I read the reviews on Toys R Us before buying this today. Most of them were from 4 years ago (before Step2 discontinued this and then brought it back.) About half say the assembly was difficult because the pegs don't line up on one of the boards, but that hopefully Step2 was fixing it.
Well, FOUR YEARS LATER, and Step2 STILL HASN'T FIXED THIS!! I just spent nearly 2 hours trying to get the thing to snap together, and nope, not happening. I am FURIOUS that I spent all this money on a product that I can't even use without some serious altering on my part. This is just unacceptable. I don't want to box it up and drive 45 miles back to return it (plus, I bought it IN STORE to use TODAY), so now I'm going to have to try and drill a new hole or some other ridiculous "solution."
I'm a mom and have had my own daycare and own a lot of toys and baby products- this is by far the worst. We have Little Tikes climbers and other outdoor toys, and I stupidly assumed Step2 would just be similar. Umm, wrong wrong and more wrong. You want something done right, you go with Little Tikes.
Shame on you, Step2.

We are so happy that Step2 brought this item back. The other substitute versions for it in recent history just were not as captivating.
This is the perfect little climber and slide for a very young child. Because of it's scale it provides more independence. The construction is VERY solid and assembly/teardown are very easy.
The slide is great and the perfect size for very young children. They love to crawl in and play peek a boo.
The only negative to this climber is that it has a pretty limited lifespan since it is definitely outgrown around 2. At that point you would want to upgrade to something bigger. If that doesn't bother you then it's a great item and your child will get LOTS of use out of it while they are little.
