Permission given by City Transportation to put KidAlert in our busy crosswalk. We will soon have two KidAlerts on our two busy streets. It has been the only type of caution we were allowed to display.

Totally love the child likeness. Our green "Franklin" is well known in the community. Several related stories have been shared regarding his importance. We have had to replace two "KidAlerts" as they have been taken from their site. I have had many calls from people who would like to get one for their personal use. I definitely recommend it to friends and families.

Our preschool families are concerned when we do not have our KidAlert out for them.

We have had the green "KidAlerts" previously and they had two stands for each of them that we weighed down with sand. Our newest "KidAlert" is yellow and it has one stand. I prefer having two stands in order to keep the figure in place in the street. Time will tell about the color and figure change.

      Comments about Step2 KidAlert! V.W.S.:

This product is very sturdy. We filled the base with water and he does not fall over even on windy days. This is a must have safety product for children who ride bikes in their driveway. Cars do not enter or turn around in our driveway when we place "slow man" at the entrance.

A bit difficult to put the two pieces together - took a lot of force and some olive oil to allow the two sections to slide into one another. After that, no problem!

          Comments about Step2 KidAlert! V.W.S.:

We live on a very busy and dangerous school crossing route. We have set the safety sams up on both sides of the crosswalk. It helps with the crosswalk visibility and slows people down. They have become very well known in our area. Only down side is people steal them all the time. There was one missing again this morning. ARGHHH!! It gets expensive replacing them and can be a bit of a pain to find them where we live. But, they are worth it. We have tried so many signs etc to slow people down but these worked right away and had the best visual effect you can see it from 2 blocks ahead.

bright, visible, drivers seem to pay attention to it. we have it at the edge of our driveway and put it out when we play basketball.

very happy with it, easy to put together and looks like it will be sturdy.

only drawback so far is that it comes with a red warning flag that comes rolled up and so far has not straigntened out.

How do you up the base on?
            FrustratedMom on Apr 29, 2015
            BEST ANSWER: Hi Mary,

Place one foot on a firm, flat surface. Align the recesses of the body with the pins on the foot base and press down firmly until the KidAlert! body connects with the foot base.
Has anyone else found it impossible to assemble the foot into the base?
There is no way the pegs will fit into the slots without snapping the plastic, I'm amazed no one has complained about this.

Why is it SO difficult and how can I connect the 2 parts together?
            Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET and we will be happy to assist you with the assembly of this product.
Could you make a model that glows in the dark ? As to be easier to see at dusk.
            Thanks

The flag poll of this product is not safe at all. The sun beats on it and makes it splinter. It is fiberglass and when that gets into the skin it is very painful. Could you please consider a safer poll? The turtles are wonderful but the polls need a better composition.
            Jessica on Aug 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: So sorry to hear about the flag pole! Please call us toll free 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET and we will be happy to send you a new flag pole at no cost.
Is this a turtle or a child with a backpack and a very round head?
            A shopper on Oct 4, 2013
BEST ANSWER: We love using this child to remind parents to drive slowly in our parking lot. We dress him/her up for the different seasons - a scarf in winter or swim goggles for summer- now it has a Halloween hat on.
Are these legal to put in the middle of a road?
            A shopper on Nov 1, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You would have to check with your local police department.

However, wouldn't think so as it could be a traffic hazzard. Ours is as close to the street as we can get it and the orange flag hangs slightly over the pavement which draws attention to it.
Is this supposed to be a boy or a turtle?
            sherri v on Oct 6, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It is a boy holding a flag. My kids love it. They pull it out to the street corner when we are out front playing. It is a great way to let people know kids are out and to SLOW down! Worth every penny!
I live in Toronto, Ontario and 10 residents on our street want to purchase this because of cars racing down our street. Can you tell me where we can purchase?
            jacqueline c on Jun 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: You can purchase this visual warning sign here: http://www.step2.com/p/KidAlert-V-W-S
Do you offer one of these without the word SLOW on it?
            A shopper on Apr 19, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I purchased this and the "Slow" is a decal that you apply. So, it does come with the option to not have the word applied.
Where can I get a replacement flag?
            kari l on Mar 27, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Please call us at 1-800-347-8372 Monday - Friday, from 8-5 ET and we can get a replacement flag ordered and sent to you. Tomorrow, our offices will be closed but our Customer Service Department will be here from 9AM - 3PM. Thanks for contacting us and we hope this helps.
This item says 4 signs in parentheses. Do you get 4 of them for $27.99?

BEST ANSWER: The KidAlert! V.W.S. is $27.99 per visual warning sign.
Is the price for single signs or 4? I followed a link that said 4 signs, just trying to clarify.
            A shopper on Dec 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The price shown is per sign.
