I waited on hold for a half an hour to request assistance on December 26 and when the operator came on she introduced herself and then promptly hung up. Repeat call backs were met with a busy signal. Poor customer service.

Comments about Step2 Easy Steer Sportster:

The Step2 Easy Steer Sportster is definitely one of the coolest looking toys ever. It is a push style ride on toy with a long handle that folds underneath for storage. Parents will love to push their little ones around in this stylish easy to maneuver Sportster. It has caster wheels for easy turning that retract to accommodate multiple terrains. The max weight is 50 pounds which is great because it will last a few years. I really like that it has cup holders, one on the handle for parents and another on the car for the child. The adult cup holder is very narrow and will only accommodate a bottle of water so if you are an Ice coffee drinker like me you will be stuck carrying your coffee. The hood of the car is a mini storage which is pretty cool, you can throw some diapers/wipes in there or your child can use it to store some of their favorite toys. Victory really likes to beep the horn and stays entertained minutes at a time. The wheels are a durable plastic that are surprisingly very quiet. One thing that I find to be a pain is that when Victory gets tired there is no way for her to get comfortable for a nap and so I don't recommend taking the Sportster on a very long walk as you just might get stuck carrying your little one all the way home. Other than that Victory loves her ride on and gives it 4.8 out of 5 stars. My daughter loves her car. I bought it after visiting the playground and realizing she was the only kid without a car. It is AWESOME! Easy to steer and best of all she is happy to sit in it. Putting it together was not fun though. It has several pieces that are supposed to snap together and it was next to impossible to achieve that. Getting the steering wheel on in particular was hard. I had to sit in the car and my husband sat in front of me as we both pushed to get the wheel in place. I thought my husband was going to blow a gasket he was so frustrated but we finally got it :-) I definitely wish we had gotten it earlier (1st birthday would have been best)

Kristin G: No, the child can not ride it on their own, they will need to be pushed. A child could use this as soon as they are able to sit up and keep their balance while bumping around. My daughter is almost 4 and still loves riding in hers. Jun 10, 2014

Kathleen P: It would be difficult for a child use use this without being pushed. So no, you would need to push the child. My grandsons, ages 2 and 5 love this car. I would say 5 years old is the limit because of the size of the toy. Jun 10, 2014

A shopper asked: How is the legroom on this one compared to the push around buggy? My son just turned 2 and he is tall, so it's been tight for him to keep sitting in the push around. I don't want to get this one and find out the leg room is the same. Thanks! May 6, 2013

Angie W: My daughter LOVES this little car. There is not a lot of leg room, but she still loves it. She is 7 but has Down Syndrome so she is short. She will sometimes stick her legs out the sides. We will probably be using this until she can't fit in the seat anymore. However, this is not the CHEAPEST ride on toy that you would want to only use for a short time. I hope this helps. May 8, 2013

Kristin G: This one has more leg room than the push around buggy. I have a 2.5 year old daughter who is also tall for her age. My cousin has the push around buggy and my daughter was always hitting her knees on the "dash" when she got in. This one fits her much better. Also, there is nothing between the feet like the push around buggy has - it is all open. My daughter LOVES this thing. She would stay in it all day if someone would push her that long. Hope this helps. May 8, 2013

Joan B: I purchased this instead of others for the legroom and the cup holders when my son turned 2. He will be 3 in two weeks and is tall for his age - 39 inches. He loves riding around in this car and I hope we get mileage out of it for at least another year. May 7, 2013

Jessica C: I bought this for my son for his first birthday. He will be turning 2 this summer. He is tall also and already wears 3t clothing. He still has a lot of room to grow in it. This is by far his favorite toy May 8, 2013

Linda K: I can't answer that question since I am unfamiliar with the push around buggy. My grand-daughter is 3, average height, and seems to have no issue with leg room. Sorry I couldn't be more help May 6, 2013

Gail G: This model has a lot more leg room. I bought it for my granddaughter who was tight in other one. She is going on 4 now and still can use it comfortably and she is tall too. We love it! May 8, 2013

ashley h asked: Are the dimensions of the whisper ride 2 and the easy steer the same? as in foot room and seat space? and the easy steer also whisper ride wheels? is there less room in the hood (storage space) of the easy steer, due to the lever to pull up the coater wheels? Jul 20, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Maryanne L: The easy steer sportster is much roomier in the seat and leg room than the other models. My grandson did not outgrow it as fast as I believe he would have with the other model. He lives in a city and we often took longer trips than perhaps others do. The easy steer also has whisper ride wheels. The concept of the coaster wheels is good, but the problem is with the two front wheels. They just snap in and on a bumpy sidewalk they easily come undone. I'd snap them in on our walk, but they sometimes don't go in as far as they should. I'd still buy this model over the other because of the size. There is room under the hood for a couple of diapers, a baggie of wipes, t-shirt, and a pair of shorts. It's not a lot of room, but it's enough. Jul 22, 2013

ashley h: Update: I bought this car and we love it! I bought it for my 13 month old but my 4 1/2 year old loves it too and actually fits in it! We have the original whisper ride for my 4 year old and although he still plays with it in the yard, he pretends he's a mechanic, he is a little big for it. He still wants to be pushed in his as well so we do but his knees or up to his chest. The new easy stear is definatly an improvement over the old whisper ride. I have not tried the new whisper ride II. There is more leg room and of course much easier to stear and even off the sidewalk I don't need to pull up the coaster wheels they work fine in the grass as well. The only downfall is the storage area in our whisper ride is much larger but that's because there is less leg room and I prefer the leg room. I can buy a clip to hang a storage bag on the handle. Our little dog would ride in the storage area under the hood with hood open of course and my son loved that they could ride together but I know it wasn't made for that so can't complain. I love that the handle can be moved so it can be put in the car. And unlike the other reviews my husband had no problems putting it together. Love this car and so does my 13 month old little girl! I Los attached some toy keys to he stealing wheel for her to play with. Jul 29, 2013

Step2Staff: Yes, the product dimensions are the same the Easy Steer Sportster does have the whisper ride wheels. There is slightly less storage under the hood when compared to the Whisper Ride II but there is still plenty of room to store snacks, sunglasses, etc. May we suggest watching the product video on this page by clicking the red arrow over the image http://www.step2.com/p/Easy-Steer-Sportster? This give you more visibility into the amount of room taken up by the caster wheel. Jul 22, 2013

Rose Marie H: I bought both the roadster in red and the easy ride II in pink. I have to granddaughter the same age. The pink II is bigger than the roadster but the steering is both the same. They love this and I take both 2 yrs olds at the same time with no problems steering both. Jul 25, 2013

Sharon G: Sorry if I have already posted an answer! It disappeared from my computer...
I think the foot room and seat space in the Easy Steer are more than adequate. There is definitely less storage space in the Easy Steer due to the lever. It does steer well, though!

ashley h asked: Thank you for the earlier response! I'm still trying to decide between the whisper I I and the easy steer. 2 deciding factors when my son had the original little push around buggy we used the storage area. It was so nice I didn't need a diaper bag! So di want to give up storage space for easy turning? Also my baby is the only girl in the family and I really wanted her to have the pink one in that every thing she has are from the boys. I would also like to suggest adding a sun shade. A pull out shade. This is the only reason I have looked at other brands. We live in Florida and a shade would be a selling point. But I'm still going to stick with step I I in that my son loved his so much and actually still does although he's 4 and no longer fits with his long legs. We had the small push around and the first whisper ride. Actually liked the little push around better because of the small size and was actually easyier to push but was loud. I feel the width of the newer ones are a little over kill. They are too wide and take up too much room in a car. I don't know a child that needs that wide of a seat. Maybe more leg room but not width. My 4 year old has lots of room in his with width just not a lot of leg room but I know these are not for older children he just still really likes it. I love step 2 products just wish the easy steer was pink which I know is a silly issue and I can't find a single store in my area that has these little cars for me to try them out to see if I can't get everything I need in the storage area and is he easy steer easy to lift the wheel back up with the child inside? We do a lot of park walking and off sidewalks.i don't remember my husband having any issues putting together our past cars and everything stayed put but he is an engineer :) Jul 22, 2013

ashley h asked: Any parents have had the whisper ride ii and this easy steer? Which would you recommend? Will be using inside and outside on sidewalks and off sidewalks. Are the wheels easy to retract when child is in seat? Jul 22, 2013

Melissa H: Easy steer is far superior to the whisper ride. My neighbors have the whisper ride and it doesn't turn unless you put it on its back wheels and rotate the entire car. Easy steer makes turning a breeze with the front 3rd wheel. The 3rd wheel is easy to retract with child sitting in the car, although you probably won't retract it a whole lot. Jul 22, 2013

A shopper asked: Any plans for a double push car that two can sit in? Or an attachable side car? I have two grandsons who are close in age. It would be nice to be able to take them for walks together. I like pushing rather than pulling a wagon! May 13, 2013

Step2Staff: At this point in time, this ride on toy does not come with a removable floor board. May I suggest the Easy Turn Coupe? http://www.step2.com/p/Easy-Turn-Coupe Apr 29, 2013
