We set this up on flat ground until they got used to it, and now, we have it on the top of the hill and they have a longer, thrilling ride. Best ages are from 2-6, and, with many children, instead of purchasing a 2nd car, the children wait their turn on numbered poly-spots(circles)at the bottom of the coaster. It is organized and fair. My children are 41/2 and 16 months, love this ride and their friends do too!
* It was easy to assemble. Just don't forget to put washers on both ends of the screws!!!

Bought this for my son's 3rd birthday; took longer to assemble than to give birth to him (and probably more painful); the parts were the wrong size (the nuts and bolts didn't match up; the bolt went right through the plastic hole - needed to add washers to keep it together); needed 3 trips to the hardware store; none of the holes were pre-drilled, so that added to the time and frustration; once assembled, it's a fun toy, but the set-up wasn't worth it

Great coaster we use it in our driveway. I bought the first one when my oldest was 4 and the little one was 2. It's was a big hit with them and anyone of their friends that came over to visit. 3 years later bought a second one due to Superstorm Sandy damaging the last one. Kids really love it and I'm glad I bought it for them again.

I purchased this for my grandson's third birthday, and it arrived early enough for his birthday party with half a dozen toddlers from ages 2 to 5 in attendance. They all played on it without any difficulty and loved it. Where it was installed they had enough room for the run out of about 15 ft. Since then, it has been the new favorite toy. What's not to love! They can push the car back up the ramp themselves using the cleverly placed steps in the middle between the car tracks. It was amazing to see how quickly they "got it". My son said it was easy to assemble and like everything else they own from Step2, it is weatherproof. That is great since this is the Pacific NW where rain is frequent. It even shipped earlier than what was stated on the website.

My Daughter just turned 1. I figured she would get many years out of this coaster so I purchased it for her. It arrived 1 day before her party. We put a bike helmet on her and sent her down the coaster. She loved it!!! She was saying more, more, more. At first she didn't like the helmet on, but then she realized if the helmet is on, she gets to go on the coaster. No problems now getting the helmet on. There were 30 kids at her party. The coaster had a line at it all night long. We had it setup in the concreated barn. They would go about 100 feet, then 10 feet of driveway and then on to the grass. So about 120 feet total. Best toy I have purhcased for her!! Can't want to go home and send her down again!!

This is the greatest toy. All of our children love it and the kids in the neighborhood think that this is the greatest thing. We loved ours so much that my brother and his family bought one too and now they have to beg their kids to come in at night.

15 feet on a flat grass surface would be about the space required, possibly requiring an adult to make a slight stop at the end. Apr 30, 2013
We have it set up with a 50 foot run on a tiled floor and still have to have pillows to stop it.
I have one for my daughter and gave it to her when she was 3 1/2.
She's 9 now, and still loves it!

Can anyone tell me the difference between the step 2 extreme and the step 2 up and down? May 7, 2013
The Extreme Coaster has a is taller, has a steeper incline, and has a faster ride. It may be longer as well. My three boys (now 6, 5, 3) have had the Extreme Coaster since Christmas 2011. The Extreme Coaster is still a big hit with all our boys and their friends. The steeper incline makes for a more thrilling ride and maintains the kids interest. Our now 3 year old has been riding the roller coaster ever since we purchased the coaster. Originally we had our youngest ride with one of his older brothers, but he's been capable of doing the entire ride for quite awhile now. I have complete confidence that our coaster will be ridden by our 3 month old daughter when she gets older. It is a very durable product. May 7, 2013
The up and down is more for younger kids. I had both and my son quicker grew out of the up and down by age 2. The roller coaster is really cool and at age 3 he is able to climb up it and put himself in the cart, and push the cart to go down the ramp. May 7, 2013
