I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 1 year old. I wanted to get a kitchen that they could have fun with now, but also grow into. I love the fact that there would be room for both of them and that you could add things like a cash register to turn it into a store. So far I have been very pleased with the product. My husband was able to put it together without any issues and the kids love it. This is the second Step 2 product that we have and I would highly recommend the brand- very well built, durable and comes in gender neutral colors

    Cons:
-Could be more food storage space or compartments in the cupboards- we are using a play grocery cart for now and that is working just fine.
-The "oak" flooring is not attached- this makes it a little more difficult to move when vacuuming, but not a huge deal.
-I purchased the kitchen with an additional 101 piece food set- the box came with two bags of food items (50 pieces per bag, I assume), but one of the bags is exactly what came with the kitchen so I have a ton of duplicates. While this isnt a huge deal, I would have prefered to buy it seperately and gotten different items if I knew in advance

My only real concern is that my 2 1/2 year old daughter has started climbing on the bar/counter (open underneath), grabbing the arch above and throwing her weight back. So far everything has been stable, but I am a little worried that if she continues this and gains weight it may tip over on her (though I think it is light enough I doubt she will get hurt). Obviously I am trying to discourage this behavior, but I know she continues to do it every time I turn my back... keep an eye on your little monkeys!

I had been looking at this for over a year debating if to buy it or not. I have a small daycare with 5 little kids. I finally gave in. It was much smaller than I expected. Had I read the specs I would have known that so I don't fault the company. The free shiping was awesome! My husband put it together fairly easy. I don't like the metal spoon racks, they keep falling off. I have to move it frequently to vacumn, the floor has to be reinstalled when I do this. The food that comes with it is really small and I probably threw over half of it out as I felt they were hazardous. I expected much better quality. I have purchased Step2 products before for the kids and this just doesn't fit the bill. The little kids can crawl in it and pull themselves up. No more than one 3 year old can work in it at a time. Not enough storage space, the pots and pans do not fit in the space under the cooktop! While we love the buttons on the cooktop burner sounds, the kids have figured out that it how to turn the sound on without a pan being on it and I worry they will do that with a regular burner.

Comments about Step2 Grand Walk In Kitchen with Extra Play Food:

My son who is 18 months really enjoys to pretend to cook so we knew this would be a perfect set for him. I wanted a kitchen but he has pulled some of the one sided kitchen onto himself at friend's houses. This kitchen can work as a kitchen but also as a play house so we didn't need to buy both. It came with a bunch of food and it is really cute. He loves it and so do all of his little friends. The only problem we had was it arrived with a box from a different set so we had to wait a few days to reorder the right parts. We contacted customer service Tuesday am and the set had arrived by Friday am. We are very happy with the set and our experience with the customer service to fix the problem.

Comments about Step2 Grand Walk In Kitchen with Extra Play Food:

This kitchen met my expectations. However, I was disappointed with the delivery. Fedex lost my second box and I didn't get my complete package until 2 weeks later! I really appreciate Step2's excellent customer service. Carol was very helpful and courteous (unlike Fedex, they were rude and unhelpful) when I called to resolve the issue.

This is a great kitchen. My daughter enjoys her personal kitchen space and pretetnding to cook and make dinner. It provides quality playtime for her by herself as well as encouraging play with her cousins, both younger and older. Would definitely recommend this kitchen for young chldren as it allows playtime and exploration, while at the same time making it enjoyable!

Great kitchen for my tall 3 year old (she's 41" tall). I wanted to find a play kitchen that my daughter wouldn't outgrow in a short period of time. This one has a great height and width along with many options and accessories for a child. I made the right decision going with this one.

Terry I: Yes. The stool came with Grand Walk In Kitchen with extra play food. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter loves her kitchen. It is her favorite toy and she 'cooks' in it almost every day...especially when she has someone to serve. Oct 31, 2013

Dani T asked: Once you put this together, can you dissemble it? We would like to put it in our playroom, but obviously we won't be able to get it out through the door after our girls grow out of it. Jan 28, 2014

Katrina E: I've taken it apart into two pieces, top and base. The top is awkward with the 'pillars', but sideways is easily innumerable through a door. The base is another story. It also needs to be on its side, but I highly recommend moving it being a two person job. It's bulky, heavy and is a bit wobbly since one side only has a thin strip. It's overall very durable and worth the investment, especially if you have a kid who loves pretend play. Feb 1, 2014

Charlene P: We purchased this for our church daycare center (where it gets a tremendous amount of use) and haven't had occasion to disassemble it. However, one of our staff members has the same product at her home and she states that she has taken the kitchen apart to relocate it and it's done pretty easily. It is put together with screws which can be removed.

            Hope this helps.

Step2Staff: It is possible that you can disassemble our products. However, we do not recommend it because the self tapping holes will enlarge. It may be harder to put back together because the screws will no longer be as tight in the holes you originally created. Jan 30, 2014

JULIE O: Why yes you can! We learned the hard way. We had a water leak in our playroom and had to take everything out for the new carpet to be installed. My husband took it apart enough to get it out the door and reassembled it once the carpet was done. Jan 30, 2014

Amanda W: You can take it apart, although it can be somewhat tedious. My kids love it but we are currently getting ready to move and taking it apart to get it through the door and it was some what time consuming Jan 30, 2014

Shantell J: You should be able to have not done it but base on how it's assembled there shouldn't be a problem to pull it apart Jan 30, 2014

D K asked: Is this kitchen good for tall kids, does it have a coffee pot, silverware drawer and silverware? THANK YOU!!! Jul 27, 2013

Lillian W: I don't recall the Grand Walk in Kitchen coming with silverware, since I already had some. Yes it came with a coffee pot but again not sure if it was in the original or with the extra food. Regarding height of my grandkids playing with the kitchen......average 5 year old, three year old and two 2yr olds. There is plenty of room for all of them to play with the kitchen at the same time and easy to get in and out. My grandsons pretend cooking and serving each other. All 4 of them can eat actual snacks around the kitchen, three on the outside and one inside. And best of all the cushioned flooring inside is comfortable for grandma to be on her knees playing in the kitchen. Enjoy Jul 31, 2013

Katrina E: Yes, yes and yes. The top is open, so any height child can play in there. It's actually pretty tall. It does come with a coffee pot, two plates two bowls and two coffee cups. It has a little silverware drawer with a set of silverware for four. If your child likes to chew on things, however, don't start out by worrying about how many of what item you have. They will get chewed up pretty easily, and you will find yourself throwing them away one by one. If you have a non-chewer, then you have no problems! Aug 5, 2013

JULIE O: It comes with a coffee pot, a couple of pots with lids and fry pans I believe, also with a metal colender and some utensils, the food is in a seperate box, lots of the food was too small for my little ones and had to be tossed as I felt it was not safe. Nov 24, 2014
